Glamour Health Update #1

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 16 ก.ค. 2024
- This is an update on Glamour’s health. In my last video, I had just returned home from a business trip and Todd told me Glamour’s back was bothering her. I took her to the vet and overall she is in good health for her age. They did find a small heart murmur, which is not uncommon in a cat her age. She also got a set of x-rays and we found she does have some inflammation in her back. She was given a mild steroid for the inflammation and some gabapentin for the pain which seems to be working she looks much more comfortable now. I will continue to monitor and take her back if needed or Dr. Todd tells
Todd is a 7-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 53 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

It's amazing how Todd is on top of Glamour's health and made sure that Dad knew about her back. Thanks to Dad, Todd and Vet for helping her. And thanks to Dad for the update!
You are welcome
I watch every post you do on your amazing kitties, and praise for Todd the Wonderboy in alerting you to Glamour's "ouch" back.
And they say that cats have no empathy! Todd IS a hero! ❤❤
I only recently found Todd, thanks to Billi. I find it absolutely amazing that Todd can not only tell you how he is feeling, but he alerted you to Glamour's trouble too. That's incredible. He even knew what part was hurting her. Wow.
He it amazing
I'd say she probably told Todd how she was feeling. ..in cat talk. This all is leading me to talk to my new cat a lot. I'm trying to really communicate by teaching him words, like sit, paw, nose, ear, tail, hand, no, yes and so on. He listens...sometimes. He's so young and catty. We're entering a new time and this part (with the animals ) I love!
I too found this channel through Billi and I am now subscribing!
@@theresajg11awesome, thank you. I'm glad you are here!
Glamour, Back, Happy, Now. Todd = Hero.
It's getting there
Exactly what I was going to say. happier back, anyway. lol
@@wellenstrom 💯👍
So happy that Glamour got the medical attention she needed, thanks to Todd and to dad for taking Todd seriously. Poor Glamour, she may have suffered for days if Todd had not alerted you.
Agreed, Todd is the best!
Yeah, especially since cats, I’ve found, tend to hide away when they’re hurt or sick. (Babies… let mommy make it better!)
Todd you are just amazing, and so precious❤Glad Glamour is going to be ok.Well done everybody ❤
I know Jackson Galaxy has been very skeptical about the buttons in the past. I wish he would re-evaluate, because Todd has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he knows what the buttons mean and can convey legitimate thoughts, feelings, and concerns with them. He has also proven that cats aren't solely self-motivated creatures and are fully capable of empathy for others. I mean, of course we cat people know all of this, but Todd makes it pretty dang hard for the skeptics to keep denying.
Thank you and I couldn't agree with you more
Absolutely. Todd was able to tell that Glamour had a backache and that she was unhappy. Whether he could tell her emotional and physical states, and figured out that the back pain caused her unhappiness, or whether he noticed her movements and reasoned that this meant she was in pain and further reasoned that she must therefore be unhappy, or whether he saw her movements and behavior and reasoned that she must be both in pain and unhappy is unclear. What it does suggest is a certain amount of empathy and ability to infer the physical perceptions (and perhaps also the emotional state) of another cat. This is a big freaking deal, from a scientific perspective. To then inform Dad suggests Todd further reasoned that if he told Dad, Dad could do something to help (like when Todd had mouth pain) and if the pain was addressed, Glamour might be happy. Another big freaking deal.
@@originalismisacrock166 Very well said.
While Jackson Galaxy's methods seem to help people, and keeping new arrivals separate is a longstanding practice in my life, I'm not as convinced about his theories of cat behavior. The fact he feels the need to be skeptical of the button communication seems perhaps based in self-interest to remain in authority. Imo, people who ascribe selfishness or other negative human judgments to cats (or dogs] are often displaying their own limitations. I actually haven't seen a lot of his videos so I'm speaking purely on impressions.
@@victoriabaker4400 He doesn't ascribe selfishness per se. Actually, his aversion to projecting human characteristics onto animals plays a role in why he's not convinced about the button communication. He has said he feels like people are too prone to interpret the communication through a human bias. But at some point, one has to look at all of the evidence and the case it presents for the effectiveness of this method. I do agree with you that he might feel like it undermines the niche he's carved out for himself as an authority on cat behavior. Overall, I too appreciate a lot of what he says, but he's definitely not the end-all-be-all authority when it comes down to it. The issue is that so many people do see him as the go-to guy when it comes to cats and might be discouraged from even trying the buttons because, due to his personal feelings about them, he has kind of dismissed them as not being a valuable resource or tool. I feel like if he's going to speak from an expert position, he needs to fully understand what he's talking about before influencing other people's perceptions.
Thank you Todd! Not only letting Dad know that Glamour hurt, but answering the question of how much do cats tell each other. Even if it was "body language", that is still language! ❤ Back Happy soon, Glamour!
Agreed!
It's incredible how Todd knew something was bothering Glamour and told Dad about it. ❤
This must be the most mindblowing thing Todd has done (so far).
I’m convinced that cats speak telepathically to each other. My husband used to say they whisper to each other.
@@MistyGray41Maybe they use sound frequencies we can’t hear.
Dr. Todd’s diagnosis was spot on.

The biggest thank you to Todd for helping his sister by asking for help from his Dad thru his buttons
Agreed!
Dear Todds Dad, THIS IS BEYOND AMAZING! That Todd correctly spotted fellow cats health problem and reported it to you! If this does not prove the intelligence and existence of soul in animals then I dont know what does. What you and Todd are doing is so important for changing perspective on animals. And Todd is such a kind soul! He cares for Glamour, he did not like Paulie in the past but then understood he has to be kind to Paulie too. Todd is an example to many humans on this planet.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you are here!
If anybody doesn't think that animals care for one another then you never cared for any in your household!!❤❤

Wow that is one smart cat. Probably saved Glamour from another week or more of pain before anyone realized.

@@Kat-kv8mm That's IT! Todd is the Doctor! 🤣
This is more proof of cats being amazing! The purr heals. Todd is EPIC in my book so is his daddy for making this possible.
Thank you 😊
Good to have the update! Thanks to dr. Todd, glamour back happier. Got to tell Todd Glamour back Happy soon! Might ouch again later.
That’s so amazing. As a cat human most of my life I’ve learned that cats are interesting in that they are both predator and prey. As prey it is crucial that they not let on when they are hurt or sick. It is natural for them to hide it from their humans. Glamour probably doesn’t hide it from Todd.
Happy story all around. ❤
Very happy story. Glamour is spicy and normal Glamour and uncomfortable Glamour may be hard to tell a part so I am very grateful to Todd.
I am really impressed that one cat is actually able to inform you of the health of another cat. Like wow. Communication with a sentient cat. Love this, and am grateful you share. Thank you.
You are very welcome. Todd amazes me daily
Wow Todd was right, incredible. Imagine telling the vet my other cat told the cat needs a vet check. Todd you are amazing and so caring.
Thank you 😊
Good news for glamour. Todd may have to get his medical degree. He is a hero. He loves Glamour and knows Dad could help. This is pretty amazing.
Thanks for the update.
Thank you 😊
Good boy Todd letting Dad know Glamour was needing help for pain. Such a smart boy and he loves his siblings as well as his Dad. Thank you for letting us know Glamour's diagnosis Dad. 💓
You are very welcome
Does Glamour realize what a friend she has in Todd? que the song... "You never had a friend like ME!" Amazing what Todd can do. I love Todd. Todd "want Glamour's back happy". Todd is TOP CAT.
Unfortunately if Glamour got her wish Todd, Paulie, and Mom would go away and it would be just her and her favorite possession/servant...Dad. Lol Despite this, Todd loves her so much and wants her to be happy. He asks for toys and pets for her.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks My favorite lime. "Dogs Have Owners. Cats Have Staff!".
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks LOL Todd is a "giver". Apparently, Glamour is not.
@@dylannaenzo9737 She is not. We are here property and live to serve. She will tell you we do not do a very good job of it at that. Lol
In Glamours defence she is a beneficent queen… mmmm usually! 😂
Wow, so glad you took Glamour in right away and she is on the road to recovery. Good job, Todd, for alerting Dad!
I couldn't agree more. Todd continues to blow my mind.
Todd is the best! 🎉
Thanks for the update on Glamour - Glad that her sore back is not anything super serious and that the medications are helping her feel better -❤- I am just so amazed that Todd would tell you that Glamour's back hurt, it is amazing enough that a cat would talk to you with buttons and possibly communicate to you when his own back hurt, but to tell you that his cat-mate had a physical problem, well, my mind is blown! - it totally refudiates the stereotype of cats being totally selfish and self-absorbed and unempathetic to other cats! - 😲
Well said and I agree
Cats totally are empathetic! I have a long-haired girl cat, Bast, and sometimes I have to clip poop out of her butt-fluff. (Sigh, cat parent tasks) Like most cats, I assume, she doesn’t like it cause that’s a sensitive area even though I’m real careful. And she cries and fusses and hisses to show her displeasure. And her adoptive brother, Momo (Momotaro) will run up to me crying at me to stop making his sister upset. It’s precious.
Todd is so helpful to his dear Glamour. Thank you, Todd! ❤❤❤❤
Yes, a huge thank you to Todd. Because of Glamour's (clears throat) "Spicy" personality it is hard to tell normal Glamour from uncomfortable Glamour and it might have been a day or two before I noticed,
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Sometimes 'spicy' kitties are the best. :)
@@tgardenchicken1780 Yes they are and I love her dearly
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks 🤗 Glamour is thanking you and showing you she's feeling better! (re-marking you to re-confirm her claim too, I imagine) 😻 Thank you for providing such a fast update.
I'm so happy Glamour is feeling better. Thank you Dad and thank you Todd for taking good care of Glamour! ❤️
Our pleasure!
So amazing that Todd was able to tell you that Glamour's back hurt.
It is and I a grateful for this little man
So Todd understands that Glamour cannot communicate using the buttons & that sometimes help is needed.
Poor old lady… Glamour’s vet sounds like my doc, the aches and pains of a sore back from old age. Glad she got some meds and is feeling better. I bet the vet is so proud of his colleague, Dr. Todd, for spotting this condition and directing Dad to get her treatment!
These buttons open our eyes to the intelligence and empathy cats operate in and the interspecies trust Todd can shoe us. Totally amazing! Thanks Dad, for all your work with the kitties😍
Thank you for the kind words and you are most welcome!
You're a good brother, Todd. ❤
He really is.
Makes you wonder how Todd knew, or maybe he seen when she jumped wrong. What a good brother ❤❤
He is a great and caring friend
Glad Todd was able to tell you Glamour needed help. Very good kitties!
I think so too!
This is the cutest thing ever. I love Todd worrying about his sister. It is so cute.
Thank you 😊
Get well soon Glamour! Well done all, good housemates and friends 💜👍😊
Thank you
I’m glad it’s arthritis and not something new. I said yesterday that was a video to show stubborn people who disbelieve button communication. Today’s proves it.
I wonder how long Todd was worried before he could tell you about it? 😢
I don't know, I was gone for 7 days. I don't know when it started bothering her. My wife didn't notice but Glamour is always spicy and grouchy so it's hard to tell normal Glamour from uncomfortable Glamour.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Yeah, that’s why I pondered it. The speed at which he asked you when you got home made me wonder whether it was a new situation & that’s why he was so concerned or if he’d been worrying for a while. Either way, it looks like Little Miss Spicy is doing a bit better. So glad. 💜
Like I have said before, Todd is a amazing Cat. Thank you Dad for making the word box. Todd knew that there was something wrong with Glamour. 💙🐈⬛
Todd did know, he is a good boy.
What a Caring Kitty Todd is. No way is he hi s anything but a smart kitty who uses his sound board to help others

Todd is the hero of the hour!
I'm glad this is more minor and easily treated.
Me too, she is resting comfortably now
I still think Todd is a human soul wrapped in the fluffiest, cutest, short-pants tuxedo ever. Amazing is an understatement! So happy he is only 6 and hopefully you don't get tired of doing all this work to show us all the incredible things Todd does. Happy Glamour's back is getting better.
I will keep working with Todd as long as he wants.

Todd you are the bestest brother telling dad that Glamour was hurting!❤❤❤
We agree!
But is glamor's back happy? 😂 😻😻
With the drugs she got I would say yes 😂
Todd is a wonderful brother to Glamour! God bless Todd, Glamour, Paulie, Dad, Mom, Grandson, and all your family 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you 😊
Todd is just amazing, wow....
Thank you
It’s amazing that Todd could tell you and how he even knew, some cat language were unaware of where they can communicate and then Todd can use the buttons to translate. However he knew it’s great he could tell you as soon as you got home.
Do you think you might try Glamour with the buttons? I’ve seen some multi pet homes where they used a second set of buttons but also one where several pets shared them. Blows my mind as we said in the 70’s 🤯🙋🏼♀️🥰
It could have been something as simple as he saw her limping and knew she was in pain. I have tried and continue to offer the buttons to Glamour and Paulie including their own boards, so far they want nothing to do with them. Although Glamour has been "Accidently" stepping on some buttons lately and what's odd is they always seem to be in context for what is going on at the time and usually also kind of an insult directed at me. Lol
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks lmao yeah that sounds like her

Bravo Todd now Glamour is on her way to feeling much better and for helping Dad by letting him know you are an amazing little dude
Thanks so much
Thanks for the update, and that Glamour is on medicine to help her feel better.
You are so welcome
Did Glamour tell Todd that her back hurt? So he could tell you? This is amazing!
I don't know how he knew. He loves Glamour and watches her all the time. He may have noticed or there may be some cat communication there as well. Either way he was right.
That is why this is a big deal. If Glamour did not press "back ouch" or "ouch back" (and we have never seen her use buttons), then Todd had to infer the physical experience and emotional state of another based on his own observations and experience of pain. In other words, some form of what we consider "empathy" - the ability to take the perspective of another. Then Todd takes the next step and reports this to Dad, telling Dad he "wants happy." (Which seems to be a request for help from the person who has helped him in the past when he reported pain in his mouth.) The combination is really rather staggering. Especially since the button combination has proven accurate as to Glamour's back problem (verified by the vet).
@@originalismisacrock166 exactly! This puts a whole new face on how animals communicate with each other and with us!

So true
Hurray for Todd. Glamour is a good kitty ❤
Thank you
Glad to hear Glamour is doing ok, and thanks to Todd for "speaking" up! My last cat, my sweet Abby, had arthritis in her spine for years, before she was even 10 years old. It took a while for me and her vet to figure that out though. I noticed Abby wasn't jumping onto stuff like she used to, and the vet thought it was just a sore leg or something like that. It wasn't until Abby got a full body xray at the emergency vet for another issue that the arthritis in her spine was revealed.
Glamour is no longer jumping like she used to, I am installing ledges, steps etc so she can get to where she like to go easily now.
Glad Glamor is alright and mostly it's age related. Toddis a good housemate.
