My school is going through a complete coaching change, and my new defensive line coach told me to find drills that we would actually enjoy doing and some drills that we think that the whole d line itself needs to work on. There isn't one drill on this video that doesn't fit both of those categories. Thank you for posting this. I'm showing this to my coach tomorrow.
you got this off UCLA...I picked up a few cool things from them this spring, but Ohio State still has the best d-line drills and clinic I've been to...I mostly do their stuff
go for the oppenent that looks weaker, stay low and attack his hip. get under his arms, push his hip with one arm while knifining thru the gap with the other arm. if this doesnt work, train ur speed off the snap.
@Krisztián Varga As a Nose Tackle ur job is to move only when the Ball moves. So They use the Ball drill to make them better at moving only when that Football moves.
Actually we use the same slant etchnique and stuff, I really like the footwork on the small 2-man.....I should make them do that that way. Didn't like how UCLA's Dline turns their shoulders at the LOS though.
Just cause someone is from a community college doesn't make them bad athletes... A lot of players from Community colleges go on to bigger schools. Maybe it was because they weren't ever heard of out of high school or maybe because bigger schools are more expensive.
the d-line doesnt have an advantage. the o-line has the advantage of knowing where they are going. the o-line cant block anyone if it is being pushed backwards. the d-line wants to establish a new LOS 2 yds in the backfield.
@deseanjackson1010 I don't know what you are trying to say? Size doesn't mean shit to me....I played DI high school football in Cali as a 145 lb nose guard and made all league
@fancam72 you are way to young to be lifting weights let your body grow you start that early you goin be a little midget freshman year is the most appropriate year to start and don't say your just a d tackle coaches hate that

i play linebacker and we usually get the credit for the defense but without the D Line we would be nothing.
@rapiddominace why do we need to know you were from cali?
I like how they say riverside community college but i see clay matthews, brian cushin, and rey maualuga practicing haha

dam they made that ball drill look so easy we did that practice and we were slow as fuck haha
why does the defensive line always push the offensive line backwards? Does the defensive line have some sort of advantage?
what is the ball drill exactly good for?
