Hi I got a meepo mini 2 short board which I really enjoyed using. But I am going to get another board. I'm looking to get a direct drive longboard. So it was interesting what you changed on the meepo board. One question is it easy to put on different wheels like slick wheels or Clouds or Foamies and the tire type you have on the board your doing in the video? Thanks Mark
Thanks for making this vid! Saves me money as I was considering buying these as on paper they seem like the perfect solution. I was actually planning on buying two sets and doing AWD with 120mm SR Foamies and two Skywing 6.6 vescs.Though it's got potential, I'll wait until they've got better quality and some bugs worked out. The motors cogging and not at least somewhat free-rolling is a major deal breaker for me.
agreed, i was just planning the exact same thing. esp with that ground clearance direct drive doesnt seem as much better than hubs. the grinding sound in this vid doesn't seem like the problem though! its highly likely a problem with the bearings.
i want to buy some direct drive motors for my artic blue 110mm wheels. where can i get those Kegel parts and what motors will slide over the truck. what brands are there. thankyou
Hey! I am having some hub issues and meepo isnt compacting me lol, but I was thinking of doing the same with my v3. What is the top speed of this? That is one thing that you didn't tell us. It seems very powerful. How fast is the acceleration too?
it is very powerful and fast with the right ESC. the meepo ESC im using is terrible, fastest was 8mph. with the upgraded ESC from mboard, i was easily hitting at least 15mph but i didnt want to go faster cause i didnt want to die.
Good video. Thanks for sharing. I bought the same motors and change my wowgo, it's similar to yours. Thorough I dropped my double kingpins to single. Bearings issues. Change them to bones red. The meepo and wowgo esc uses a smaller jst connector. No issues when using hall sensors. The colour configuration is also different. It's red, yellow, blue, green and black. Would like to see what range you get as the direct drives seem power hungry compared to my wowgo 100mm hubs. Noticed stronger breaking with the direct drives over the hubs. How about you?
my meepo ESC does not like the DD motors. the max speed i get is around 7mph, even in expert mode. i need to get a better ESC or something to fully test the range. what ESC are you using?
@@dablet oops my bad. I meant my meepo 100mm hubs. I'm using meepo v3 esc and the metal spoke 105mm wheels on the DD which gets me up to 20mph+. I'm not light. Also I've got an 8.6 ah Sanyo/Tesla battery running. Not sure why you're not getting any decent speeds. Remember boundmotor batteries start at 9.6ah and go to 14ah.
What about wobbling with the bones red ? I'm interested in those as the Torqueboards are very expensive !!! I plan to use them with a Flipsky Dual FSESC6.6 Plus and a 12S2P spare battery pas from my Backfire G3 (Samsung 21700 30T). And no free wheel at all ? Thanks in advance !
If the bearings are making a grinding noise. Try these simple steps. 1. Take wheel off and take off bearings. 2. Use small flathead screwdriver or thumb tack to pop the shields off the bearings. 3. Apply some multi-purpose lithium grease into the bearings. Use a screwdriver to dab some grease into the inside of the bearings. 4. Pop shields back on to your bearings. 5, Install bearings and spacer into your wheels. And place your wheel onto your Truck and tighten it with a skate tool or socket wrench. Last, your ready to ride. If you would like to learn more on greasing bearings. See this video here. Thank you! m.th-cam.com/video/hDxqTJh7fG8/w-d-xo.html
i am still using the Meepo1 esc, so im only getting max speed of 8mph. i need to upgrade to a VESC. Bound Motor sells it for $220 with remote too boundmotor.com/product/vesc/
I think this is better solution as Revel kit is also expensive but the battery pops off when riding so it's kind of risky. Not too sure about the latest one.
Likely needs a different ESC to handle the new motor...

Cool I might do this on my Meepo V3,but for the price of DD kit I can get another meepo V3🤔
Hi, is it safe to assume this kit will fit any hub motor board?. I agree bit the hub system does feel a .bit harsh
Does the dd kit comes with the wheels already?or have to order it separate?thanks
the wheels sold separately for me. they are actually pretty good!
How do you like how it rides? I'm looking at buying these. Also, have you tried their other airless wheels?
It may be that you tighten the wheels too tight. Try loosen it up. Similar problem with my belt drive. Loosen up fixed it for me and had no problem.
Nope, these motors are cogging because the insane amount of torque they are capable of.

Which wowgo do you have? I have a wowgo 3 thinking of upgrading to this motor. Is it a simple replacement and you use the same original ESC?

did you have to rewire to connect the hall sensors?

Does this work with wowgo? What ESC are you using?

Save up for the torque boards DD kit and get a vesc
Was this the kit before the upgrade
How much faster is it?
was the free roll any different between the 2
absolutely no free roll with DD motors.
really so the direct drive had less ? thats great cuz i got the r2 and enertion is dead so i gotta swapo the Drive train
Were wires too long ?
Holy crap that sounds fast but loud 😳 😬
nice ! Try the Revel kit, it's perfect
Hey, does the revel kit have free roll wheels? So if I wanted to push would that work?
I think this is better solution as Revel kit is also expensive but the battery pops off when riding so it's kind of risky. Not too sure about the latest one.
AkaliA Ø I mean revel kit can be put on any board and is like the same price as this, I’ve heard good things about it other than it’s range
@@samreason9856 Yeah I think I confused myself as different kit, not this one. Doh.
nice video enjoyed all the info thanks
that rubber thing you put on the handle looks so ugly and bad lol why would you do that 🤣🤣
contoured to my fingers to i can hold it comfortably.
dablet00 i can understand that if you have to carry it for a long period of time. my fault it just doesn’t look very good that’s all.
You need to upgrade your ESC. You haven't upgraded your power or torque at all, you just reduced road vibrations.
Why not do a speed test the reason to the noise is cos it’s direct drive
good good good 👍👍👍
