Can’t believe how many people were down there watching it! It was the bloke with the dog at the end that really got me, 😂 fair enough if you want to risk your own neck but that poor dog didn’t have much of a choice. As for anyone taking kids there.. well... just speechless. Still, as long as you can get the phone out and record it, hey! 🤦♂️
Not only are you putting yourself at risk from the waves and debris but you've got kids with you as well. Irresponsible is an understatement just to get all excited over a rough sea....
Whilst I get that a rough and very dangerous sea is exhilarating! Thank God no debris hit kids or animals. Respect for the sea is utmost!🌊🌊 not really the best role model putting their own kids in potential danger..? Just thankful that no one was hurt❤
I agree 💯..you must have respect for the sea,no.place for children as fabulous it is to watch. Those massive waves have been know to take lives. Please stay safe❤
Wow that was bad indeed and the poweer of water for all to see. I do hope you power washed vehicle after all that water and salt on your car.. Great video.
Oh my oh my such devastation at my beloved Teignmouth 😢I hope you are all safe and well 😊the beauty of Mother Nature but the devastation stay safe everyone ❤😊xx
The salt water will ruin any soil and plants, not just damage vehicles and structures. In olden days warring armies wouid salt the fields of their enemies to destroy their food supply. So much damage, it's scary. I hope the climate change sceptics get a clue. All sorts of weather extremes rarely seen before. 😢
That is absolutely superb! Thanks for posting this. Incredible! Must have been amazing to have actually witnessed it! The power of nature never ceases to amaze me and it’s just air in motion! Not so sure about the lack of wisdom used by parking so close to the waters edge though at the end of the video. Won’t do your car any good that’s for sure! I’ve got a Rav 4 too. Fortunately, it’s under sealed!
The pier is a family buisness that was already battered completely in a storm a few years ago, with most the rides taken off of the pier itself :(( I really hope they will be able to recover and keep running after this damage although I'm not sure
Fantastic footage of awesome power well done and as stated that silly old man at the end making his dog be apart of his foolishness doesn't sit well with me
I was down there on the Saturday evening, it was throwing up boulders the size of your television. Evokes memories of an occasion in the mid-to-late 1970s, I was 10-ish, it was a dark mid-evening and father parked the mk I Ford Escort estate containing myself and my sisters right on the edge of the sea wall up at the other end of the prom, near the outdoor swimming pool, during stormy seas. Not quite as stormy as this but stormy enough to make it a foolish stunt nonetheless. Waves crashing over the car. I thoroughly enjoyed it but my sisters were, understandably, having kittens - which was probably the silly old duffer's intention. He eventually saw sense and departed the scene before the scene departed us. The insurance company might not have paid out in such reckless circumstances.
@@StonecoldZigAustin - I was thinking of this as I was typing that but wary of blotting out the internet with my biblical sagas. Since you mention it ... I was returning (to Teignmouth) from Exeter by train, late afternoon / early evening on a Saturday. Not that I can commit specific days to memories but by deduction it would have to have been a Saturday for me to make that trip. Pre-dusk visibility was all-but-lost to waves crashing over the train carriages as we teetered slowly along the Dawlish stretch, stopping for a few minutes at several intervals. As you might imagine, a murmur of high-pitched female consternation in the air. I enjoyed it - not necessarily the screeching and wailing inside the carriage but the wild nature outside. Seems crazy now that they would continue operating so close to the cusp of inoperable conditions - as if driving slowly would evade the attention of the angry sea. They could have coughed up for a few taxis there and then and laid on some semblance of a bus replacement service thereafter.
Why are we drawn towards the one thing that can damage us? Thats not a few white horses, thats a stampede!! So good that you didn't put a dodgy sound track over it, the ferocity of the wind is music enough. Thanks for sharing.
7 is God's favorite number, 7 days of the week, 7 days of Jericho, a giraffe has 7 vertebrae in its neck so do we and a mouse and every 7th wave is the highest.
we all know what we are doing, however the sea in storm conditions is freak and powerful ,car on its roof, family swept out , not in the script, does not cut it! stay safe, frontline filming , a risk beyond me!
Teignmouth is known to me. Where Dawlish will probably survive better than this. Teignmouth is much more vulnerable and less able to absorb the damage. Further back towards the town - it ought to be safer - even so! This is still unprecedented! It's going to be the case that the flower beds will not be restored. If the result is that if this weather is due to environmental damage - then it would be a waste of time and money to restore these.

@@stevegleed5snowflakes aka ? 🤔🤣❄❄
That would have ruined your new high heels and skirt, Rich.
Great footage. No thought for safety; the young child could easily have been lost to the power of these waves. TAKE CARE!!!!!!!
Love the commentary, lived in teignmouth for 10yrs, never seen it this bad...wish i was there!
You must be carefully as it’s not only water that comes crashing over but stones too. They hit you, you’ll be on your way to A&E.
You mean careful
specially mick jagger

Great coverage, Teignmouth got a right battering. The power of the water is amazing.

Thanks for filming. Thats wicked weather.
Fantastic footage, thank you!! Stay safe all.
Oh wow ! The size of those waves !!
I live on the north west coast. If the weather is like that we are not allowed to walk along. I’m surprised the police weren’t patrolling.

"Fortunately, it’s under sealed!"
You need to add some more seal then so it's sealed fully.
All the sea water over and under the cars, well I would expect some rust and corrosion issues in the near future.
Do you ever drive on salted roads?
Superbe région 😮 c'est très beau,
Devon is blessed with natural beauty - the coast and the moors.
The pier is in such a state of disrepair I’m suprised it will withstand this
Wow fantastic footage 🌊
The sea waves at us but did you wave back??!!!! 👋😆
Amazing the pier is still standing
All that energy... it would make loads of electricity... the power of water 💙

Thoughts.n prayers for coastline Businesses and all First Resoondet Teams /Forces/Council Teams 💔💔🙏🏻
Would like to see the final damage after the storm passes. Did any more beach huts get damaged or destroyed?
Crazy ❤❤❤
Yes it is amazing, but I feel sorry for anyone whose homes have been damaged. 😢

Good point. Although I'm not a fan of histrionic 'whooping' reactions, there's no motivational muzak that comes close to the sounds of nature.
Great footage! You're a braver man than me Gunga Din! That poor pier!. Keep those little ones safe!
What ?
Has it been raining?
Careful! Sometimes the waves wash out entires structures.
Superbe image😂😮❤ bonjour de vos voisins de loin bretons de Quimper

I walked over to the pier it was absolutely battered it got into the machinery and ruined electrical stuff (in the arcade)

Spectacular but what damage.
Why are people bringing their dogs into danger like this? ESPECIALLY THE CHIHUAHUA!! 😂
Ziggy you say damaged, I say improved !
Stop sensatipnalizing every bloody thing...the front hasn't been destroyed....Grow up, baby
Sewage Brown Water aww 💩 🚿 when u come home
Indeed. Massively over developed housing in that area and the raw sewage is often pumped out in a delightful brown cloud as the tide recedes.
time they had some decent builders down there every thing is rubbish for a sea front
On confirme par Toutatix sacrée tempête
Bonne journée voisins
Keyboard trolls can moan but I know what I’m doing :) and would not put my children in danger. Rest assured.

His commentary drove me mad!!
Not a great place to park 😂
People moan & post videos of their ‘poor dog’ on Bonfire night. How is it ok to make yr dog endure this?
PLEASE, this isn't safe. So nervous watching this. With children too, what are you teaching them for heavens sake? So irresponsible of you.
