Wonderful Stephen. Some really great ideas. Obviously you've had a few disasters. We bought a beautiful Modcon Camper Van and I haven't stopped pulling it apart, modifying it, based on some terrible experiences mates of mine have suffered. We went around Oz some time back, trouble free but I am still learning. I might add that my wife keeps saying, "How is it that everyone else buys one of these and just goes camping??" You know the answer to that question.
Hi John , thanks for your comments. Yes some travellers will buy a van and push their van to the limits with no preparation or have any idea of potential problems and wonder why things go pear shape just because They think they have a new van . Continuous maintenance, prevention and preparation and knowing your van’s limits is the key to disaster free travelling. Cheers mate.
Hubby's favourite was the mug holders inside the cupboard doors. I was quite taken with the wine rack! Great idea to have the pump the same as the main van one as a spare.
Hi Carla, thanks for your encouraging comments . I am glad these ideas has given you something to have a go at . All very easy to do and maybe improve . Cheers!!!
Hi Flutester. , Thanks for your comments. Hopefully you can improve on my ideas. Glad you are are inspired to give the pump a go. My wood working skills are very limited using basic tools. Cheers !!
G day Andrew. This Pump was a little project I made up myself. It serves a dual purpose as a spare pump for may van should the need arise if the van pump breaks down and for refiling the van tanks when required when not on water hook up. I purchased the Sureflow pump off the net as it was cheaper than Jayco. Can not remember the site, as there are many to choose from. Just ensure you order the correct model number and flow rate , all the pump specifications and information is on a label on your existing pump in your van. I would definitely stick with the same make and model pump so if needed it will be an easy swap over, you do not want to be trying to make modifications to make it fit when you are on the road. I installed the pump in a 5 Litre plastic Jerry can, which can easily be removed from the can. Alternatively you can install it in a small plastic or wooden container or just on a piece of square timber . Anderson plug, wire cable and switch can be purchased from Jaycar or any auto accessory store. If you are handy it it is a very simple project. Hopefully this will give you some insight. Good luck with this project. Cheers Mate.!!!! PS, I wont be going into production making these. LOL !!!
Definitely better fuel in hilly terrain. The worst in the patrol was 27litres per hundred kilometres that was a 1200 meter climb and very hard on the poor truck. On normal towing around 23 to 25 sitting on anything from down to 40klm to 90klm per hour. With the cruiser the worst is 24litres. Normal towing around 19 to 22. However you can sit on 100 klm per hour not a problem!!. Cruiser is one of the last off the line April 2021 build and payed through the nose. But I love it.
HI Stephen, we have some similar upgrades to our Silverline, the coffee cup holders in the robe doors work well and to help you to avoid the water dropping on the floor when shower door is open. If you imagine a U-shaped aluminum section with one side longer, you can cut and bend at the hinge and attach it to the inside bottom rail of the door with a fall towards the hinge. Jobs done, I think I bought it from Bradnams windows but others will have it, also my coffee cup holders are plastic marine ones and fold up similar to yours. Cheers
Hi Robert. I keep it very simple . I only use two cameras . DJII Osmo Mini 2 and DJI Action 2. Plus my DJI Mini Drone.. I only shoot in 1080 at 30fps leave settings on auto and do all my adjustments post in editing. I am no genius when it comes to photography. I just shoot plenty of footage to give myself plenty to edit and keep equipment simple. Thanks for your interest . Cheers.!!
hey stephen just purchased our first van just found your channel, love your mods just subbed, just wondering what diesel heater did you go? i want to install one just nervous because i have 2 kids just because of safety, how is your holding up thank you
Hi mate . Have been using a cheap 5kw Chinese diesel heater purchased on eBay. Has served us well for the past 2 years. I would not be with out it . We are currently giving it a hammering over the last month travelling through Vic and SA and has been down to Zero outside. Not sure what the current supply is right now with the whole Chinese thing at the moment. The other alternative is one of the two original German brands if you are happy to pay over thousand dollars for supply and installation . A personal choice. Hope this helps . Cheers mate.
@@steve.rhonda_azzopardi thanks stephen for your reply i think i will go with a chinese unit they do seem like they work well, where did you purchased your carbon detector and has that lasted long as well? thank you
Hi I think I purchased it from Camec. Also try Bunnings, Jaycar. Most caravan accessories should have them. Also online. Has lasted well. Change battery every 12 months.
Hi Matty . If you are refering to the blind on the entry door, I purchased it from Spotlight at around $18 , Hope this helps, happy to answer more if needed, Cheers!
Van Came with the Curtains and blinds, Removed curtains because they were useless. The Blinds are part of the window assembly that is standard with Jayco and most current vans. Hope this clears things up, Cheers.
great tips and mods Steve. Particularly liked your portable water pump, very handy. I enjoyed the video mate. Keep em coming.
Thanks Lyn. I have many more travel videos to come. Glad you are enjoying our channel. Cheers!!
