Hangzhou is my favorite city in China. Capital of six dynasties, southern terminus of the Grand Canal, numerous Buddha & Taoist temples, unique tea culture, Hangzhou has got so much to offer. Enjoy your time exploring this great city.
It was so peaceful everywhere we went. Ill definitely be back in summer so explore more temples and the tea fields and lakes in warmer weather! Thank you for watching ❤
It was wonderful! It would be a great place to go when the weather is a little bit warmer, you could spend a whole day walking around there (same with West Lake)! Maybe we could do a day trip together in summer? 🤔❤️
I was born and raised in Hangzhou. I completed all my education in Hangzhou, including my undergraduate studies. I moved to the US in 1990 and have been back to visit Hangzhou throughout the years. West lake still looks the same. However, the city has completely changed.
The boat trip looked so romantic- hopefully there weren't many/any mosquitoes there! Also, both the Korean BBQ and the steakhouse food looked so good. I would forget the steak and just devour the chips and the sliders lol
It was very romantic but far too cold for mosquitos (thankfully??😂) The Korean bbq was amazing, it’s our favorite food, but since we went on New Year’s Eve we had to wait almost 2.5 hours to get a seat! It was crazy! The chili fries were also the nicest ones I’ve had in China. I was very happy with the food.
Living in Hangzhou for almost 5 years now(浙大). Those landmarks :Xihu, Yangong di, Sudi, Wulin, Hefeng street….Kerry center i walk and run almost every day. I can attest that Hangzhou is the most beautiful city I have ever seen so far. It is like my second home…..

Sometimes limited time is the push you need! I didn’t see much of Shanghai for the first 6 months I was here (although there was a long lockdown that didn’t help 😂) ❤️
This is the best West Lake footage I have seen recently. I have noticed several times in your videos when the timing was well chosen-You either chose early morning or late afternoon when the color saturation is the best. Nice composition, too! Other people probably had to film whenever they could-either rainy (Yikes) or midday when the sun washed out all the colors. It looks like you had a nice trip! Haven't been there for ages and miss the city.🙁
Thank you! We were very lucky with the timing and were able to get a boat just at the right time as the sun was setting. The weather was pretty overcast the whole time we were there so I had to try as best I could to fit that into the mood of the videos (hence why the tea fields seem a little bit more dreary!). Thanks for watching❤️
@@ExpatNatt You did great, given the time constraint! I know how hard this is, as I have taught photography. It's not easy to combine a trip and filming because you also need time for yourself. I hope everyone appreciates your hard work. If I am not wrong, I think southern China gets more rain than the north, but not as cold.:)
@@Thomas-Chin10 thank you for the compliments! I had heard that it often rains in Hangzhou but we were quite lucky. Although we are heading south in a couple of weeks so hoping any rain holds off whilst we are there hahah 😂

I remember growing up seeing a documentary series on the West lake Chinese restaurant which purported to be the biggest Chinese restaurant in the world. It was a decade ago so wondering if the restaurant is still there
Oh I didn’t know this! I didn’t see it but the west lake is so big you can barely see the other side of it so there was much that I didn’t explore. Maybe I’ll go back in warmer weather and see if I can find it! ❤
Thank you! I’ll have a new video out tomorrow at 5pm Beijing Time, so make sure you subscribe and turn the notification bell on so you don’t miss a new upload! ❤️❤️
Hangzhou is a very beautiful city, so many things to do there so one weekend was not enough for us. We plan to go there one more time to complete our video series about the city. Some other places I can recommend: Silk Museum, Hangzhou Songchen, Hangzhou city god temple. Great video, keep it up!
Finally China is beginning to open up again. Hope my chinese stocks (Ali Baba, Tencent)and China related stocks (AAPL and BHP) also begin to recover this year 😔🫤
I’m sure they will! I’m surprised your Tencent stocks didn’t go through the roof with lockdowns, as all online teaching was done through Tencent and they made lots of profit these past couple of years! Things are definitely looking up now, if you can get the visa you no longer need fo quarantine to enter China🎉🎉

I hope to live in Hangzhou someday. The pagoda I think underwent repairs and reconstruction in modern times but it was initially constructed ages ago .
The remains of the old original pagoda can be found within the new pagoda, as well as a small museum about the history which is very interesting. I didn’t have much time to stay and read this time.
They all charge different amounts, some was a donation, some try to scam you. I think this one was 80rmb per person? They don’t like to tell you the price until you get on the boat 😅
@@TravelEndleslie they have a metro system which is pretty good, but mostly we just used Didi (like Uber) since when we visited it was so cold and taxis are so cheap in China. For the further out places like the tea plantation the best way to get there is to drive or take a didi. Public transport is good if you’re staying in the city centre. Hope this helps! ❤️
If you only have 3 days in Shanghai you’d need to sacrifice an entire day get the train to Hangzhou and then get a didi from there to the plantations. Hangzhou West Lake is also definitely worth the visit but it’s whether you’d be happy to lose a day of Shanghai for it. Personally I’d say you need 3-4 days for Shanghai to get the most of it (especially if you planned on visiting Disney) but if you want to squeeze everything into 2 days it would be possible, although possibly quite stressful! Hope this helps!
There really aren’t many mountains or tea plantations near Shanghai. This might be the closest. For more dramatic landscapes and tea plantations I recommend Anji. We will have an Anji video coming out soon which will show you how to make the most of a 2-3 day trip from Shanghai ❤️
Thanks for the tip! I can’t even sleep in our apartment with all windows closed without getting bitten, let alone outside or in temples! Luckily I have some mosquito bracelets that really do the trick (although they are for kids and are very tight on my wrists 😂😂)
