While I agree that the Shooting Star Press and Moonsault did revolutionize wrestling in the early 90s, we cannot understate Jake the Snake inventing the DDT. That move changed wrestling forever.

Agreed! People would be chanting for the DDT like they would later chant for tables in the attitude era. I'd also add Arn Anderson's spinebuster for early 90s finishers. He did it best.

Not really, he would normally lift the opponent for the slapjack then drop them, while the pedigree is normally just a straight drop. But Skinner did use it a couple as a finisher before he was told to stop so he used the gator breaker (reverse ddt) instead. he was pretty much a jobber to the stars so when Vince seen that move he stole it and stopped him from using it in the WWF.

@@bdenneysr85 Two of those three are subjective I think. There was times in WCW Goldberg threw himself into opponents like a lawn dart. Those instances solidified the Spear. Guy even knocked himself silly a few times by putting his head too low.
And same for Raven. Some Evenflow DDTs he delivered made him look like Jake The Snake. Just fast, head planting moves. Jake also had a BEAUTIFUL short arm clothesline.
The Scorpion Death Drop I’ll give you though. Moves like Christian’s original Unprettier made the Scorpion Death Drop look weak. Even the Evenflow had more impact. Plus we must never forget Goldust’s Curtain Call put the Scorpion Death Drop to shame.

I still listen to people who tell that Jake invented DDT and it was massive revolution in pro wrestling and then we fast fast forward in 2015s evenryone has their pan DDT and superkick.
Kudos to Jon Moxely/ Dean Ambrose because not only he has protected aura of that move but bascially reinvented the same move for like 4 times during ekach different run, btw that book driver in shield days is still badass but it tooks setup and time so he moved to fast pacy kick to the and outta know here thing but he has then reinvented it.
And when he debuted in NJPW he introduced a new version Death Rider (badass name than paradigm shift) and boy it is like I really want to kill you by dropping you on head but I can't. And that is how you make a finisher believable, not in AEW watch him dropping Suzuki or Juice on head and you will think he has murdered someone in ring kudos for them selling it well, too.

It depends on what he means by “best finisher of the year” like if you go by the story being told then Judas effect was the best in 2019 and the P shift was the best in 2020 but if he meant more of what move Simon personally thought was best then the buckshot is perfectly acceptable choice.
