Its gonna be intresting to see the performance delta between this and the Dimensity 9300. I still can't wrap my head around the monster CPU Setup on the 9300.
They released D8300 to rival SD7+G2 which is a legendary chipset with exceptional performance, and I have to say, i have really high hopes on Mediatek if the real world performance is as good as 7+G2. Looking at Qualcomm now, they wont be releasing any follow-up product for a long time, its a perfect time to steal the spotlight. Just a few things they need to take care of, driver updates, compatibility and devs support.
I love how Mediatek keep the old SoC setup..4 big cores and 4 efficiency cores..yeah it is not as powerful as Apple A bionic SoC but the efficiency is superb and it also can keep performance for long duration..
These not some on their flagship 9300
This is a mid range chip, not their flagship
Well it is still big mid little ... 1 of the 4 cores is overclocked to cover the big core gap.
My god this is a terrific release by Mediatek. Loving their releases
Gen-AI video on smartphones is a game-changer. Huge props to MediaTek for the Dimensity 8300 making this possible. Can't wait to see the creative possibilities explode!
the jump from the dimensity 8100 to this is MASSIVE
Powerhouse would be the right word for it. The speed, GPU upgrade, and energy efficiency are a game-changer with Dimensity 8300 SoC.
Gary, love your channel and I like your direct, simple style! Keep it up!
Glad you enjoy it!
it is going to be all about price for midrange
In my experience the number of transistors tends to correlate with performance. So I generally don't have to try to keep track of the differing types and numbers of cores just the transistor count.
So do you think Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is better because it has 15 billion transistors compared to 13 billion transistors on the 8300?
Any speedtest?? And also the new 8300 ultra review?
Hearing about the Dimensity 8250 ! Super curious to see phones with 320MP cameras! Imagine the crazy zoom capabilities!
Медиатек показывает класс💪👍 Как многое изменилось с 2019 года, когда медиатек первый раз серьёзно о себе заявил, показав Helio G90/G90T.
Exactly that chip set was one for their best and how they stepped up
Fun fact , Dimensity 8300 is more powerful and effecient than Sd8+gen1 , A16 bionic and Dimensity 9000+ processor.Geekbench A16 scores more but its iphone lover,no comments.....Dimensity 8300 max antutu score is 1.5 million 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wrong its 1.3 and never went higher..
@@AshbringerOnyxiasome went 1.4+ million
@@AshbringerOnyxiait only went to 1.5m when the Xiaomi tested it on its labs and you know what they do to achieve that antutu scores right
1,41
Can you make some Videos on different types Architecture and why is it so important for the Performance of Devices. Also how to choose the appropriate architectures.
I think I cover those kinds of things when each new CPU design (Cortex-A whatever) is launched. Plenty of videos here on this channel about them all. 👍
@@GaryExplains Thanks for the Reply, but as an IT Professional i do understand things easily, but there are a lot of students want to start from the fundamental level or from scratch. Any references would be valuable
Is duration driver support an issue from MediaTek, seeing as many are now looking for long term security updates from Android manufacturer m
This chipset is too powerful for midrange. Believe it or not, some brand quietly ignore this chipset in the product proposal meeting and choose other cheaper/slower options to not cannibalize their existing midrange market.
I expect no more than 3 models to be launched in 2024 with this chipset, the brands are more likely to choose D1300, D1200 or D8200.
The 8300 ultra however has a single a715 at the same 3.35ghz while the other 3 cores are over clocked at 3.20ghz. the 4 a510 cores run at 2.20gzh aswell...
The power efficiency of the Dimensity 8300 is a game-changer. Perfect for long-lasting battery life!
Flagship level cpu i think its cpu speed will be equal to D9200
Exploring the Dimensity 8300's 4-nanometer process reveals Mediatek's focus on power optimization, potentially leading to improved battery life and overall energy efficiency.
Great insight Gary👍👍
It is upper midrange. I hope the dimensity 7300 launching next year will compete with the 7 gen3 for the price category
7 Gen 3 is also upper midrange
@@rrageneral1499its GPU performance makes it lower midrange. So technically it should compete with the 7300.
The dimensity 8300 will compete with. SD 7+ gen 2 not the 7 gen 3
@@danielBACD8300 cpu is better than 8+gen 1, and equal to D9200...... 1.5m antutu
@@danielBACwhy it shouldn't comoete withe the 7 gen3 ? While they probably will be priced similarly then it def should be compared to it and here mtk just clears
MediaTek Dimensity 8300: Redefining premium experiences in 5G smartphones. Woah!
Watching this with my Poco X6 Pro 😁
Dose it support for videos editing?
Hearing about the latest Dimensity 8250, Curious about gaming on the Dimensity 8250. Can it handle Genshin Impact smoothly?
OK, ARM need to free the gpu drivers so mali devices (samsung and mediatek) could get fixes in some softwares.
Qualcomm will continue to eat the market if nothing change.
Is this better than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or latter?
I guess it's between Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and 2
What happened to speedtestG
Yeah what gives? I actually forgot about it
8300 ultra review please... and the speedtest vs snapdragon
Thank you

Mediatek uppermidrange CPU is very good
It can be mainstream if the price is right! Imagine samsung A5 series uses this chip
I want some D8300U vs SD8s Gen 3
What is it with ARM CPUs and their weird core setups. 1 fast, 3 just as fast in real life, but clocked a percent or two lower, then 4 small and slow cores. I bet the faster core is only there for marketing, because nobody can tell the difference between 3ghz and 3.3ghz. But anyway, this thing embarrasses that nasty Snapdragon!
Two words: Energy Efficiency.
Remember these things run off a small battery.
Is probable that we can see this chipset in some Poco phones next year
The only question I have is just why only 4MB of L3 cache...
It's got system cache AND L2.
It's 2 separate cache memory pools
It's in poco x6 pro now
Interesting it is called 8300 and 9300 was recently announced
This is their Mid Range Chip whereas 9300 is flagship.
@@rajattalnikar6167 so all 8000 are midrange and 9000 is flagship or how should the numbering be understood, lol
Yes, that is right and there is also a 7000 series and even a 6000 series!
@@GaryExplains so that is low and potato range? Lol.
I guess I am also just used to PC CPU and GPU naming that these ARM SoC naming is confusing to me.
8+Gen 1 killer 🔥
India me poco x6 Pro me AA Raha He 👌💯❤️🔥❤️💯👌📱 8300❤
Almost a Flagship?
I really enjoy running Asahi Linux for Apple Silicon on my M1 Mac Mini; it wipes the floor with my Intel-based Mac Mini running Debian 12. The Mac MIni's physical format is just right for my needs, so I very much look forward to running an ARM version of Linux on either this Dimensity 8300 or even a Snapdragon of some description. I'm not picky, and I'm sure either one would vastly outrun my ancient Intel-based Mac Mini as well.
Hopefully they get something like that working for the qualcom arm desktop processor.
lmao.. the 7 gen 3 is a downgrade
Almost as if Qualcomm knew they fcked up by making the 7+gen 2 too powerful 😂
So SD7Gen3 might be cheap Mainstream...
Why would be cheap? The cores are the same (if you put the same engine in 2 different car, and the only difference is the RPM what is allowed for them, then why should they sell it for cheaper? The same engine costed the same price for them, this is the same for the cores too), so the little differences (like better UFS support will not make a huge price difference, since the UFS drive is not included on the chip) will not make a huge differences in price, actually Qualcomm also using a higher profit margin like Mediatek, so even the "weaker" chip should be about the same in price.
@@TamasKiss-yk4st SD7Gen3 its a clear downgrade compared to dimmensity 8300
@@mrlk665 looks like at least - Photo quality and GPU speed might be a different story 🤷...
@@U_H89well gpu wise the 8300 seems really far ahead then both gen2+ and potentially gen3 too based on recent news so :3
Photo quality they all should be decently capable and it's up to the oems processing here imo
@@skyrimdj3620 okay, I am not into GPU, so might be you are right.
Usual expectation would be Snapdragon GPU faster than MTK 🤷
Mediatek's naming culture sucks big time. Bet they'll change to something else after 9990 is over
LoL
At least they're better than snapdragon
@@Sus4realtho I don't think so, not always. Who knows tomorrow Broadcom gets better than the two.
Using a poco x6 pro with this chipset and it's too powerful for the price
How the hell did this video get more likes than views?
It didn't.
@@GaryExplains just saw it there.
YT mobile said 28K likes for some reason. (No I wasn't falling asleep). It's fixed now.
🤷♂️
I’m wondering how good is it for generative ai? Can they make an inference device with 100gb+ ram?
If it can do 10 tokens per second with 70b llm models then I’d buy it.
Fff
Regardless of how good Mediatek SOCs get, I wouldnt touch them with a ten foot pole. 😂
Until they start actually start embracing the developer community and start supporting their hardware, their SOCs are essentially just for people who dont know any better and who are comfortable having their hardware just supported for one or two official generations of manufacturer software.
Ya know, for all the public emphasis on "reusability" and "environmental / climate consciousness", the top brass do seemingly go out of their way to implement their planned obsolescence schemes.
Seems a tad schizophrenic if ya ask me 😂 pick a lane and stick in it lol
You realize that it is the responsibility of the phone maker, not the processor maker (or the screen maker or the battery maker, etc), to provide updates etc. MediaTek (from my conversations with various employees) gives everything it should to the OEMs. Your comment should be directed at Vivo, Realme, etc, not MediaTek.
@@GaryExplains lol dont obfuscate the issue. Mediatek could actually provide source code to the developer community so that they could support phones long after the official manufacturers dont... that is what Im referring to.
And that is exactly what Qualcomm and others do.. Mediatek is just the odd one out.
Well, it is actually up to the OEMs to support their phones, not the chip maker. If the OEM releases the source code then you get community support. For example, Amazon uses MediaTek chips and releases all of the source code. You really should be angry with Vivo, etc not MediaTek. It is the companies actually making the devices that should support those devices and the developer community. What you should have written is that you won't touch Vivo, or Realme with a ten foot pole until they start supporting their customers with long term support and the developer community. The problem with your approach is that you are making Vivo etc guiltless, because you know that they won't change and won't support the developer community, so you turn your frustration to MediaTek, which isn't right.
Where can I download the source code for the latest OnePlus device or Samsung device that use a Snapdragon processor, from Qualcomm's servers? Please give me a link.
@@GaryExplains You SHOULD absolutely make a video deep diving into this issue, Gary. You are the guy to do it. The fact that there are many still perfectly serviceable phones that dont get the attention they deserve is a weird thing, considering the backdrop of "resource wastage" and consumption reduction that is becoming official policy.
I know they need to balance all this in order to keep the economy and sales going, it obviously is not an easy topic to approach, but I know you would do it justice.
