Dollar Tree is the reason I'm even here! My 7 year old daughters penmanship improved 100% when she started writing with a DT glass tip pen. My stores are in NorthWest Indiana Lake County.
I just received my first glass dip pen set yesterday and my second set is arriving today. I can't wait to use them! They both come with inks, but they are tiny bottles, though I'm sure a little goes a long way. Do you have any recommendations for good ink brands? I plan to use the pen for my drawings so I would like them to be water soluble. I'm also going to use watercolor with them😊
I love Ferris Wheel inks. Noodler's Lexington agree and Platinum Carbon Black are great waterproof inks...and work with glass dip pens and fountain pens.
I've gotten mine from artventure.com There are tons of different ones on Amazon and Ebay. I bought the cheapest 2 I could find on Amazon and I'm currently testing them out and making a video on them to see if they are decent quality!
Ugh im loving the set i bought! Got 6 for 12$, 1 arrived with the nib snapped off, one with a broke stem. I just sanded it smooth so it cant cut me, works just as good as the rest!
It's a little late, but, you should know that being left handed shouldn't stop you from using any art supply! just be careful because i've heard left handed people can have problems with ink smears, but that's the only problem you will encounter!
The rubbery tube is the cap of the pen in normal gel pen sense But since this is rubbery and is used on a glass dip pen it's probably called the protector ( yes edgy name I know)
My mom gifted me one for Christmas and I've been so afraid to use it (it's literally in its packaging, in a box, in another box and in my drawer) this really helps!
The pink flower glass dip pen was the very first glass dip pen that I brought, but mine never came with a nib cover. I bought my second one yesterday, and this one has a cap like a pen. What I'd like to know is can you use the ink that comes with a quill and ink set?
Great video, thank you! I am a fountain pen user and loved my glass pen but I gave it away to a good friend of mine who was doing anime drawings! Unfortunately, I never replaced it and I miss mine. But I am getting ready order 2. I was looking at the different storage options although a nicer pens will come securely wrapped and in a protective box. Thanks again for the wonderful tips!
It's a good thing you mentioned cost, guys yes you shouldn't ludicrously spend money or be so cheap and frugal, look at the quality and reviews before you go buy something so cheap or so ridiculously expensive.
My god glass dip pens work beautiful. I was tired of using plastic use and throw pens. Also the refillables ones, the plastic refills are nuances. Cant be recycled. Well I gave them for recycling but don't know the thereafter. So I decided to buy fountain pen and ink pot but the pen body was plastic too and ink couldn't be filled directly. It needed catridge. Only parker metallic fountain pen was available in the nearby market. Suddenly the idea of using glass dip pen came to mind. I once saw an art reel using it. I am right away placing order for glass dip pen. I know its not for regular use. I will use it for journalling.
Thank you so much for this super useful video. I was considering buying a cheap kit from Amazon until I saw your tips. I would love to begin with glass pen writing as a new hobby and your video has helped enormously. I'm off to search for a "quality" set now.
Thank you for this tutorial, super helpful. I liked the tip about doing a light wipe on the side of the bottle to remove excess ink. What ferriswheel inks do you own and which is your fav? You might have a review of these, I will have to check - I'm new to your channel and subscribed.
Aw thank you Sara! I own almost every color, except some of the new ones! One that I love is Lady Rose, it's a like a vintage rose colored pink. What are your favorite colors and then I can tell you my favorites based on what colors you like!
@@SarahStyleDesigns I’m curious about the new tumbling time blue. I wasn’t sure about the lady rose but it’s growing on me!! I did order their ink charger bookshoppe collection. Excited to try it out in my new J Herbin pen.
@@SarahStyleDesigns I don’t have a blue, and would like a nice one that’s not too light or too dark. I love the moss green they have and am interested in a yellow or gray to add to my collection. Thank you!

why does it looked so easy to you but challenging/energy-depleting to me? I've done every preparation I've read prior to using metallic watercolor but didn't work 😢
Hey not sure if you'll see this, but do you know how to tell if the nibs broke? Mine just arrived and this is my very first glass pen, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or something is wrong with the pen, but when I use it the ink barely going down with each stroke. But when I was cleaning it, the tip does feel sharp so I'm worried if it did broke 😢
I just received one as a gift. the ESSSHOP model box set. What is the eye dropper for? There are no instructions. It comes with a washer well and holder and 4 ink colors. I'm excited to use it!!!
Honestly the most possible way for it to have cracks in it, is if your package delivery guy kicks it to your door step And btw thanks for giving me tips because I am getting a glass pen soon so thanks for the videos I enjoy them very much.
What is the other little glass piece that comes with it it looks like it's for a necklace but why would your necklace come with a glass fountain pin I need to know what this little glass piece is for please
That is a good question, however, I would not recommend putting them in the dishwasher, as there is a great possibility of damage to the pen and the dishwasher soap could damage the surface of the glass. I suggest gently washing it with a mild dish detergent like Dawn, carefully rinsing it and patting it dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. 😊
@@daniellagalvez4760 Well, it depends if the crack is at the tip of the pen it is not recommended as it can ruin your paper, but if only the holder part is damaged I think it can still be used.
I just ordered a glass dip pen from Amazon for 20 dollars. It had a cap like a pen. Well, when it arrived, I carefully unscrewed the cap like you're supposed to do...and the nib was broken off! Right in a sealed package. I don't know if it was a seller issue or a manufacturer issue. My dad is not an expert, but he said that I couldn't use it. That it was useless even if he could fix it. That it would only be for display use, since I love glass dip pens. My mom let me order another glass dip pen from another seller with her money since it was replacing the one that had broke.
The dollar tree has them including the ink pot, works AMAZINGLY and just coasted $1.25
What state?
where area did you find them in TT
What that's awesome!! I'll have to be on the lookout!
YEAH I GOT THE GREEN ONE!

Yay! I absolutely love my glass pen! The inks they come with work well, but I love my Ferris Wheel Press Inks, or my Royal Talens Liquid Watercolors.

You probably meant channels instead of chambers. Chamber is a 3d volume such as a bottle interior.
What brand would you say is the best to get a good but affordable glass pen?

@@SarahStyleDesigns Ok, thanks! I’ll try them out. Thanks for the heart too!😊
Thank you so much for this! I just got my first ever glass pen and had no idea how to manage it properly. These tips and tricks help so much! 😁💜
Use a flimsy plastic quart container cup or similar for washing..the flimsy plastic will keep you or at least limit any damage..
Ugh im loving the set i bought! Got 6 for 12$, 1 arrived with the nib snapped off, one with a broke stem. I just sanded it smooth so it cant cut me, works just as good as the rest!
Can left handed people use it? I just ordered one right now and im a bit nervous because I'm left handed

If you get too much gunk, you can always dip it in lacquer thinner. It'll gobble the dry ink right up.
Soft toothbrush with a little soap and water works really good.
@@jumpingspider6659 That too, especially on glass

For cleaning, I put a dab of hand sanitizer on a tissue and wipe it so I don't risk chipping it. Just need a tissue or two.
Use a light hand too. Nearly down like with a normal pen can chip the point.

The little rubber nib protector kinda looks like a shoelace aglet

What ink are you using in this video? I have a glass dip pen and my ink seems thicker.
my glass dip pen protector is small in height than my glass dip pen nib!
I got my cheap glass pen on amazon and it was perfectly fine
Aah, Ferris Wheel Press ink, one of my very favourites! I use it both in my fountain pens and dip pens ❤

What would happen if the pen fell?
and usally how much does it cost?
The pen can break in half or show cracks, both of which render the pen useless.
And well, It depends on which store you buy the pen from.

Glob of ink? You meant drop of ink. Globs are of less viscous liquid such as glue.
