I used my first set of centramatic wheel balances on my second set of tires for this 2018 Goldwing tour. After 5000 miles I’d recommend them to everyone. Worth every penny.
Dynabeads for years. Had a tire changed and I told them there were beads in it. They didn't save them, and just balanced it normally. One long ride and i could feel that carpo inducing vibration in the grips, I put the beads back in and just gone. So smooth.
Just replaced the OEM Bridgestones with another duplicate set. Got 13,253 miles from them so decided to go back with the same thing. In addition, decided to try Centramatic wheel balancers on this 2018 Wing. So far so good but can't really tell the difference from balancing weights. Some claim that you get prolonged life from your tires with Centramatics but that remains to be seen. Doubt I will ever get any return on investment with the Centramatics. There are only two reasons I went with Centramatics: 1) The shop that installs my tires absolutely hates beads because of the mess, 2) On a trip with an emergency tire replacement you can be assured that the tire is balanced even if the guy changing the tire doesn't know how to balance them.
I switched to Centramatics this last winter. I see many positive comments on those balancers. I'm excited to see what difference they make. I only have 1,500 miles on the bike with them on and I like them so far but its too early to comment on them too much. I'll have a better understanding for a solid opinion by the end of this summer for sure.
@@cyclechris6591 I have a 2018 GoldWing Tour. I love these centramatics! I was looking to get a set for my other motorcycle (Indian Springfield) but sadly, they don’t make them for that bike. They are highly recommended!
Thanks for your discussion, I have Centramatics and they are great. They changed the handling in a positive way, and they give me that ‘riding on rails’ feeling. My stock set of Dunlops were gone at 6,400 miles, so I am hoping to get 10,000 + out of the new Bridgestone OEM G852 and 853. There were no balancing weights on my wheels and I found that odd, but I read a lot about the heavy spot being marked on the wheel and the tire and wrongly thought it would not be an issue.
Just replaced tires on '19 DCT Tour and added the Centramatic set . I was impressed right off the bat as the bike felt more stable. Side note, I added Dunlop E4s. I have used the E series of tires on my past '97 & '10 Goldwings. Never had a problem with them. I expect the same performance out of these E4s.
I agree Wayne, I'm putting Dunlop's on my 2019 DCT Tour next week instead of the Bridgestone. My experience with the E4 is they have better feel, handling and braking than the E3. However the longevity is slightly lower on the E4.
On my 2016 F6b with the Traxxion package I found the Bridgestones to be softer, especially on sidewall stiffness. I kept getting nails and screws on the rear twice so my 3rd replacement on rear was a Dunlop e4. You can feel the sidewall is really stout. I replaced the stock front with another Bridgestone. It lasted 12k. Pretty good for a front.
I have heard a lot of good things about Centramatics. When I have to change tires, I will be going to Centramatics. I am hoping a big difference in ride and tire life.
I used to use DynaBeads. Then I switched to Ride-On -- Great for balancing like the beads and it provides puncture protection. I like that it is more paste-like (rather than soupy) once it spreads over the tire over time. That makes it so service places will still change the tires.
I had Centramatics on my 2006 Wing and liked them. Have not put anything on or in my 2018 Wing tires Bike came with Bridgstones and I put 12,000 on them before replacing them with Dunlop E4's. Their ad said it would cross the US 6 times, or something like that. And for the additional expense I expected good mileage. But at 10,000 miles I have to replace the front tire. Worn to the wear bars. Back tire still has lots of tread left so I'll must replace the front and that will probably get me thru this season. Then back to Bridgestones.
I use Dynabeads and Bridgestone’s on my GW and I’m very happy with both. I rode a Valkyrie for 12 years and still ride it but the Dunlop’s would not hold up. I never abused that bike and checked tire pressure’s religiously but those Dunlop’s would start to cup and get noisy at less than 5k. Oklahoma roads would never let a GW get 15k on a tire, front or back. I get new at 10k regardless of the tread. I look forward to your next video CM.
Exact same bad experience with e4 s in Oklahoma. 6k and singing. I think the bridgestones ride and stick better. Unfortunately the stones seem to pick up nails and screws too. E4s almost 100 more per tire last check. Weird Oklahoma roads. I rode Arkansas last month. They have the best motorcycle roads Ive ever seen. They have a .5% road tax. Totally worth it.
@@cyclechris6591 I personally have not had any issue with nails or screws on my GW I’ve had for 4 years and average 5k to 6 k miles a year riding. I couldn’t agree more on Arkansas roads. When I take my bike in for tires at a little shop about 55 miles from home, the guy always says you could get more miles out of these tires. I’m in Ponca city Chris, you?
I love the “RideOn” tire sealant/balance product. It works inside the tire to balance like the centrimatics and will seal most road punctures. 2016 F6b with the garmin tire pressure monitoring system to a garmin 595lm.
I have Centramatic on my wing. So no need to worry about the moister when putting air in the bike, and don't have to purchase beads every time I put on a new tire. You do have to remove the wheels to install them. I really can tell the difference in the ride, since I have them on. Yes I'm very happy with them.
Greetings. I've been using the Centramatics for a little over a years now. I like them and think my 2014 was smoother with them. I now have them on the 2016. I also have the Elite 4's on for the longer tread life. We'll see how that goes. They seem to handle and ride nicely.
My new to me 08 GL1800 came with a set of new tires. When it’s time to replace these, I will order and install the Centramatics. I don’t need to invest a lot into this bike but I did order the belly pan which comes in today, an additional reservoir Ram Mount and am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new F4 windshield. I will evaluate the lighting situation later this winter and that’s about it.
I am a Dynabead guy, I've been using them for ten years now, and I'm very pleased. Another consideration in tire balancing is that the tire changes in balance as it wears, certainly not something that stationary weights can help with when they are stuck in place on the wheel.
My 2022 Tour DCT only went 8000 miles on the Factory Dunlop D423. The rear was actually gone at 7500. I pushed it to 8000. Going to try Bridgestone this time. Always kept the tire pressure perfect at 36ft/41 rear.
I used Dyna-beads but just made the switch to Centramatics. They both work using the same science, the benefits of Centramatics over Dyna-beads is just that they aren't affected by moisture and they don't have to be reapplied during every tire change, once installed you just forget they are there - just slap the new tires on and go.... They stay balanced throughout the life of the tire.
And you don’t have to wonder if the beads are actually in the tire. Don’t have to worry about moisture in the tire. Have a water/dryer on compressor and your good. Don’t have to worry about beads slinging against or getting caught up on the tpms sensor. I run centramatic on my 2005 and will be running them on my 2021. Made a better ride on my 2005.
Just use wheel weights on my 2015 f6b. Ran one set of E4s good tires but on the mountain roads here in northern California I have to say I like the Bridgestone tires better.
Ever since I saw BTBRV (Big Truck Big RV) on UTube remove his F450 beads in wet clumps, I have been opposed to beads. On a long trip it’s difficult to control the amount of moisture in the air you use to air up a tire. At home I have a water trap, but that’s not the case when you’re on the road. The wet beads on the BTBRV video made his trucks front tires seriously out of balance. The centramatic balancers are a lifetime fix and have proven themselves effective for me.
Another great Vlog, we hope Ricki's (sorry if I misspelled) mom is doing ok. I'll try DynaBeads on my 1st tire change on my 2021 GW, have been doing balance with weights on previous bikes.
Installed Centramatics on my 2018 GW at 8000 mikes when my tires were worn beyond comfortable. Now at 21,000 my tires still look brand new. St least twice the mileage and a really smoooooth non- bouncey ride. Love Centramatics but dislike the purchase price - however they last forever and don’t refresh or maintenance.
Just put New Bridgestone Tires and Dynabeads on my Harley but really want to test ride a Goldwing! Have only rode one it was like the First one of the new design in 2001.
Mine has Centramatic. They work. I will say I had to replace the front brakes after 11665 miles for some pretty serious uneven wear. Max Traxxion man doesn’t recommend them for the new Wings. I may dump mine next tire change if this thing keeps eating brake pads
Cruiseman, I put Centramatics on my '08 airbag model, and the ride is much smoother. I'd rather have the balancing beads in sealed circular tubes than inside my tires. Also don't have to worry about moisture in the tires. I also have Dunlop E4's and they seem like fine tires. The Centramatics are supposed to help prevent cupping and extend the life of the tires. We'll see. No experience in the rain yet. You said how smooth your ride is with the Dynabeads and also on the 2018 compared to the older front suspension (on other videos). But, on your videos, it looks like you bounce up and down way more on the 2018 than on your older wing with telescopic forks. Your videos on the older wing seemed way smoother with much less bouncing. Is that just because of how you have the camera mounted that faces back at you?
I'm double darkside on my 2018 with Centramatics. Never going back to oem/anybody's motorcycle tires on this Wing. And it's common sense to have reasonably dry air for your tires. Constant moisture in the tires can help cause rubber rot and cause TPMS sensors and transmitters to fail. That's why I keep a moisture trap and motor guard filter on my compressor. Air going into the tires is dry and clean enough to paint a Rolls Royce with.
Mile Marker Mike: I just let the dealer put the weights on when I do a tire change. It’s hard to guarantee no moisture unless you go to a specific shop that deals with nitrogen
Double darkside means you run a rear motorcycle tire on the front. For a Goldwing the usual tire is a Battlax BT46 I run darkside on the rear and Dunlop E4 on the front. I absolutely hate the E4. It hates grooved pavement, grated bridges, and tar snakes. I used to use dynabeads but moved to the Centramatics. Honestly can’t tell any difference between the two. Both work.
Hi , thanks for the vids. I just purchased a 2021 Goldwing Tour. It has Bridgestone tires. Front tire is at 36 psi but sings like a truck tire when i brake. Loud. I am not braking hard enough for the abs to come on. Has anyone else has this issue ? Thanks.
That's not the tire. It's the slotted brake rotor. Our bikes have last gen sport bike brakes. The way the disc and brake pads interface what your hearing under braking is air being pumped, heated and released to combat brake fade.
greetings,, great video as usual, now regarding dynabeeds is it written on the bag for which tire or the weight of the amount mentioned since the front and back tires are different in size or no matter what the size is. thanks
I'm almost curious if you could use the beads over again. I don't do my own tires other than removing them from the bike and taking them up to the tire place. Good discussion just curious if we get longer life out of the tire with either balancing system.
I researched this before using them. There are a few things you have to keep in mind. Like, when putting air in the tire, the valve should not be at the 6 o'clock position, but rather 4 o'clock or 8 o'clock to prevent the air from blowing the beds up and possibly into the valve or TPMS. I have never had it be a problem, but anything is possible.
I had a terrible experience with beads. They turned into dust and glumps and ruined my Dunlop American Elite 3 front tire. It became out of balance after 14k miles. I can't recommend them at all. Loss of 2K more miles.

There is a chart on the Innovative Balancing website. Depends on the size of your tire. For a Goldwing with OEM tires it is 2oz per tire.
Beads will wear the inner liner of the tire, has this ever been an issue for you ?
