Unfortunately yeah even when the company went belly up, they were still under said contract. Kinda like when WWE releases a wrestler, there's still a full 90 day no-work clause saying they can't get officially hired by anyone till that time is up.

Lucha Underground was FANTASTIC, it was the most unique pro wrestling product made in a long time, their format that mixed fiction with wrestling was top notch, motherF*ckres were killing characters and bringing them back like it was a horror movie. Damn i miss it.
I loved Lucha Undergroun. Even though they were kind of sloppy at times (this video has some examples... Lots of pinfalls without both shoulders touching the ground), the unique storylines, atmosphere and slick presentation were awesome. Not to mention it was my first exposure to some of my favorite modern wrestlers. I started watching AEW because of how many Lucha Underground guys they had.

Loved LU, I should go back and binge watch it. There were a lot more people that came out of LU than I realized Thunder Rosa, Isaiah Swerve Scott and Luchasaurus are three I didn't even know about until I listened to some interviews over the last year or so.
