X4 and MM3. however, X5 is definitely a close second. i think both X4 and X5 were the best of the X series- excellent music/sound, innovative stage elements and design, creative and generally unique mavericks, visionary storylines, finely calibrated game mechanics and control. i could elaborate further but i think you get the point ;) concerning the original series, it's a bit difficult to pick favorites there, but i would rank my top three- MM3, MM4, MM2, in that order infact.
Traveling a short Course with no Enemies or Power ups just Spikes to the Mandatory Boss Rush, and this one is like the Biggest of all, I like this one the Best. Then when you're Finished, a Teleporting Hatch to the Top Platform will appear to take you to the Next Stage.
This game's level design was garbage and I didn't like it because of that, and although the Maverick roster was crap, I still found it likable. My favorite Mavericks in this game were Commander Yammark, Blizzard Wolfang, Rainy Turtloid, and Shield Sheldon. (:
