@@LeicaCameraAustralia I just got the camera and I love it, but there are simple things that could be added, the ssd is one thing, especially that there is already an usb-c connection…another thing is the mp4 format that has no log option…why?Hopefully there will be a firmware update with this.thanks
Log in MP4 is not feasible. MP4 is usually an 8 bit format (and even more heavily compressed than H264) and so L-Log would look terrible once the gamma curve is applied. You need a minimum of 10 bits for L-Log to work well.
I wasn't keen at first, but the preset style grows on you and now I kind of like it. I only really use a limited number of different settings and it's easy enough to set it how I want.
Explaining video settings on an 8K camera, uploaded in highly compressed 1080p on TH-cam (YT 1080p looks closer to 720p, just 1 Mp) - it’s fine if you watch in on a phone, but any 4K monitor or 4K TV is begging you to upload in 4K ;-)
Excellent video, thanks. My understanding is that Leica SL2 can record video in raw format using an external recorder such as the Ninja V. However, it is not clear to me whether the new SL3 can also record raw video externally. Could you, please, clarify? Thanks
No, the Q3 does not have a Cine mode and thus shutter angles, nor does it show a waveform. It does shoot in a genuine Leica L-Log though and has a very high 600mbps data rate in 4K 4.2.2./10 bit.
Thank you so much for taking time to shoot this kind of video . Magnificent tour of the new body .
As always, very helpful, my new SL3 is all set now. Thanks a lot!
Glad to help!
Very well explained👌🏼
Thanks for a good video. Are settings and options the same with Q3. I know there isn't an audio input. But is the rest the same?
Great video, thanks! One question, can it record to an external ssd disk?
Unfortunately not

i don't have the option for a 9x16 frame line in my camera. it has the latest firmware, how do I activate it?
Stills: Go to Menus Page 4. Aspect Ratio. Page 2, 16:9.
Video: 16:9 by default. Or use Custom Framelines in Info Views.
Can’t wait for the update where they abandon this incredibly convoluted coded selection menu and go with something that actually makes sense.

The SL3 cannot record raw to an external recorder. Only the SL2-S can do this - to a Atomos Ninja or to a Blackmagic Video Assist (BRAW).
Thanks! That’s surprising. Do you think they will update in future?
Do we need all these gadgets?
So it has opengate recording?
No open gate, sorry.
does it shoot external Braw uncropped?
No, currently only the SL2-S can record in raw to a BMD Video Assist or to an Atomos Ninja.
@@LeicaCameraAustralia thank you for this. took a while to find the answer. Any news on a SL3-S?
That would be telling...!
