@@tonys1636 diesel is more economical. Running catenary would increase the price. Plus it becomes a liability if there are power outages due to tropical storms and hurricanes.
This changes everything! Hopefully more of these gets built. A high speed train connecting New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Washington, Houston, Philly, Atlanta and Boston would be great.
Not going to happen. There is a thing called the National Environmental Policy Act or NEPA. To run high speed rail like in Europe would require a separate right of way with No grade crossings plus the curvatures to make it feasible would RIP out many existing parts of communities and historical areas let alone an environmental liability. Also Environmental Justice groups would protest against it as well. You may see improvements like better scheduling and maintenance but it is not cost effective to go beyond that. Also every politician would want the train to stop in their district rendering a high speed system meaningless.
Do you realize how far apart New York and Los Angeles are? No high speed train can ever compete with flying between the coasts. And there is already a high speed train between Boston, Washington, New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. The reason high speed rail does well in Europe is the countries are smaller so you can get from one place to another in a much shorter time.
I'm very happy for Brightline. After all it's been through, it's finally accomplished something it's wanted to accomplish for so long (and it's not even through yet). This is something that should have been happening in America since the 80s, and now it's become a reality (better late than never). I am skeptical they can be successful. I hope they can be. It is NOT really high speed, You can drive from most places in South Florida in the same time as this train and it is not cheap. They must be banking on enough tourist who want to visit both Miami and Orldand, but again it is no cheaper than airtravel in most instances. I dont know what the complelling argument is??
This makes a lot of sense. In Europe, we are very well connected to Miami but not to Orlando for direct flights. For Disney, I’d say it’s more than feasible to now fly direct to Miami and then train it up to Disney 😛
@@AssBlasster yep - I would still want to get a rental car. As I understand, the only direct flights to Orlando from Europe are London, Manchester and Frankfurt. Maybe one or two others. For me, I’d now fly direct from Madrid to Miami, hop on the train and then rent the car 😝
not really honestly. the problem with the US is that we're so slow to do literally everything, if we wanted to build an actual long-distance high speed railway somewhere else, not only would it be expensive it would take decades. other countries do it in months.
@@jer6183 The issue isn’t that we can’t do it, we can. Or we could ask our allies to help build it. The issue is that the car and plane industry would fight it because they would make less money. That’s what it comes down to. High speed trains around America would be great and a cheap alternative but less people would buy cars which means less taxes. Less gas. Less oil changes. Less tires being brought. All these corporations would have a fit. So they sabotage everything which is why we’re in the Stone Age unfortunately. 🤷🏾♀️
A SunRail connection combined with longer hours and weekend service on SunRail would be amazing. I'm excited about the future Tampa connection for Brightline as well.
Yeah. If Sunrail connected to the airport I would use The Brightline, as I live near the Maitland station. Otherwise it's $24 /day parking or $24+ each way on the Uber. 😢
looks very nice 👍🏻 our trains in Switzerland have the same seat configuration 2 / 1 in premium or first class and 2 / 2 in second class. with this stable timetable with one train every hour you can build a stable timetable for bus and everything as we have it 👍🏻🍀

Since I’ve heard about Brightline over a year ago I was slowly awaiting the news for the Orlando station to be created and now open . I’m in Miami and I’ve been to Orlando many times with family in a car . I don’t have my own transportation over there but now I will be using the trains as soon as rides are available. More opportunities for me to visit family and see the various parks
Once upon a time not so long ago America had private rail lines and competition. The competition kept the price in check and lead to competitors offer more pleasing g accommodations to consumers. It is a blessing to see this as a resurgence to that type and choice offered to the people once again.
I've been taking Brightline WPB-FLL twice or more monthly since January, and it's very nice. Rarely is it late & staff both onboard the trains & at the stations are helpful & friendly. The MCO station is much nicer than the WPB & FLL stations, probably because it's in the airport. I'm very happy for them!
I really envy the integrated design of the airport, High-speed train, tram and car connections. And it would be too nice to relax in the station lounge until departure and then relax and travel in the spacious car. I would faint if there were even more Ekiben on this, but no way, right?
@@RenataPereiraTV FYI, by car it is about 2 1/2 hours. They say that it takes about 3 hours from downtown Miami to Orlando Airport. By car it it around 3 1/2 hours. So not much faster. Yes, at max speeds the train can reach 209 kmh (about 125 mph), but over half the time the train goes under 110 kmh (70 mph) which is what a car can do on major highways. There are just too much congestion (sprawl) and grate crossings to run much about the 110 kmh (70 mph) speeds and given the population density in those areas, it would be impossible to go faster for any extended period.
This is such a game changer for Florida. I hope they go up to Tallahassee. When I was in college in Tallahassee, I always had to drive home to Miami seven or eight hours.
Wow 🎉I’m glad Orlando is changing. I lived there for 23 years and they had light rail downtown. I left 5 years ago and this was all talk. Glad to see it’s finally getting done.

exciting would be to get 300km/h bullet train like in Japan. But it is what it is. For shortest periods of time it will accelerate up to 130mph, but not for a long time.
I'm happy to see this was built after so many years of talking about it. However, people will try it out because it's something new but when they realize that flying is half the price, they'll do that instead. Especially when the train station in Orlando is at the airport lol. Like did no one on this project ever think to pull out their phone and google flights from one destination to the other. Not to mention after the time it takes to get to the station, park, walk, wait for security, get through security, wait for train, board, wait for departure, it'll be quicker to drive (disregarding major traffic). And much cheaper.

Brightline doesn't need to capture the entire market to be a success, it just needs to keep its trains relatively full. People in this thread keep talking about how driving is easier, OK, keep driving, you were never the target market.
I'm excited to get trains in Florida, however, I have a hybrid car and spend less in gas money for a round trip to Orlando in my car than the cheapest pricepoint of this train. Not to mention, the inconvenience of having to drive or Uber to the airport, paying for my train ticket, and then arriving in Orlando and having to rely on Uber or other modes of transport to get me around. My car is still the more viable and cost-effective way to get to and from Orlando to Miami. This model makes more sense to me if the train was taking me to NYC or just another state in general, that's where I think this would really shine.

$79 one way is insane! You can do roundtrip a lot cheaper by flying or even driving! Imagine if you are a couple with or even without kids... It is too much
@@tinawalker5335 should be like 20$ per trip for a single person and even have better prices for a bundle/family, it's not cheap at all. Imagine having a family of 4 and having to pay that for each plus fees and bags, to me the whole idea was to make transportation very cheap and fast so people wouldn't even see it as planning a vacation but more or less taking a quick public transport spending a day in Disney and coming back to Miami even in the same day. Plus you have to rent a car after you arrive there to drive around, so it would be more practical still to rent a big car in Miami and drive with your whole family there, it's just not as accessible.
Finally! They have been talking about this train ever since I went to high school in the Orlando area in the 80’s. That would be great if it came up to the Atlanta area where I live. Delta wouldn’t like that. 😂

We have a perfectly good train station that'll get people all the way up the east coast AND out west...and it's been collecting dust for half a century. We need rail to become a viable competitor to airports, because flying kinda sucks.

I wish the chairs reclined alittle but more. Very nice design and great lounge. I think the additional security and bag check is annoying as one perk when getting on at BWI to new York with Acela or Amtrak Station was the ease of transfer. Can’t wait for the local line additions and bus connection for Florida to have a complete metro. Great improvement! Shoutout from Japan.
Personally, I'm glad the seats don't recline any more than they do. It's awful when somebody has to put their seat all the way back into my lap, and then if I want to get up, it's in the way.
Very European! Love it! Next time I head to Miami, I have see about flying into MCO and taking Brightline for the experience. Love seeing private passenger rail gaining traction. I enjoyed my long distance trip on Amtrak last year, but they could benefit from modern competition.
Far from European. Here in Europe high speed is considered to be around 186mph or over. And our high speed rails are electrified unlike these slow diesel brightline trains that barely make it to 100mph
LOL in Europe you don´t have to waste time checking luggage or getting fondled by security theater. Get on the platform 30 seconds before departure if you wish. US has a lot to learn.
@@mitzy123 You sound goofy. Europe has a number of high speed trains that operate at 125 MPH/200 KMH, the same top operational speed Brightline will do enroute to Orlando. Not every train in Europe is flying at 186+ MPH/300+ KMH..

I gotta go to pretty much an airport, get all checked in, etc. If I go in my car I'll waste less in gas and I can just get out of the house and go! The rail line should be a great thing for the area. I've been watching construction on my trips along the 528 from Orlando to Cocoa and they made great progress cutting through the trees, underbrush and swamps. And of course, there's a guard rail to keep animals from getting on the rails, because after all, raccoons, turtles and a lot of other wildlife is all around. 😁
you realize that the governor at the time rejected money from the government to build a rail system all people can use, to privately invest in this that takes you from one shopping center to another at 100.00+ a pop. Nothing about this is good for Floridians. This is for Disney tourists to catch the cruise down south. This isn't to reduce traffic traveling long distances across Florida.

It's an alternative but it doesn't add up for me. We're in Davenport and whenever we go to Fort Lauderdale or Miami to go on a cruise, we're typically 4 people. It's much cheaper and just as fast, if not faster, to drive.
@@BlackBullsGo Gas would cost around $100 round trip. Tolls maybe another $100. Parking for a week long cruise around $105. So $305. If I take Brightline, I have to drive to MCO, where parking is much more than $15 per day. Alternatively, Uber to MCO is around $55-80, depending on the time of day. But I would need that both ways. Even the cheapest round trip Brightline fares would cost $158 per person. Multiplied by 2 people, that's more than driving. Multiply it by 4, and driving is much cheaper than Brightline. Plus, you're mobile once in Miami.
I’m taking the regular train to Miami from Tampa for a long cruise. I haven’t tried any of the commuter airlines yet and I hate long drives. Parking for 12 nights would cost the same amount. Don’t cruise out of Miami often but would definitely welcome a high speed train connecting Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
I wish they would connect these train stations to popular areas within the urban core. Most of these stations are placed outside the urban core and require additional transit to get there.
They still need to extend the line to there are two additional stations, one at Universal Orlando theme park and one at Disney World. I believe construction of this extension is expected to start within the next year or so.

Yeah right that side of the train line got shelved because Orlando got greedy. They had already mostly built the line running to Disney and then people started complaining and instead of making two lines they Fikrt back-and-forth waste of time and money and now nobody’s getting a line anytime soon to the theme parks. As a frequent Disney guess I’m beyond aggravated and I refuse to spend a penny with brightline until they fix the situation and put the Disney line back in place as they were supposed to do! !

I was in Miami and missed my flight and cruise because of no more planes to the port. I have been asking for this for a long time just our country is always plane dependent. I am glad this is happening.
Well it's a bit more then I expected being that it's 30-60 on Spirit Airlines and you arrive much faster. It's possible to do a round trip on a plane for the price of one way on the train. hmmmm ya fancy train and station though!
Hopefully this proves successful so that it can be implemented throughout the rest of the country. I would love access to high speed rail so that I am no so dependent on cars.
I fly *a lot*, but after experiencing the comfort and convenience of trains in Europe and Japan, I'd pick this train service all day, every day, over any commercial air carrier in the U.S., no question. Except for very long distances, train travel is superior in nearly every passenger metric. Even for longer distances, it's superior, as long as you're ok trading comfort for speed. Very few people prefer feeling like a sardine compact in a flying pressurized metal tube.
I hear ya and concur. When you add getting thru airport lines, waiting and then having to get up in the air and down safely...train is preferred by us. Hope many more train routes are developed here in the USA
As an Orlando lake Nona resident I’ve been very excited about this opening. However, terminal C parking is already full most days so i have no idea how this is going to work.
This is great! Every detail in the train is well thought out. I am surprised by the light colored seats. We’ll see what color they are after a few months/years in service.
I can see this being beneficial for tourist, but for locals it’s just so much cheaper to drive yourself and the time difference doesn’t seem that much better than driving. I think for this to really work it needs to be either cheaper than driving or substantially faster than driving. Like if you can get to Miami in 90 minutes that would be a true game changer.

More of this everywhere! We have to stop having so many cars on the road burning fossil fuels. Progress! The prices are too high but that's to be expected at first.... although I've always thought of mass transit as a service that really shouldn't matter if it makes a profit.
Is checking in your luggage required or optional? I don't really see the point of doing that for a train journey. One of the main reason why train travel is better than flying is the ease of use. Just buy the ticket (on your phone ideally), get to the station, hop on the train and that's it. If you create obstacles by implementing check in luggage and security checks you might as well take the plane... Also are there plans to go electric on this line?
I think the costs are a bit high for that distance. 50 dollars is where my head had it when the route was announced. 80 dollars, you may consider flying the likes of Frontier or Spirit. Considering both the train and the flight charge you a bag.

I suppose that is cheaper than air fare from Miami to Orlando... but I do wonder how this price will work out in LA to Vegas. You can catch a flight to vegas for $50 - $100 round trip and it's only an hour. Brightline would have to be pretty competitive to break that deal.

125 mph is not really high speed train. I guess it's at least better than what we have now. It's so expensive for such short distance. For $79 single trip, I can fly from DFW to Miami. The interior is nice though.
No you can't, not with luggage at least. I live in Houston and I know what the fares from Texas to Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Miami cost. You might get lucky on Southwest and score an $89 fare but the base rate is $168 one way from Luv or Hobby. Now you can bust out some Spirit Air price or even United price that beats that but by the time you add baggage fees, seat fees and other fees your cost to fly Spirit from Texas to Florida is still in the $150 price point one way. I never go with a discounter because they are never able to beat the fare on SW by the time I check a bag and I ALWAYS check a bag. The cost is roughly equivalent to what a flight from Miami International to MCO cost. I've looked at those rates more than once as well since I go to Orlando frequently and have a cousin that lives in Miami. The fact is that any trip that is more than 2 hours in duration is going to cost you close to $100 one way nine times out of ten if you have luggage. Fares from Austin to Houston or Austin to Dallas are about that amount on SW and again equivalent amounts on Spirit or Frontier or others if you account for all the fees. And the train has no bag fees and the size of that cabin is so much damn better than the size of any jet I've ever been on. Hell you can even bring your bicycle on the thing if you want.

I used to live in DFW for a couple years and flew all over the country. it's not only doable, but also quite easy. Here, I just checked google flight: Frontier will take you from DFW to MIA on Saturday May 13 for $76 ROUND TRIP. That's plenty of bucks left for your bag.
@@szh4494 Frontier and Spirit no longer just charge for checked bags they also charge for checked bags. And carry on fees are actually HIGHER than checked bag fees in most cases (when you can actually get through all the layers to find the fee since they are now using dynamic pricing for bag fees) Want anything besides some random middle seat? That will cost extra too. Need a little water to stay hydrated on your flight? You will be paying for that too (airport price or airline, pick your poison). Prices on Frontier and Spirit also generally don't include taxes and gvt fees either. That will be another $10 to $20. Like I said I've looked. I've looked repeatedly. And even though I live in the Houston area I've even checked fees from Dallas and Austin to see if I could do any better. It's always end up being pretty much the same. And the base fare from Texas to Florida always ends up at around $150 (with the occasional discounted rates at about $100). Not sure when you've last flown but airfares have gone up a good bit since the pandemic.
I’m most interested in this because, if this is successful, they’re supposedly going to be doing the LA TO VEGAS route next (I live in Southern California)

Rail competes best with air travel at distances around 300 miles or less. We’re not going to see any cross-country high-speed rail

But Europe was built for the trains. Florida wasn't. They've had 85 facilities with this train since it started. Nobody is going to ride it.

Yeah. If Sunrail connected to the airport I would use The Brightline, as I live near the Maitland station. Otherwise it's $24 /day parking or $24+ each way on the Uber. 😢

Since I’ve heard about Brightline over a year ago I was slowly awaiting the news for the Orlando station to be created and now open . I’m in Miami and I’ve been to Orlando many times with family in a car . I don’t have my own transportation over there but now I will be using the trains as soon as rides are available. More opportunities for me to visit family and see the various parks

Yes, at that one will probably be the next finished...before California LA to SF and Houston to Dallas.
Once upon a time not so long ago America had private rail lines and competition. The competition kept the price in check and lead to competitors offer more pleasing g accommodations to consumers.
It is a blessing to see this as a resurgence to that type and choice offered to the people once again.

I've been taking Brightline WPB-FLL twice or more monthly since January, and it's very nice. Rarely is it late & staff both onboard the trains & at the stations are helpful & friendly. The MCO station is much nicer than the WPB & FLL stations, probably because it's in the airport. I'm very happy for them!

I really envy the integrated design of the airport, High-speed train, tram and car connections. And it would be too nice to relax in the station lounge until departure and then relax and travel in the spacious car. I would faint if there were even more Ekiben on this, but no way, right?
It was stated Palm Beach to Orlando airport is just over 2 hours.
@@RenataPereiraTV FYI, by car it is about 2 1/2 hours. They say that it takes about 3 hours from downtown Miami to Orlando Airport. By car it it around 3 1/2 hours. So not much faster. Yes, at max speeds the train can reach 209 kmh (about 125 mph), but over half the time the train goes under 110 kmh (70 mph) which is what a car can do on major highways. There are just too much congestion (sprawl) and grate crossings to run much about the 110 kmh (70 mph) speeds and given the population density in those areas, it would be impossible to go faster for any extended period.

I'm happy to see this was built after so many years of talking about it. However, people will try it out because it's something new but when they realize that flying is half the price, they'll do that instead. Especially when the train station in Orlando is at the airport lol. Like did no one on this project ever think to pull out their phone and google flights from one destination to the other. Brightline doesn't need to capture the entire market to be a success, it just needs to keep its trains relatively full. People in this thread keep talking about how driving is easier, OK, keep driving, you were never the target market.
I'm excited to get trains in Florida, however, I have a hybrid car and spend less in gas money for a round trip to Orlando in my car than the cheapest pricepoint of this train. Not to mention, the inconvenience of having to drive or Uber to the airport, paying for my train ticket, and then arriving in Orlando and having to rely on Uber or other modes of transport to get me around. My car is still the more viable and cost-effective way to get to and from Orlando to Miami. This model makes more sense to me if the train was taking me to NYC or just another state in general, that's where I think this would really shine.

Imagine having a family of 4 and having to pay that for each plus fees and bags, to me the whole idea was to make transportation very cheap and fast so people wouldn't even see it as planning a vacation but more or less taking a quick public transport spending a day in Disney and coming back to Miami even in the same day.
Plus you have to rent a car after you arrive there to drive around, so it would be more practical still to rent a big car in Miami and drive with your whole family there, it's just not as accessible.

We have a perfectly good train station that'll get people all the way up the east coast AND out west...and it's been collecting dust for half a century. We need rail to become a viable competitor to airports, because flying kinda sucks.

I wish the chairs reclined alittle but more. Very nice design and great lounge. I think the additional security and bag check is annoying as one perk when getting on at BWI to new York with Acela or Amtrak Station was the ease of transfer.

Far from European. Here in Europe high speed is considered to be around 186mph or over. And our high speed rails are electrified unlike these slow diesel brightline trains that barely make it to 100mph

The rail line should be a great thing for the area. I've been watching construction on my trips along the 528 from Orlando to Cocoa and they made great progress cutting through the trees, underbrush and swamps. And of course, there's a guard rail to keep animals from getting on the rails, because after all, raccoons, turtles and a lot of other wildlife is all around. 😁
you realize that the governor at the time rejected money from the government to build a rail system all people can use, to privately invest in this that takes you from one shopping center to another at 100.00+ a pop. Nothing about this is good for Floridians. This is for Disney tourists to catch the cruise down south. This isn't to reduce traffic traveling long distances across Florida.

It's an alternative but it doesn't add up for me. We're in Davenport and whenever we go to Fort Lauderdale or Miami to go on a cruise, we're typically 4 people. It's much cheaper and just as fast, if not faster, to drive.

@@BlackBullsGo Gas would cost around $100 round trip. Tolls maybe another $100. Parking for a week long cruise around $105. So $305. If I take Brightline, I have to drive to MCO, where parking is much more than $15 per day. Alternatively, Uber to MCO is around $55-80, depending on the time of day. But I would need that both ways. Even the cheapest round trip Brightline fares would cost $158 per person. Multiplied by 2 people, that's more than driving. Multiply it by 4, and driving is much cheaper than Brightline. Plus, you're mobile once in Miami.
I’m taking the regular train to Miami from Tampa for a long cruise. I haven’t tried any of the commuter airlines yet and I hate long drives. Parking for 12 nights would cost the same amount. Don’t cruise out of Miami often but would definitely welcome a high speed train connecting Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

I wish they would connect these train stations to popular areas within the urban core. Most of these stations are placed outside the urban core and require additional transit to get there.

Yeah right that side of the train line got shelved because Orlando got greedy. They had already mostly built the line running to Disney and then people started complaining and instead of making two lines they Fikrt back-and-forth waste of time and money and now nobody’s getting a line anytime soon to the theme parks. As a frequent Disney guess I’m beyond aggravated and I refuse to spend a penny with brightline until they fix the situation and put the Disney line back in place as they were supposed to do!

Why does Brightline have baggage limits? It eliminates one of the benefits of taking the train instead of flying.
Or is the check-in for getting onto your flight easier?
@@elijaha773There's only so much space on a train, even if there's more space than an airplane. And baggage weight limits are more because people have to load the bags than because the train can't carry more weight.
I’m not sure if the train has baggage limit. I think it’s just if you go over a certain limit then you pay more.
Space is much more of a concern than weight. The weight of extra luggage is negligible compared to the rest of the train

Well it's a bit more then I expected being that it's 30-60 on Spirit Airlines and you arrive much faster. It's possible to do a round trip on a plane for the price of one way on the train. hmmmm ya fancy train and station though!

I fly *a lot*, but after experiencing the comfort and convenience of trains in Europe and Japan, I'd pick this train service all day, every day, over any commercial air carrier in the U.S., no question. Except for very long distances, train travel is superior in nearly every passenger metric. Even for longer distances, it's superior, as long as you're ok trading comfort for speed. Very few people prefer feeling like a sardine compact in a flying pressurized metal tube.
I hear ya and concur. When you add getting thru airport lines, waiting and then having to get up in the air and down safely...train is preferred by us. Hope many more train routes are developed here in the USA

Well they've been in service since 2018 (save for 2020).
I can see this being beneficial for tourist, but for locals it’s just so much cheaper to drive yourself and the time difference doesn’t seem that much better than driving. I think for this to really work it needs to be either cheaper than driving or substantially faster than driving. Like if you can get to Miami in 90 minutes that would be a true game changer.
Well 2 things I think may influence. Overtime I see Orlando/Miami getting more congested and Orlando building/expanding the local rail connections.

More of this everywhere! We have to stop having so many cars on the road burning fossil fuels. Progress! The prices are too high but that's to be expected at first.... although I've always thought of mass transit as a service that really shouldn't matter if it makes a profit.
Is checking in your luggage required or optional? I don't really see the point of doing that for a train journey. One of the main reason why train travel is better than flying is the ease of use. Just buy the ticket (on your phone ideally), get to the station, hop on the train and that's it. If you create obstacles by implementing check in luggage and security checks you might as well take the plane...

I think the costs are a bit high for that distance. 50 dollars is where my head had it when the route was announced. 80 dollars, you may consider flying the likes of Frontier or Spirit. Considering both the train and the flight charge you a bag.

I suppose that is cheaper than air fare from Miami to Orlando... but I do wonder how this price will work out in LA to Vegas. You can catch a flight to vegas for $50 - $100 round trip and it's only an hour. Brightline would have to be pretty competitive to break that deal.

As a native to Orlando… I hate this… don’t need Miami bringing its criminals to Orlando via speed rail.
It’s a high end Amtrak. Charlotte and Raleigh NC is the same distance as Miami and Orlando with tickets for $25 for economy.

No you can't, not with luggage at least. I live in Houston and I know what the fares from Texas to Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Miami cost. You might get lucky on Southwest and score an $89 fare but the base rate is $168 one way from Luv or Hobby. Now you can bust out some Spirit Air price or even United price that beats that but by the time you add baggage fees, seat fees and other fees your cost to fly Spirit from Texas to Florida is still in the $150 price point one way. I never go with a discounter because they are never able to beat the fare on SW by the time I check a bag and I ALWAYS check a bag.
The cost is roughly equivalent to what a flight from Miami International to MCO cost. I've looked at those rates more than once as well since I go to Orlando frequently and have a cousin that lives in Miami. The fact is that any trip that is more than 2 hours in duration is going to cost you close to $100 one way nine times out of ten if you have luggage. Fares from Austin to Houston or Austin to Dallas are about that amount on SW and again equivalent amounts on Spirit or Frontier or others if you account for all the fees.
And the train has no bag fees and the size of that cabin is so much damn better than the size of any jet I've ever been on. Hell you can even bring your bicycle on the thing if you want.

It's your personal freedom to always check bags, but the majority of us don't always check bags on domestic flights.
I used to live in DFW for a couple years and flew all over the country. it's not only doable, but also quite easy.
Here, I just checked google flight: Frontier will take you from DFW to MIA on Saturday May 13 for $76 ROUND TRIP. That's plenty of bucks left for your bag.
@@szh4494 Frontier and Spirit no longer just charge for checked bags they also charge for checked bags. And carry on fees are actually HIGHER than checked bag fees in most cases (when you can actually get through all the layers to find the fee since they are now using dynamic pricing for bag fees) Want anything besides some random middle seat? That will cost extra too. Need a little water to stay hydrated on your flight? You will be paying for that too (airport price or airline, pick your poison). Prices on Frontier and Spirit also generally don't include taxes and gvt fees either. That will be another $10 to $20. Like I said I've looked. I've looked repeatedly. And even though I live in the Houston area I've even checked fees from Dallas and Austin to see if I could do any better. It's always end up being pretty much the same. And the base fare from Texas to Florida always ends up at around $150 (with the occasional discounted rates at about $100). Not sure when you've last flown but airfares have gone up a good bit since the pandemic.
Not sure if spending 80 bucks to save 30 minutes is really worth it but I'm glad the option is there.

I’m most interested in this because, if this is successful, they’re supposedly going to be doing the LA TO VEGAS route next (I live in Southern California)
That will be huge...and the speeds they can achieve on the open desert.
I hope they put that one in while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. Always wanted to go to LA.....
Next up for the Florida line will be a station near the Universal Park opening in two years and the long term plan right now is continuing service out to Tampa.
