We have chosen our parents' provider and have decided to self manage thereby trying to minimise the amount of fees coming out of their home care package so we have more money to spend on home modifications and equipment my parents need. We're finding it hard to get responses to phone calls or emails to the provider. It seems that unless you get the provider to fully manage, you are a·lower priority because they're not getting the higher fees out of you. Where do we go from here?
All government registered home care providers, including those who only provide a “self management” service must uphold the Charter of Aged Care Consumer Rights. Below is the link to what these consumer rights are. If you’re not getting the information you need, your provider may be in breach of consumer right #6. You can contact the Older Persons Advocacy Network (1800 700 600) or the Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission (1800 951 822) to help you work through this challenge with your provider
Hey Jim, why is the My Aged Care website so clunky? 😅😂 It’s so antiquated to use it’s frustrating, even in your Debo’ bringing back a Victorian Provider is stupid, I naively contacted a provider many kilometres from my home town and they said no way were they able to offer their services, no wonder us old people are confused. I finally found my provider by a recommendation from my lawn mowing man I am using. Can you do a video on OTs ( Occupational Therapist) as there is no explanation of their function that I can find on the My Aged Care website, I even rang them and the person in their office had no clue!😠
my husband and I have over $35,000 between us in our fund - so when this quarterly amount is in use and we will be left with $1000 at the end, every quarter who gets all our money and where does it go. I find important questions are not being answered by you.........
Great information thank you:)
You are so welcome!
