Well, shucks! You didn't have that when I ordered my chisels.... I know there are CPM plane blades. I have been using CPM V10 turning tools for years, as well as M42HSS tools. Some guy from Australia on the AAW (woodturning) forums was making gouge tips from tangung, which I use on some of my scrapers, known as 'the Big Ugly' tool. Supposedly the M42 does not hold an edge as well as the PMV10. Oh, I am used to seeing a V after the PM stuff, which is vanadium. so wondering if that applies to your tool metal. I didn't know you made draw knives.... Some day in the future... Oh, still want a corner chisel if you get to them.
The cutting edges of A-2 and D-2 crumble, even with a 30 degree bevel, so why does it keep getting hyped ? Check out DC53, if you want to make a great chisel. It not only takes a fine edge, at 61-62 RC, it remains very tough, and impact resistance like you wouldn’t believe. It was designed to supercede the above mentioned air hardening steels to eliminate that crumbly cutting edge that keeps woodworkers sharpening, not woodworking. The patant was awarded in 1986, so it’s nothing real new. Check it out.
Zenwu tool works supposedly has Magna cut chisels
Magnacut chisels give me wood. 😂❤😂
So, what do you run your MagnaCut at?
Wow! I'm really intrigued. I went over to the website and saw that everything is sold out. Time to ramp up production?
Ahhh! So excited!!
Damn. I have 2 magnacut knives. I'd love to bang on these and see how long they hold an edge.
you can use nitro v as a tool steel its the budget magnacut yes no cpm but its good
Lot of ringing in this vid just btw, thanks for sharing the good word
Come back in ten years and let me know how they're working out. At that point, I'll think about it.
