We redid the categories this year to match more classically accepted magic categories. These categories are more useful in our opinion. We used to have P3 trick of the year, Download of the year, and Penguin partner trick of the year. That split the products into Penguin products, and non-penguin products. This year we were able to include many more non-penguin products by throwing them all in a group together. The download and category was a little funky as well because almost all of these products are downloads. Some have physical products included with them but you watch the videos as downloads.
Nick and Erik gave their Top 10 favorite products of the year in January. Some of those products are less popular than what you see here. But yes, this was a popularity contest. We chose the nominees based on sales. The way that works out is the most popular tricks ended up being nominated. We then had the community vote on the main Penguin page and the products they had the most votes went away with the awards. So yes, it was a popularity contest in a sense.
So price point really has a lot to do with it as well. I wonder if HOOK would have won had it been the hundred bucks I paid for it back in the day? (Hope Erik is profiting more with that price point but what a bummer for those of us who shelled out that big dough). Smilesotheylikeyou
Very weird audio... I see eric on the right of the video but I heard him from the left only, and nick that is on the left for the screen I heard him from the right... This thing makes my brain itch
@@dickshanery7152 i don't have earbuds... i should go in the back of the monitor to listen correctly, but then I can't see it :D And I check the audio system is correct, it's just this video broken
Deserving winners - 2023 seemed to be a particularly good year for new magic. Super Sucker is great. Craig Petty works very hard on magic, and it would not be surprising if he won creator of the year for a third year in a row in 2024.
Supersucker was definitely the winner of its category. That trick is awesome on the pitch what a great way to fill time as the crowd builds! In the words of Cellini, “Stop a child stop the world” Smilesotheylikeyou
You can see all of the winners here: www.penguinmagic.com/about/penguin-magic-awards-2023
Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to all penguin team for bringing such good products!
Congrats to the winners. Great job Penguin! Cant wait to see what 2024 has in store. Thanks to Eric and Nick for the awesome hosting job!
congratulations to the winners .. My butterfly deck won, definitely a magical deck that a wiz should have. And congrats to Craig
Well done Craig - thoroughly deserved 🙂
Congrats to all the winners, runner ups and all creators in general
Craig is 2023s BEAST and 2024 isn’t gonna change!!
No download of the year? Also why is the show so short this year?

your video editor needs to look up audio normalization
The music is too loud compared to you.
Disappointed. With the exception for Craig Petty’s well deserved win, the rest were not the strongest in their categories.
Did you get a chance to vote? What were your favorites?
