I liked this one as much as, if not more than, the Overholt 10. I still like my ryes a but more "rye-y," but I'm much happier at $65 than I was at $95 for the other one.
Edit: Also the finish hangs on forever.
I couldn’t agree more. I think you have a lower “nut tolerance” than I do. To me, this is barely nutty and certainly less nutty than Old Overholt 10, which was a great pour, but a little nut forward.
You are spot on saying this is closer to a high rye bourbon than a rye. I think Beam knocked it out of the park on this release relative to the availability and price point.
I don't like the way you are saying "nut" but I agree
@@Tranzekno LOL!
Will have to get one. This years KC 12yr is really good
Excited to try this one
Yep I’m near Cleveland and it dropped on a day with blantons and something else and I had an easy time grabbing one. I was very happy with the purchase and if I had. Ire time I’d have grabbed a second one. I think I’ll go review it now 😂
Love seeing more great ryes at great age statements and at good price points. Glad to hear that it’s more than just an age statement as well. Nice breakdown and great review. Cheers 🥃
Year of the Rye! i’ll have to add this one to the rye rack
This dropped here in CT in early May. Stores maybe got 3 bottles if any at all. I saw it. I Googled it. Absolutely nothing on the internet back then. No press release from Beam. No reviews on Reddit or TH-cam. I thought I was being punk'd thinking "What the F is this bottle?"
I didn't purchase one then. But it is seems findable months later if you have a thorough look around.
Thanks for the review Cam!
Just got one that was a store pick, 9 plus years old. It’s fantastic!
Sitting on shelves in VA which is state controlled. Grabbed today and tasting now....
@@paulgrace1279 let me know what you think. I like it as a very full-flavored, no frills sipper
Just got one today for 59 in AZ Sam’s club
Great review Cameron. I’m in So. California. Bought 2 a month ago and they’re still everywhere here, not allocated at all.
I loved KC cask strength rye, haven’t found a suitable replacement for that yet (Old Overholt rye cask strength was too nutty and not complex enough) but this is the next best thing.
So ive been drinking quite a dew bourbon and reyes and for the price i domt think anything beats the 7 year old. I just barely found out avout the 10 year and 7 year single barrel.
Great stuff. Love that they releases this. Knob prices right.
You have to do a review of Found North Batch 009!
This showed up at Sam’s club around me for less than 60. Not allocated, it’s been collecting dust.
Same here.
Cam have you ever had any binder's stash ryes?
First again 🎉😊
