How did Nasubi's ancestors conduct the succession contest if it needs privacy? The fact that nasubi just arranged this voyage for deciding the heir seems kinda overkill to me
It's a good question. The first king of Kakin was only leading a small tribe, constantly in danger of being absorbed by much larger ones. So his succession contest was necessarily a pretty small affair: it was neither possible to fight over a whole country, since he didn't have one, nor necessary, since his heir wouldn't end up ruling one. There wasn't much killing to cover up, nor would it have been such a big deal if word got around-they weren't exactly visible on the world stage, and all of this was taking place before mass communication. Kakin is clearly modeled after China-recently a developing nation, but now joining the big leagues as a superpower. It's also recently reorganized itself as a "democracy" (in name only), which is why technically the new Kakin state hasn't signed the treaty against going to the Dark Continent (I skimmed over this for time). The challenges facing a new ruler will be very different and the country's PR will be more important than ever, especially now that it's a part of V6. The possibility of economic sanctions is explicitly mentioned quite early! So from Nasubi's perspective, it's never been more important to measure large-scale statecraft as an element of the succession contest, and it's also never been more important to hide the brutality of the ritual. (This is speculation, but I imagine the previous War, which selected Nasubi, might have taken place in a small Kakin town, then been covered up with a story about an industrial accident or some kind of famine, since it had to have happened during Kakin's industrial revolution. It certainly involved as many people as possible, since by design, the War is about indirect methods-the Guardian Beasts can't attack princes or each other directly. I'll talk more about that in the third video in this series.)
The liltle bits of humour u put in your analasys realy elevates the video for me. Maybe its my dopamine craving brain, that is also why i wasnt able to follow this arc properly. Thank u for the video
As bleak as it sounds, it's becoming more likely than not that Togashi's going to retire entirely or flat out be unable to pick up a pen for the forseeable future before Gon comes back into the story. I think as a fanbase we have a duty to read this story as it comes for what it is. We don't know when the next set of chapters will be the last.
One of the best hxh videos i've stumbled upon randomly, every time Hxh announces its return i usually rewatch the entire thing and rereads everything before the return , this time i'm so busy that i won't be able to do it so i've been looking for a recap, its not like i don't remember whats happening i've read the chaps at least 3-5 times , but still its so complicated that a recap is appreciated , but the analysis in this video blew me away, the Audio quality isn't that great xD but keep up the good work , just one thing i want to clarify, imo i don't think you did Pariston justice , its true what you said about him, but i really doubt he simply did it to kill Netero , after all he trully enjoyed teasing him like he said , i think he's in it for himself same as Ging , contrary to Satch ' the mokey zodiac not sure about his name ; i think the monkey is 100% committed to Beyond while Pariston is simply riding the Ship along and he''s using Beyond and his team the same way beyond is using him , imo he'll show his true color anytime soon
Thanks for the heads up about the audio, will try to edit out the noise better in the next one! And I agree that Pariston isn't *only* motivated by helping out Beyond's plan. He's just working with Beyond for the moment (you could theorize that it's because Ging wants to go to the DC, so getting Beyond's plan to go off is a sure way to get Ging to show up, and Pariston wants to have his sick rivalry there).
very sick video thx for this, big plus mentioning welfin for me one of the most important characters, i always imagine him not saying komugi and getting the king go full ant not human, but thats just me i gues
i love this comment i found years back, any thoughts? This why I know togashi gonna pull off this arc in perfectly epic fashion. I've seen almost every single movie and tv show since around 1985 to around 2015, i've read hundreds of fantasy books, read thousands of comics, read tens of thousands of manga, and out of them all Togashi is the only author in existence that is actually pulling off a so-called 'battle-royale'. Hundreds of authors/directors have tried something like this and they've all failed miserably because what Togashi is doing is insanely difficult to pull off. For perspective its like if George RR Martin put every major character in game of thrones on a massive ship, and then had them all fight to the death to figure out who would be king while also incorporating the underworld, the legitimate rulers of GRR Martins world (aka the top hunters), an expedition of an unknown land, and all within the realms of the best battle system in existence aka nen (Togashi made it to be as similar to real life as possible...). He's above genius level. One of these days Ill make videos explaining how HxH is actually legitimately real life. Togashi was interviewed about how he came up with nen back in 2004-06 i forget the exact date, you gotta use the wayback machine to fine the interview on an obscure japaneses blog, but Togashi is asked how he came dup with the 'nen battle system' and Togashi responds, 'i just made my battle system as close to actual reality as possible' or something along those lines. Reread HxH as if its real life and its how the top 1000 or so humans on the entire planet operate. HxH is the universal conspiracy theory in plain sight, not 'hidden in plain sight', its just 'in plain sight', reread it as if its how the rulers of earth operate. Togashi is a GENIUS.
@@thekingtserriednich9510 Togashi definitely relates Hunters to real people who dedicate themselves utterly to a single pursuit. He finds these people very cool and impressive-they can achieve things beyond what's normal. At the same time, just look at Ging (the quintessential Hunter) and you see that Togashi also has mixed feelings about this type of person. An utterly-dedicated-to-his-pursuit Togashi wouldn't have had time for a wife or children, just as Ging didn't have time for Gon. So Ging is a sort of "What if?" exercise about Togashi's own path in life, IMO. I'm glad Togashi chose to live a more balanced life, as I think he's happier for it! It's more fun to read about Hunters than to be one.
Nasubi definitely doesn’t intend to survive, the 14th coffin is 100% meant for him. His handling of the 9th Prince makes this clear to me. Plus why would he empower his children just to have them all killed? Unless the sacrifice requires it. Plus we know he went through this process himself at some point, so it’s pretty safe to assume this is to actually appoint a heir. Him having the Goya painting and it being shown to us so prominently, is the only hint towards a 4D level of treachery on Nasubi part.
Actually if the Chimera Ant Arc didnt happen and Chairman Netero didnt die, Beyond probably have lower chances to go back to the Dark Continent despite his alliances with the Kakin Empire. I believe that is one of the little details that the people seems to ignore or forget off.
That's precisely why Pariston maneuvered to make sure the association's resources were misused, raising the chance that Isaac would have to sacrifice himself, as I went over. Beyond and Nasubi were most likely prepared to execute this plan years in advance, so if Isaac hadn't died, they would have just kept on waiting for his natural death and done it then.

Awesome video.
Ps: Yeah, I have to admit that once upon a time I was "Now gon will be a specialist and go to the dark continent" 😅😅😅
I welcome reformed sinners of all types to the Succession War Church
Dark continent? Hisoka VS Chrollo? bro I just got to Greed Island
Excellent video. The succession war is my favourite arc :)
