    Excellent Job . I have no experience with this system and need to change a cartridge out in my Church's bathroom. Very clear and concise information with out the usual drama that most guys get into.. Thank you very much.

    Excellent video! I can see the problem now - the actuator on my unit is no longer attached to anything. It just lays there loose and needs to be replaced. You explained everything so clearly and provided excellent video shots of everything. Thank you.

    Fabulous tip for the cartridge wrench!
    I broke the plastic one I bought from Sloan and wish I would have watched this video!
    Spent a bunch of time fabricating a V new one when all I needed were channel locks!
    Excellent content!

    $47.17 including Florida sales tax on Amazon. Now I find out why my water bill has been so high lately. The squeaking noise as it filled to the top but not completely had me investigating. Tim, you're the best! Keep it up! Homeboy here in Tampa Town.

    Thanks! You saved me. The instructions on the package for the replacement tube said to thread the cylinder down to where one thread was showing. That didn't do it. I saw the way you dialed it in and that was what I needed. Thanks for the great videos!

    A little grease on the cartridge threads is a great tip. This made it a lot easier to turn the cartridge and to calibrate it correctly. This was the second video I watched, which resulted in complete success, aafter failing with the another video. I did drop that "don't lose" screw in the tank (before I saw your video), but fortunately was able to retrieve it with a grabber tool. Thanks for a very helpful video.

    You don't have to loosen the other clip as the rod slides out, and you don't have to take the screw all the way out because once loosened, you can push the clip out of the way. That way, you won't lose them

  • @markbedard6238
    @markbedard6238 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good video very thorough but you only need to remove 1 screw and loosen the other on the flush rod to remove it and some you just have to loosen both and lift and turn the first one and the rod slides right out thanks

    i cannot thank you enough. i was ready to throw thIs one out even after following the instructions on the package that my new valve came in because it kept running. instructions say to tighten the valve until you see 1 or 2 threads at the top. not wanting to strip the threads i was nervous about going down any farther. so, i'd decided to chuck it and get a new toilet. when you said to tighten until it stops running i reAlized i hadn't done THAT! may god bless you tim....MERRY CHRISTMAS,....FRANK

The cartridge was tricky, but I changed to a pliers that are even length and with the screw driver in between the two legs ….. allowed me the leverage to take off the cartridge. Thank you again!!!

    I had an American Standard with this POS system in a house I built in 96. Every couple of years the cart. went. It would make some fun noises on it's own in the middle of the night. Screeching like. The main issue was the linkage Am. St. used. It all rusted out even though there shouldn't be water in the tank. They wanted $300 for new linkage and clips. I ended up making my own out of car door linkage rods and the clips that hold them in. I also drilled and wired them. The last year I was in that house the pressure vessel decided to end it's life. I swore mostly because of the linkage and no warranty on it I would never give a dime to American standard again. Moen, Kohler, and Toto for me.

    After six years this September 2023, I am ordering a new Flushmate 504 unit to replace this leaky one. All attempts at repairing failed. It started off with seeing about a quarter inch of water in the tank and a drip coming from the supply valve area. What got me to looking was a loud squeal all night after the last flush I did, that I can only assume was the slow intake of water to replace what was leaking out of the unit. This morning I took the tank off the toilet and took the 504 out of the tank. I then cut the hose from the supply valve and put it back with a radiator clamp. I decided to test the unit before bolting the tank and everything back together., Glad I did as now when I turned the water on the upper valve is spewing water out onto the floor. Checking for tightness, duck valve good, I gave up.
    As you cannot find a lower supply valve for sale on Amazon or the manufacturer's website, my only option was to order a complete new unit. Original cost of toilet with Flushmate was $392. New unit on Amazon is $169. Annual cost is around $93. What sucks is I had bought two of Flushmate toilets back in the late 80's I think it was from Home Depot when they first came out for the consumer. I sold that house and the new owners are enjoying them and I never had a problem one with either of them. I guess quality is getting worse like everything else, right? Just pay the price and go onward. See this link for my test after cutting off a bit of hose with the old clamp and using a radiator clamp.

    Having problems with two of my toilets (I have 4 of these). In one, I put in a new cartridge and followed the directions, (except for the grease because they said not to) but the water never stopped running. The cartridge is all the way down now and I am afraid it won't come back out. One of my other toilets is constantly spraying water inside the ceramic tank and dripping down the outside of the tank after it hits the lid. Is the water spraying from the bottom seal? Do I need a complete presurized tank replacement on this one?

    I've never seen this till today when at a gas station a regular 2 piece toilet had a power flush. Lifted the lid and saw sloan flushmate. How brilliant this is. Using city water pressure to pressurize a toilet tank. I'm in awe.
    So now starting to look into buying one to test for our house then maybe 3 more if the first goes good... butt question... (double t intended lol)
    Other than sloan flushmate, are there reputable others out there? Light commercial or residential type grade and pricing?
    PS not going to tell the wife about it. She can get shocked when she does her first flush as I did lol.

  • @johnbeena2282
    @johnbeena2282 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My pressure canister does not pressurize and water leaks into the toilet bowl. But is it necessary to change the whole cartridge to take care of this problem? Would just changing the O-rings take care of it? That would save over $25 if all it needs is replacing the 2 O-rings or just lubricate them.

    At our business, we have 3 toilets with the Sloan Flushmate system. They are awesome, never plug up and always flush. They are 1.6 GP flush toliets and never need a second flush.
    At my personal house, we don't have city water or a well. We capture rainwater off the roof and during dry times pay the water man to deliver 2500 gallons for $120. So we pay more for water than most.
    I have an older toilet and the stupid handle keeps sticking and running out expensive water. My first thought was to just replace the handle. But long term, it might make more sense to just replace the toilet with a more efficient one. I like the Flushmate system, so was looking at the toilet at Famous supply and they have some that are the Flushmate IV system that only 1 GPF. Wondering if these water saving Flushmate's work well?
