Election Commission Publishes Voter Turnout For Phase 1 & 2, Opposition Questions Revision Of Data

The Election Commission Of India(ECI) has published revised voter turnout after phase one and two regarding which the opposition has questioned the revision of data. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has tweeted on this where he said, " We have complained repeatedly to the EC on such blatant and brazen violations of not just the Model of Conduct but also of RPA, 1951, and of various Supreme Court verdicts. We await action"

The Election Commission of India, once (During TN SHESHAN) revered as the guardian of democratic principles, now stands accused of being complicit in the erosion of electoral integrity. Its credibility lies in tatters, stained by a litany of irregularities and partisan behaviour. From conveniently timed voter roll purges to inexplicable glitches in electronic voting machines, the EC's track record reeks of incompetence at best and malfeasance at worst.

Main reasons for upward revision being 1. Re-polling in certain polling stations (in most repolled polling stations, voting percentage higher), 2. Official scrutiny of Presiding Officers' reports, 3. Postal Ballots/EDCs etc.
