"Coach Smokey" Assistant BB coach from Glendale Community College thru the 1990's. Booger played for Arizona Western in Yuma, AZ for 2 months early 90's. I remember the only time we played against Booger. All our players knew about Booger Smith and I didn't know who he was. We had 2 guards defensing him and during our second timeout, both players told me "I can't guard this guy" and all I could reply was "do the best you can". His passing ability and ankle breaking skills was a treat to watch. In the 20 years as a BB assistant, I've yet to see a point guard like that (except maybe Kevin Johnson of the Phoenix Suns). Thanks for the memory.

I use to watch soul in the hole all the time. It really hurts that boog never reached his potential. His downfall was that he really had no role model and guidance. Its evident that he had several opportunities but he fuqt them all up. I’d say to him that its not too late to build a successful life for yaself. U can still go get ya GED and go to college. I use to watch soul in the hole all the time. It really hurts that boog never reached his potential. His downfall was that he really had no role model and guidance. Its evident that he had several opportunities but he fuqt them all up. I’d say to him that its not too late to build a successful life for yaself. U can still go get ya GED and go to college. You can be a PE teacher or build ur own team n guide the children so they dont make the mistakes you made. U can pick up a trade or something...its not to late to do right for yaself!!!

This was a great episode one of the best. This was a sad episode I remember hearing about Booger from back in the day. Everyone and I mean everyone was talking how great a basketball player he was. It was sad that he couldn't leave the streets alone because he would have been one of the best ballers period the dudes he was around made the league and played overseas. He easily could have done either or and been great. Praying for Boog that he get better and he will get in contact with his daughter.

I watched this man play many summers with the Kenny Kings with the great Charles Jones who played with L.I.U. and his brother Tick who was amazing! Boogs had a handle and court vision that seemed otherworldy. He could navigate through rush hour traffic and no one was taking the rock from him. I remember being a kid watching soul in the hole on VHS and for years wondering what happened to him, lenny cooke was from my neighborhood and they both have similar stories, theres so much that gets put into perspective if you grew up during that time and you watch this interview now, sad in a lot of ways

I feel bad for booger. He just didn’t have that mentor ship growing up. Happens to a lot of youth growing up in the inner cities that come from broken homes. You can tell he’s a good dude but just never had direction or knew he had a purpose to strive for something. I really hope he continues to try to live a positive life and hopefully he can make some good money to help live a better life for him and those around him
