After watching the first part that is "Libertine", you must immediately see the sequel with "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces"!!!
There is so much to say about this MV..... It's very cool you're taking care to pick up infos on Wiki and translating the lyrics, it's the first key to get deep inside her Art. This MV was played in a big Parisian Theater for the Press... In France, this masterpiece, who needed not so much money at this time (it was the last chance for Mylène I think to make a real hit) but the result ware compared with Stanley Kubricks "Barry Lindon", thanks to the genius director Laurent Boutonnat and a legend was born in 1986.....
(She became a singer randomly meeting Laurent Boutonnat, she took theatre lessons before, living thanks to posing or playing in TV ads....)
She creates with Laurent another character for each single since decades (Mylene is a big fan of Depeche Mode, Kate Kush, and David Bowie).
"Libertine" is considered in France as a revolution for a Music Video, as MJ "Thriller" worldwide.
The combination between Mylene & Laurent's vibes, lyrics, romanticism, cinematic, music & arrangements till making from each of this songs a different moment of grace LIVE is the definition of a full Artist, living for that, going on taking risks, making her THE living legend of French Pop Music.

Mylène hit everyone with this video, and the following ones. She became like a trademark for beautiful and luxuriant videos.
And the first live concert she did definitely established her as a star.

That's not entirely true that nobody was bothered about the MV in France in the 80's. A lot of TV shows cut the nudity scenes...
@@stefblt5771 True and it was funny that this video was somehow sometimes played late at night but on the other hand we had a playmate bare breasts at 7pm on a national television 😅
This was on French TV when I was younger. It's cultural, that's my childhood, TH-cam can't censor that. French have a cultural pass...
Thanks Shahin for the reaction! I love that you watched it. I was born the year of its release. I discovered Mylène later and I think the first time I watched it I was about 14 years old and I just thought it was the coolest video I ever saw. Still to this day one of my favorites ever. She is si provocant, yet so classy. And guess what? It has a sequel which is ever better!

this clip when it came out was a killer, never seen in france! as much for the quality, the staging, the narration of a story, the sets and the nudity.

i remember the first time it was broadcasted, at "family time" it was cut, for all public. We waited late at the end of evening, to see the whole video, uncut.

Mylène alias Libertine has survived the ambush and is saved by British soldiers who erroneously walked into French territory. This video is even more lavish; hundreds of extras as soldiers from English, French and Prussian armies who march against each other. It is also 17 minutes long. These two videos together are indeed a movie.

I was only 10 when the MV aired in the 80's. It was cut because too long and too many nudity scenes. There's a sequel: "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces." Fun fact: 1) it's the first time Mylène appears with red hair. 2) they didn't have the budget to pay professional actors so they asked employees of the record company to appear in the MV, for free of course. The jealous girl in red was Mylène's choreagrapher at that time.

Ah Shahin i warned you when you discovered Mylene that she can go very far for her art and I didn't know how you can react about nudity. If you are so chocked or not. Don't forget she's french and not american and that it was in 80's when artists were more free than now. There are so much clip videos from Mylene that are just so Mylene :-)
