Hey folks. Sorry this one took so long. It was the longest script I've done to date and life got in the way. I hope you all enjoy it. Any support to help the video perform is really appreciated :)
Thank you for all the hard work, your a rockstar man. Also thank you for keeping your Community Tab updated. I've come to really appreciate that feature. YES, I actually read them! 😂
YES! Another Thenthapple video! My wife and I watched Fallout tv series together, and I kept telling her; I'm excited for "thenthapple" to break it down.
13:21 I believe the Tri Centennial exchange of supplies was more ceremonial gesture to create harmony between the two vaults and that both vaults had plenty of supplies, furthermore the blight in 32 was manufacture deliberately either by the overseer or the direction of bud in 31 Control as part of the long term plan.
Man, Ive been a subscriber for...like 10+ years and its still always a delight when you post. Your style of content for fallout has always been *chefs kiss
i like to think the little romba body is something done by vault tec to mess with Bud, afterall they're far from above messing with their own even people in on the plan like 76s overseer.
By the by, about the Pip-Boys opening the doors, I know it's a sin to look to Fallout 4 Canon over original game Canon, but in Fallout 4, when you're outside the power armor, the Sole Survivor will have a special animation with the vault doors showing his or her Pip-Boy opens all the vaults. Given that the show takes the overall appearance from Fallout 4, with the items and ghouls and doors and whatnot, then it probably means any Pip-Boy can open the exterior doors
I don't think every Pip-Boy Dan open a Vault Door, for example the Pip-Boy of a Resident, however a Pip-Boy belonging to a Scientist (like in FO4) or a close Relative (like Rose) of an Overseer might do the Trick.
I think it came down to the level of security being implemented inside. If they believed outsiders can't utilize technology, much less a pipboy, then any pipboy could potentially open the doors. But if they decided they needed more security then they may require pipboys with certain credentials or people that have some vetting that could get them through any manual checks.
Since Rose was labeled as a "super manager," I'm guessing she had a higher security clearance than the average. Being registered as a vault 33 resident, the person in charge of the exterior for may have nievely assumed it was safe to let "Rose" in. Moldaver, knowing Rose, may have been able to more easily pretend to be her. I doubt all vault residents would have been told anytime a resident of vault 33 died. The chaos of vault 32's remains, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to get out. Regardless of they did get out, they may have disabled some of the security measures, which could have allowed Rose's pipboy to open it without issue. The last idea is that Moldaver, being a scientist, could have been smart enough to hack the door.
i like the idea of these 3 vaults. and i always thought like when i played the games in the past how not more of the vaults were connected with another in a similar way like this. radio contact how it was implied in F03 or via underground tunnels etc etc
I was watching Fallout with my brother and SIL and I think it was either ep1 or 2 where I just blurted out "This is the effing rodent utopia" and both looked at me like I was insane. It only clicked for me because I had seen multiple documentaries about the real experiment, felt very vindicated when it popped up in the later eps.
Another reason someone couldn't find a mate would be how closely related they are to the the rest of the population. If Lucy was too closely related to most of the men in her cohort she would not have been able to find a mate no matter how qualified or well-liked she was. In a (mostly) closed system consanguinity will be an issue. Zoos are in a similar position with many of their species and keep close track of their bloodlines under a set of studbooks called the "Species Survival Plan". Likely couples would be limited to replacement levels of procreation, that is an average of two children per couple, with additional children only being allowed if the population dipped below acceptable levels. There likely wouldn't need to be a reason for euthanasia as long as birth control was the default.
Let’s goo!! I knew you’d make a video on this! After I saw the show I said to myself! “Thenthapple *HAS* to make a video on the fallout vaults for the show!” Though I thought you’d use clips from the show.
Some really excellent theories there to think about. A lot of which make more sense than the TV show itself. The lore expands and continues in your deep dives, thenth style. Brilliant.
I think by the Fallout tv, you know the Vaults ultra bad news but i finally hope they do a "Enclave wanted data so they can launch themselves off world" theory.
Excellent work, as always. I really don’t envy the makers of the tv show. They have to know that the game’s fanbase are just ready and waiting to pick apart every frame to look for lore.
I think the trade was more to diversify the gene pool. The only make Lucy seemed interested in in her vault was her cousin and the relationship was to close.
Another excellent lore video, seriously deep and well thought out. Thinking about the fusion core in vault 4, they were really running a significant portion of the vault (or all of it?) on a single fusion core? It seems to be canon that they're basically high end batteries, and given that you can recharge them in 76, reusable (though I don't think that was in any of the previous games). But it's also canon in FO4 that they have a seriously short life in power armor. We've also not seen any other situation where a vault was powered by a fusion core (I don't think?). So I'm a little confused as they vault 4 core didn't seem to make sense. I get it, plot device perhaps, but they generally were pretty lore friendly in the series it seemed, so just something to consider....
or fusion cores we found in 4 where so low on charge that fusion core reactor eject them to tell they need to be recharge like if you smoke detector that runs on battery if it gets low it will go off to tell you and 76 had the recharger in hand so we can charge them and some vaults had this tec in them and rest didn't just like the G.E.C.K. tec
You know, I've watched quite a few reviews and critiques of the Fallout show, and not one of them mentioned the ammo situation. I myself never even gave it a second thought. Kudos!
As someone that's not seen the show, but played ost if the games.... 31 had robots stored, used them to clean up the mess in 32. 32 were gassed, set on each other when they laid siege to 31. Once those left came to their senses, they were the ones that took care of themselves. Classic vault guilt. (The same thing happened with the vault that sacrificed their overseer's. The few survivors self deleted when they found out they could have refused and would not have been murdered by the vault) If 31 was full of a very select bunch of deep frozen vault-tec meat popsicles, they are guaranteed to have robots. Folks like that, especially rich pre war ones, just don't do that kind of work themselves
As to the cleanup of vault 32. Occams razor suggests a stockpile of Mr. Handy's from vault 31 performed the cleanup. Once complete, Barbara was informed and the repopulation was put into effect.
I think given that we see the Shady Sands Vault taking in outsiders AND the fact that Maximus was given all that Pre-War Food (side note: HOW LONG DO YUM YUM DEVILED EGGS LAST FOR THAT THEY ARE JUST OUT LIKE THAT UNREFRIDGERATED?!), I think the Vaults have a lot bigger food bunkerage than we previously thought.
14:04 It would not surprise me in the least if Vault 31 is also absolutely stuffed with supplies that get sent over to the other two Vaults along with the next Vault-Tec approved Overseer. It's also entirely possible that these supplies are portioned out during the triennial trades, with only the Vault 31ers knowing that the inter-vault trades are being topped off with a bonus.
Imo what fixes nearly all the inconsistency and plot issues in the TV show is if you consider that it actually takes place between Fallout and Fallout 2, which solves a few issues: 1) because Necropolis was just wiped out alongside the Master's death, this explains the near complete absence of both types of mutants and the rarity of mutated creatures like the Yao Guai, Gulper etc. The radiation is still wreaking havoc on their DNA and leaving many bloodlines infertile. It also removes the issue that Uncle Phil is well over 220 years old and explains why there are so many heavily mutated residents in Vault 4. The ghoul serum is actually a concentrated form of radaway that keeps feralization at bay by regulating the driving force behind it (excessive exposure), which is why Ghoul needed to shoot up every couple of days on the surface, but was fine when buried in a coffin for years. Shady Sands is currently the NCR capital during its infancy, and as a result many unproductive and/or uncooperative residents were displaced by force, which nicely explains the shady sands refugees in Vault 4 and other areas. The BoS hasnt yet crumbled, which explains their powerhouse base, and are in full hoard mode, causing the scarcities of items like power cores and energy weapons. Because these are the direct descandants of the Mariposa BoS, this also explains their very rigid structure and religious borderline fanaticism, as they havent yet split or fought the NCR. Hell, this even explains Vegas. So many bombs carpeted the areas AROUND vegas that it was uninhabitable for over a century, and it took another 50 years for tribals and raiders to even begin to settle the surrounding areas. Vegas isnt actually destroyed or a crater ; its a myth because its still so heavily irradiated nobody can make it in and out before dying or going feral. Since the story is told from Lucy's perspective, ans she was raised in a heavily revisionist education system, we can even chalk the triad of vaults up to all the original parents being offed and the first generation being raised entirely off the Vault 31 propaganda to make them desirable followers, i mean we've seen this done before in another Vault, and the pink paste proves how indoctrinated children were outside of vault-tec, so its entirely feasible that Vault 31 created an entire generation of orphans to raise into ideal worker bees and then misled them on the time spent in the vaults, something not easily corrected by surface dwellers met by Lucy as how many would actually know the exact date, let alone a good historical record? The secret of Vault 32 could even be this fact, and going further as to be that 32 was a vault of the parents, while 33 was the indoctrinated orphans, and this is the secret they were killed to protect. Thats my headcanon. Lucy is just a 2 or 3 INT idiot savant who only thinks its been 220 years but really we are just in between the first 2 games.
House might've survived The Courier but from the looks of things The Courier probably disconnected him from the outside world and let the Cloud loose on Vegas. Probably lainched nukes at both the NCR and the Legion as well. "Everyone loses" was always the only outcome that made any sense for that game.
Just had an idea for a Vault trio Two vaults which each are able to submit requests at a terminal, but only one request at a time. Once both vaults have submitted a request, the third vault, able to watch everything going on in both vaults from various cameras and microphones, the third vault must decide whether to answer Vault A's request, or Vault B's request, whatever they choose, the other gets ignored. This allows Vault C to effectively play god with 2 vaults. If both are asking for things they need to survive (because they eventually will, it's Vault Tec) one of them will have to go without If one of the two vaults dies off for whatever reason, the other can no longer submit requests, as it's blocked up by the other vault's inability to make a request too, and Vault C has no choice but to watch as the surviving vault slowly dies off, their benefactor suddenly going silent without explanation, and no longer helping them.
Could the ammo and food be supplemented with/by manufacturing it.. off camera? (Contraptions Workshop) I think the writers were trying to include things from the Workshop DLCs, as they were given permission to do pretty much whatever they wanted, as long as they didn't specifically state "This is the canon ending to FO4". The cycling-bikes were a reference to Vault-tec Workshop. I don't believe it specifically stated the ones in "33" were designed to supplement the vault's power? I think it was just an Easter Egg. Given the ones in v88 were part of a one-off experiment. It's possible, at the very least, the cycles themselves could have already existed, but Vault-tec repurposed them for the Vault 88 Experiments.
As for who cleaned 32, I think Betty got the Raider prisoners to do it. Tell them that cleaning the mess will grant them their freedom from prison and chance to leave. But then right after she poisons their food. Killing them all. Betty started the repopulation of 32 immediately after finding all the raiders dead. So she can proceed without any loose ends.
I think the clean up of vault 32 was done by robots, my guess the robots are stored in vault 31 together with the extra supplies. I can see some mr handy and protectrons be stored there.
The power bicycles are a direct reference to the vault-tec DLC for FO4, though it's unclear if they had any experiment tied to them like in the game. Vault 32 _definitely_ resorted to cannibalism, the rat video is too on the nose. The fact that it was running also implies it was something they were shown while still alive, perhaps part of the conditioning for them to turn on each other around when they found out the truth. This might sound a little silly, but I feel like Bud didn't get a robobrain because he was an annoying junior executive. Vault-tec was seemingly taking any suggestions, so him proposing the idea and volunteering to staff it made the decision easy. It seems very on brand from them to go through all the effort to build this set of vaults just to cheap out on his equipment. ...now that I type that out, I wonder if Vault 31 was as much of a control vault as Bud intended...
I know everyone's thinking the nukes flying was vault tecs doing but don't forget captain zao from fallout 4 of the yangtze flat out admits that hes responsible for the destruction of boston admiting that he fired his nukes so i think it was china but they might retcon that in the series hope not though . What is evident however is vault tec had a heavy hand in creating the conditions for the great war to occur so i think they had a very heavy involvement in the events of 2077 but not directly responsible
Hello nice video so far at 12:11 you mentioned that Lucy was generating electricity by riding bikes. That was the case Lucy and her dad we're just exercising wow watching TV because of smaller recreational spaces and just sitting down was to lethargic. They wanted to keep up their activity and their muscle strength.
Apex Predator, Time. I think someone took Riddles in the Dark to heart. . . Superb video mate. I wasn't expecting one of the TV show. I guess it's all cannon, but the lore friendliness of the series, to me is just barely riding what is acceptable deviance I just hope it isn't the desperate grasp for wider audience that kills another beloved franchise. Do you have many thoughts on the Vault 4?
I've always been curious how Maldaver knew when/what the communion was. Like how did she know when to show up for the exchange? Also vault 32 was destroyed during the revolt 2yrs prior to the show taking place, how long was Steph and her "husband" together cause shes late into her pregnancy, but is the show implying that the exchange didnt happen for 2yrs, or actually longer depending on how long the revolt lasted? I feel like I need to watch the show again.
People traded into 31 didn't need resources, there was no need for them there so one might assume they were eliminated? What would be the point of stockpiling resources for keeping them alive? What would they do? Not worth freezing them, they're just peons not management!
Hey folks. Sorry this one took so long. It was the longest script I've done to date and life got in the way. I hope you all enjoy it. Any support to help the video perform is really appreciated :)
Perfect timing, I just finished the show finally
Ya professor apple is back!

@@crickett3536 so, who's collecting data on Bud? I wholeheartedly support this headcanon
@@alexfraze12087 there's got to be some VaultTec people or their descendants living somewhere, right? Gotta have a final boss!

Just had an idea for a Vault trio

Once both vaults have submitted a request, the third vault, able to watch everything going on in both vaults from various cameras and microphones, the third vault must decide whether to answer Vault A's request, or Vault B's request, whatever they choose, the other gets ignored.

Could the ammo and food be supplemented with/by manufacturing it.. off camera? (Contraptions Workshop)
I think the writers were trying to include things from the Workshop DLCs, as they were given permission to do pretty much whatever they wanted, as long as they didn't specifically state "This is the canon ending to FO4".

The power bicycles are a direct reference to the vault-tec DLC for FO4, though it's unclear if they had any experiment tied to them like in the game.

It seems very on brand from them to go through all the effort to build this set of vaults just to cheap out on his equipment. ...now that I type that out, I wonder if Vault 31 was as much of a control vault as Bud intended...
I hoping season 2, they do a series of flash backs showing us what happened.
I'd be surprised if Lucy travels back to her vault in or after season 2. If she did they would kick her out because of rads, or fear like vault 13.
I missed ya dude. Always check for your vids.
Definitely want more on the show! Maybe where you think season 2 is going, after reviewing hints/foreshadowing in these lore videos?
I know everyone's thinking the nukes flying was vault tecs doing but don't forget captain zao from fallout 4 of the yangtze flat out admits that hes responsible for the destruction of boston admiting that he fired his nukes so i think it was china but they might retcon that in the series hope not though . What is evident however is vault tec had a heavy hand in creating the conditions for the great war to occur so i think they had a very heavy involvement in the events of 2077 but not directly responsible
I'm just happy to see another glorious video from this s teir youtuber
The man the Myth the legend he's back
love my lore apple
THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF THE MONTH
Hello nice video so far at 12:11 you mentioned that Lucy was generating electricity by riding bikes. That was the case Lucy and her dad we're just exercising wow watching TV because of smaller recreational spaces and just sitting down was to lethargic. They wanted to keep up their activity and their muscle strength.
Great video !❤🎉
Welcome back.
The bikes were a call back to fallout 4. Vault 88.
Ah ok so I wasn't imagining things, there was some other vault with it
@@thenthapple yeah it was a goofy DLC quest that had them.
Thank you for this!
We know from fallout 2 the enclave had access to the vault tec systems and could open a vault by their own means
Great video, thank you.
You're very welcome
Always love seeing a new vid :), thank you for all your hard work:). Edited because i cant spell
Great Video!
I've been hoping and praying you were going to do a video on the show!!!! YAY!!!! My day is complete!
Ayyyyyy new video
Do you do a podcast or audiobooks? I have listened to your videos for a while to help me sleep, your voice is calming
Nice video
Awesome stuff!
if all the mods were not broken I could see these vaults as mods
Keep it up bro
Lesssss gooooo some fresh apple on a Sunday :)
I wonder if all 3 vaults have exterior entrances, and if so, where the other 2 are.
Yay your back 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've always been curious how Maldaver knew when/what the communion was.
Either they were given information on it, or she was somehow monitoring them. Maybe the old overseers terminal?
JUST saw it, you have Elden RIng stuff, SWEET!
People traded into 31 didn't need resources, there was no need for them there so one might assume they were eliminated? What would be the point of stockpiling resources for keeping them alive? What would they do? Not worth freezing them, they're just peons not management!
Someone needs to make a mod that involves all three of these vaults for fallout 4 and make it available for Playstation players
Engagement for the almighty algorithm!
