Dear Mikey you are an inspiration to all. I started crocheting as a kid and thought I knew how but you have taught me a lot since I found you on TH-cam. I have been teaching my granddaughter to crochet and one of the first things I told her to remember was if you want to do a new stitch find Mikey on TH-cam and he will show you the right way to do it. Thank you for all your teachings, you do it in a way that doesn't make a person feel stupid.
I'm an addict in recovery and I started crocheting when I was in rehab and I have been obsessed ever since! I just got my 6 months clean today ❤️ I destroyed my entire life and I had nothing left. Trying to rebuild it without my crutch, drugs, was incredibly difficult and crocheting was honestly my little escape. It helped me feel useful and productive when I could make things for my few friends/family I had left. I feel that in a way crocheting things for other people really helped them believe in me again, that if I put that much work into something for THEM that I really cared and I was in fact a better person. Mikey you are one of my favorite people ever. I love you so much. YOU make me happy!!
WhyClaireY Great job on your 6 months sober!!! My husband is a recovering addict as well & I know how hard it is as I've seen his struggles as well as the struggles I've had as someone who is in love with an addict. I would like to ask your permission to have you in my prayers that you can have the daily strength to stay sober, as I know it truly is a daily struggle. Moving to crochet will give you something much better to focus your mind on so you aren't in your thoughts, which is the time most addicts have issues with. And maybe you will gain a new addiction for yarn lol! I have a major addiction for yarn & my husband makes fun of me for it. But, it's definitely something much better to be addicted to! Good luck & blessings on your journey!
Diana May thank you very much! I would very much appreciate your thoughts and prayers! God has moved mountains for me! I'm totally addicted to buying yarn lol God bless you and your husband!!!!
WhyClaireY, congratulations on your six months of sobriety. I'm not an addict but I was a codependent person to my significant other. During a therapy session with him one day, his therapist called me that. Well, I was highly offended stating I don't depend on him for anything. Then he explained that codependency meant I was living his addiction. That was it for me. It took a while, but I finally removed him from my life because he was becoming very violent with me. I'm sorry to say he died from his addiction, but the scars I was left with I still carry today. I have recently picked back up my love to crochet and the healing process for me has been tremendous. I do it every minute of the day I get a chance to. All I'm saying is YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!! Let it help you in your healing. Be proud. You ARE deserving, and giving to others is a wonderful thing. Good luck to you in your new journey. Carry a crochet hook everywhere you go. Get a key chain. Make a necklace. YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!
"My yarn is my happiness." YES YES YES! I do the same thing, sort by brand. Only I'm a little bit OCD about it & sort by color in that brand as well. LOL! Much love to you, Mikey & HUGE thanks for all you do! ♡♡♡♡
Yarn is my happiness to. I thought I was the only one that organizes by brand and not by color. Besides when brands are mixed matched you may not get the same texture. I learned in the beginning of learning to crochet. Thanks for sharing this video
I love your giggle! I am envious of your collection of fabulous yarn choices. One day I hope to have a craft room for such things. I just want to say thank you. Your videos have taught me so much, and have given me the confidence to try projects I thought I could never do.
You totally get it Mikey - there's a sense of sheer joy and peacefulness when I'm organizing and reorganizing my yarn - i love the textures and the colors and it IS what makes me happy too!
I'm autistic and crochet is one of the ways i cope with the anxiety that sometimes accompanies autism. The behavior is actually referred to as "stimming" which is shorthand for self-stimulatory behavior. It's basically one of the ways i self-soothe when i get anxious. It's also a tool i use to pull myself out of an autistic meltdown. Meltdowns happen to autistic people when we get overwhelmed by the world around us. ... Crochet is a socially acceptable way to burn off that anxiety and to seperate ourselves temporarily from a situation that is overwhelming to us ... It works as a stim because once you learn a new stitch, it becomes muscle memory with no thinking required. I also love the play of colors in the projects i work on.
Oh my god, this is heaven!!! I will show my husband this video so that he will stop complaining about my yarn. He always says this is what the makers of star trek thought of, when they mad the tripples :-) crochet and knitting is my life and I am always happy to see, I am not alone! Sorry for poor english Greatings from Germany
Mikey, thank you. I have to go this morning to take care of my sister's yarn collection and now I know why she had so much. It brought her a ton of happiness. I have several organizations I am sharing it with, along with family members and friends, and yes I am keeping some for myself. Ginger was an avid crochet artist just like yourself. I was so blessed to have her in my life for the past few years, her little addiction of happiness has become mine. Thank you and God bless you.
So it's 2017 , in2014 I was gravely ill I could barely go to the bathroom let alone do any craft project. I always wanted to learn to crochet , my sister would never help me and I hated the colours she would use but I admired her ability. So I was at deaths door and I needed to distract myself and I found you, so for the first yr even just making a tiny square made me happy and then in 2015 I found out I was to become a grandmother for the first time, so I found you again and I have made blankets and have even moved on to crochet toys, I just found out I'll be a nanna again by October and I'll be working on special gifts for my grandchild. Thank you so much mikey . Xoxox
Bless you,,, NEVER too much yarn, fabric or sewing machines and needles or hooks... Retired/70yrs, and having a blast...A day without handwork or being creative is like a day without sunshine!!! HNY
As soon as you said healing in your video it hit me. I started crocheting again as a way to heal. I lost my dad last year just as the pandemic clamped everything down. I turned to crocheting again because I needed something to focus on and a way to give back to others. My plan is to make blankets and give them away in honor and memory of my father. Thank you Mikey for all you have taught us and shared with us. It is much appreciated. You have inspired me so much and I am grateful.
I totally agree! I never realized how much crochet helps me focus, clear my mind, and works so well for my mental health issue when I had to go 5 days without it. I got upset over something, and ended up crying for 30 minutes. I continually felt lost, confused, upset, unsure of myself. My boyfriend saw the state I was in, and told me that he will make sure if we stay overnight at someones home, to make sure that I don't go ANYWHERE without my crochet. I will now make sure I have a WIP bag just for overnight visits. Thanks so much for sharing, and for just being amazing! Happy crocheting everyone!
Usually on sale. I've come a long way through crochet. Making people happy with the little gifts I give them makes me feel fantastic. I love you Micky.
You are a sweetheart. I love you for being you. As I was listening and walking with you along your yarn journey, I also thought of the dust, but you answered it right away. Also, yarn and crocheting makes me the happiest woman on earth. When I'm crocheting, my mind is at ease, and I feel so refreshed. Thank you for your video, and stay happy with your balls. I love your collection and display.
Mikey, what balls you have!!!!! I'm envious, but my love of yarn and crocheting almost match yours. Thank you for all your tutorials, I have learned so much from you. What a joy you are to watch. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
I have started crocheting again after stopping over 30 years ago. I am enjoying it sooo much, and a big reason is because of your TH-cam videos. My husband told me yesterday that "this yarn thing has gotten out of hand"....... Lol! Thank you, Mikey, for making me happy. So many projects to make, so little time.
Mikey, I love your giggle. Your giggle with all of your balls reminds me of the first time my kids heard AC/DC Big Balls. I love it. I lost mine a year ago, my collection... I am currently rebuilding my collection from ground zero. Matter of fact, last year's Spring Crochet along was very emotional for me. I had just learned what happened and that was my first purchase. It was very hard for me. Thank you for ALWAYS brightening my day! Keep being you!!
You are such a sweetie pie! I love my yarn also. And thank you for all the inspiration and sharing your talent with us. My husband tells me he may have to do a yarn intervention. As I turned 61 this year, he said I may never use what I have and I told him my best friend already knows it all goes to her and to the church. Love your way of orgianizing.
Great collection! Mikey, you just don't realize how you make me happy as I watch your videos. I love how you teach me to crochet with accompanying hand gestures and funny talks.. you always make my day. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Awesome . Certainly makes me happy to see you so happy. Crocheting certainly does bring peace and happiness to me. Thank you for all your creative ideas you share with us all. Keep smiling.....
When you got to 2:02, I needed to go get some yarn and love it. You're right, Mikey, fiber work reaches into the mind and heart, while the hands are at work in a beautiful way. Mine have been crocheting 50 years and rarely are the projects for myself. I cant wait for my order of yarn to arrive so I can start on my pal's poncho. Thanks for affirmation, Mikey. God bless you.
If someone tells you that you have too much yarn, you need to think about that friendship! You can NEVER have "Too much yarn"!!! Yarn is my happiness and my escape from mundane life!
I am an avid crocheter and cross stitcher. It helps me relieve stress, helps me regroup, and allows me to breathe and feel comfortable in myself. The saying "I crochet/stitch so that I don't kill people" definitely rings true with me! Mikey, your stash is EPIC!! I loved this video! Happy hooking, and TFS! 💗
My yarn collection is stored in the master bedroom closet for the time being. Fortunately my hubby understands since it takes up the whole back wall. Just a quick glance in the morning starts my day right. When I'm stressed I just have to stand in there looking it over and contemplating what to make next, and the stress just rolls off. Yarn and crocheting are my passion and bring me utter joy every day. Thanks, Mikey, for sharing your "collection" and your passion for the art, too!
Thank you for making the point that your yarn makes you happy! I agree. I love colors and I love yarn and I don't care how much I have.. I like the way you organize it by brand - very good point.
You almost made me cry. Beginner here and totally hooked. It is so personal and promotes a feeling of accomplishment. Just getting to thinking about organization as I buy more yarn. Thanks for heading me in the right direction.
I fell and broke my spine/neck so I had to find something to do, due to not being able to work I seen a video & fell in love with crocheting it gives me peace when I'm in a lot of pain my goal is to have all the yarn I can you are a inspiration to me Mikey God bless you & your videos.. Love Always Kenna Haughney from Lawton Oklahoma..
I agree with you so much! Nothing makes me happier than to create something and yarn brings me so much joy (especially when I can get great quality yarn for a cheap price). My friend brought me to the craft store during a big yarn sale and he said that seeing how happy I was (literally hopping up and down at the register) made him happy.
I love you!! You taught me not only how to crochet but also how to make so many wonderful things. Your videos make me happy and your a wonderful person and teacher!
Wow! What an amazing place! Lots of balls of yarns around! They are so pretty! I love yarns too. For me crocheting is my way of relaxation and stress minimizer.
You're awesome, Mikey. I really love how you phrased it about our yarn addiction making us happy. I needed that! Crocheting takes us to our happy place... easing us out of all the worries & pain & stress around us. I credit my mom for getting me "hooked" on crocheting by teaching me how to make the Red Heart Sashay Scarves but it only made me want more. I credit you with actually reteaching me many of my long lost skills &actually getting me going. You're a fabulous teacher with a great attitude. Thank you for sharing your love & passion for yarn & crochet!
Mikey, like your video. I learned basic crocheting with my mom when I was young and never continued to crochet. After so many years I started again after I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease 4 years ago. One day I was going nuts with boredom in my house cause I had to stop working and went and bought some yarn and hooks and staring crocheting using videos on youtube. It makes me feel much better and relaxed. It also gives me lots of joy when I can finish something and give it away. Thanks
I love you Mikey I am so glad I found you on TH-cam you reignited my passion for crocheting. I learnt to crochet about 30 odd years ago and then went back to knitting ( I have been knitting for about 50 years) and then I met you I love your passion for crocheting and you have the best sense of humour and you always make me smile. I completely understand how much joy you get from creating something from a simple hook and a ball of yarn and when things aren't going right sometimes, you always have your crocheting to turn to and you on TH-cam I always work with acrylic yarns because our wool industry isn't as caring towards the sheep and I have seen some terrible footage of cruelty and inhumanity towards these wonderful animals that give us so much that I am unable in good conscience to support and buy wool I look forward to all your videos Thank you for being there and being you Love and best wishes always x x
MISSA FERRES Oh my goodness, you have said almost everything I wanted to! I want to thank you Mikey for being in the Crochet World! Your enthusiasm inspires people (well it does me), your humour makes you human, and your passion shows your creativity! I have learnt from you and for this I am grateful. 🎀🌷🎀🌷🎀
Amen I love it ! I have just begun my little collection of yarns . I’m adding a addition my yarn room is under construction. My husband thinks I’m crazy but he support my yarn shopping because he knows it’s my new happy ! Thank you for inspiring me
Thanks to and other TH-cam crochet lessons, I can say I have mastered crochet. My yarn is also my happiness. Crochet saved my life. I suffer from many disorders, from anxiety to agoraphobia. The need to buy yarn has allowed me to leave my home to go get my fix of yarn that is usua
I'm 9 years late to this video but I just love that you freely use a lot of affordable acrylics as well as the high end stuff. I love that you're not a yarn snob at all. I have a blanket my mother crocheted for me when I was 8 years old, and she only used Red Heart Super Saver -- I still have it to this day 40 years later and it's so damn soft. Thanks for sharing your yarn organization. It's a beautiful collection!
Hi Mikey - thank you so much for putting into words exactly how I feel about crochet and knitting. You are so right, and do you know what, nobody gets it if they don't crochet or knit. I get so much pleasure buying yarn, finding bargains and learning new stitches. I could go on but I think I'm gushing a bit!I just wanted to say thank you for being the one who passed it all onto me x
Stash? You have a WAREHOUSE! And it's AWESOME! Knitting are mantras. The way I see it they're the physical manifestation of a mantra. A pattern that we repeat until we form something pretty and it's very soothing, relaxing it's a form of meditation. There's a lot of goodness in knitting in all its forms and you put a part of yourself in every completed piece. It also brings us a bit closer to the old ways.
Oh yes knitting and crochet are very stress free and helps relax the mind and body of everyday problems and thoughts..... It's a big get away relief space... If more people will go to crochet or knitting we will have a stress free world!
i agree with you about yarn not being just yarn.to me it's my stress reliever since i lost my husband 6 years ago. my wish is one day to have a yarn haven as you do. God bless you and Daniel and thank you for all you do to make my days easier to get through.
ME TOO....Yarn shopping makes me very happy....My crochet & knitting give me pleasure & fulfills my creativity... Love 2 make projects 4 friends & family.. Their appreciation fills my giving character. Thank you, Micky 4 sharing ur talent...🌻🌻
Hi Mikey, Thank you for sharing your love for the art of crocheting. I have been crocheting since I was about 14. I am now 53, and the love for the art of crocheting has grown, especially over the last year or so. I absolutely love your tutorials and love your style of teaching. You have a wonderful gift and I am so grateful that you have shared it with us. It's funny......my husband goes crazy with all the yarn I have in our in-law apartment (it's organized, not just thrown into a huge pile, lol), but over the last ten years he has learned to adjust, lol. Again, thank you for everything!!!!!!!
I have Aspergers Syndrome and was diagnosed last April. I started knitting last year for something quiet to do. I found out that it helped calm me doing during an anxiety attack or when I'm bored or depressed. I recently started learning how to make my own! Yarn =life!
Mikey, my name is Sandy and I deal with bi-polar type 1 and rapid cycle into type 2. I use crochet as a way to help with the constant mind noise... I deal with negative thoughts all day every day. Learning a new stitch is my way to help with those "voices" that bombard me. I have to count my stitches and that helps me to focus. Watching your videos on the different styles of crocheting has calmed my mind on many occasions and for that I want to say thank you. I would love to have the yarn you have in this video but I would not have the room... BUT I LOVE YOUR BALLS... LOL... anyway thank you for sharing your gift as a teacher and a fellow crocheter... love ya
I’m bipolar rapid cycling from 1 to 2 as well. I also crochet every minute of the day that I can. I can relate to you so much!! Keep hooking girl!! 💚😊💚😊
You brought ME happiness! Loved this video!! :-) I had carpal tunnel surgery at the beginning of this year (2013) and am looking forward to knitting again after 20 years of not being able to! I'm just so busy with my organic garden in what little free time I have when not working my full-time job and tending to family matters. It'll be like starting all over! Wishing you happiness always Mikey!
lovely video Mikey. i so agree with you.to me yarn is so much a stress buster.just looking at the colours and feel of yarn picks me up anytime.love the collection
I loved what you said about why yarn is so important in your life. To be able to knit and crochet has been my saving grace through my life. I love your organization, and I love to see all the "balls" of yarn you have!!! We all have so much, we could all open a store!
Yarn and fiber brings me peace as well! It's a source of constants in an ever changing world, yet flexible enough to allow for evolution. I usually have tons of yarn, cotton, and threads, but we are at a point of waiting for a move to take place, so my yarns are kept at a minimum due to space, threads don't take up too much space, so I still have quite a bit of that! I can't wait to get settled in a place so that I can create my own "yarn wall" again! It's so soothing in that "peaceful" place!
You're simply amazing. Thank you for everything you do for us all. I started crocheting for the same reasons and having yarn makes me happy as well xxxxx
Hi Mikey, just finished watching your video about your yarn collection. I love to crochet and then I always give my projects away. This brings me joy to see someone smile at the gift of an afghan I made for them it warms my heart that my work will keep them warm and maybe when they think about me it will put a smile on their face. Thanks for sharing your video I always enjoy watching you and learning new stitches.
I understand how you feel. Yarn makes me happy too. I don't have as much as u do. As a matter of a fact I just start collecting yarn but when I crochet I feel happy and creative. I crochet everyday even if it is something simple
Mikey you are a hoot love watching you create I like you find that when I get stressed out I turn to my crochet and I am always stressed my husband says cause he sees me crocheting all the time but I just tell him that when I crochet I am in my quite zone and he says he loves that . So just keep on keeping on and share that smile with your work thanks again.
Mikey i adore you! You made learning to crochet through youtube so easy! I use it as a way to relieve my stress and i appreciate that you take time in videos to go okay learn from my mistake before and stuff!
I don't think you could have put it any better. My yarn collection is in 8 large plastic tubs in my bedroom. Nothing gives me more pleasure then perusing all my beautiful yarns after a lousy day!!! Thanks Mikey!
I love me some you, Mikey! You have the best description of what crocheting and yarn love means to those of us who dig it! What a therapeutic and instant gratifying tool. God bless you!
Mikey I love you and the videos you do. I learned to crochet thanks to you. I had recieved yarn that belonged to my Nana. Your videos are the easiest to understand. Keep up the great work.
My happiness to Mikey....nothing to be ashamed about. Crocheting gave me purpose when a bad surgery left me jobless. Now God has allowed me to do a prayer shawl ministry and it is very meaningful for me. So that said thank you for helping me with your tutorials, they rock and so do you. God Bless you!!!! Linda
Crocheting is sometimes emotional for me, happy & sometimes sad. Happy thinking about what I'm creating and the person I'm 'creating it for. Sad sometimes thinking of my Grandma Dora who gave me the gift of crocheting. Many warm memories. I thank God for Grandma teaching me how to crochet when I was a little girl (I'm 60 now). Grandma used to have so much fun when she would “frog” my work. To this day I really don't mind “frogging” my work if I have to (: Thank you for letting me share.
So this video is nine yrs old n i have noticed that you still have so much careing/humorous personality n great ideas too. You make the art of crochet much more creative for me❣ im just getting started with my stash/balls, hehe!
Mikey, I understand COMPLETELY how doing & having what you love makes you happy! As long as it doesn't create a serious problem in our lives, I think having an abundant collection of yarn & knitting /crocheting is not only harmless fun, but actually GOOD for us. Thanks for sharing your passion.
Hey Mikey, I just started crocheting about nine months ago. I have been on disability for chronic pain since November 2012 and it has become therapy for me. I'm now trying to decide how to organize and store my yarn and accessories. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Mikey you are an inspiration to all. I started crocheting as a kid and thought I knew how but you have taught me a lot since I found you on TH-cam. That is awesome, keep going--one day at a time and one stitch at a time! CONGRATULATIONS!

YES - my yarn makes me happy! It has taken me a few years, though, to stop being such a perfectionist that I can't give my work away....
I love your giggle!

Crochet is an amazing way to center yourself, clear your mind, to put all your love into it.
This just came up on my suggestions, and I already know I love you!
You are a joy. I love your videos and ideas. Thank you for inviting me into your yarn Nirvana. A tour of such a well stocked haven was a real treat.

I'm dead envious right now! :D
And thank you for sharing your emotions and philosophy with us!
***You are the best!Thank you for all your generous time in sharing your skill.****
Thanks for sharing. I never thought of sorting my yarn by maker; when I think about it though it makes perfect sense.
Mikey you are hysterical. I totally agree. My yarn is my passion. Thank you for all you ❤️ do
I love you!! You taught me not only how to crochet but also how to make so many wonderful things. Your videos make me happy and your a wonderful person and teacher!
Creativity in general makes me happy. I draw, paint and wood burn too. I’m a jack of different arts and crafts and I love them all.
I know how you feel... i take care of BOTH of my elderly parents and crocheting is my only outlet..... love ya..... thanks so much for your hard work
Thank you Mikey for creating this channel. I've learn so much in my own time, you make the instructions so easy to understand★
Thanks
I just can say OMG I would like to live sorrouded all that yarn!!! I think it's so great...
I agree with you crochet gives you a peaceful mind away from daily worries
I love you Mikey I am so glad I found you on TH-cam you reignited my passion for crocheting. I learnt to crochet about 30 odd years ago and then went back to knitting ( I have been knitting for about 50 years) and then I met you
I love your passion for crocheting and you have the best sense of humour and you always make me smile. I completely understand how much joy you get from creating something from a simple hook and a ball of yarn and when things aren't going right sometimes, you always have your crocheting to turn to and you on TH-cam
I always work with acrylic yarns because our wool industry isn't as caring towards the sheep and I have seen some terrible footage of cruelty and inhumanity towards these wonderful animals that give us so much that I am unable in good conscience to support and buy wool
I look forward to all your videos Thank you for being there and being you Love and best wishes always x x
MISSA FERRES
Oh my goodness, you have said almost everything I wanted to! I want to thank you Mikey for being in the Crochet World! Your enthusiasm inspires people (well it does me), your humour makes you human, and your passion shows your creativity! I have learnt from you and for this I am grateful. 🎀🌷🎀🌷🎀
💟🐑
I agree that crocheting is therapeutic and relaxing. You can never have too much yarn.
I'm drooling!!! Over your yarn collection, that is! You have the cutest laugh. Love your tutorials and thank you for being here.
I love your laugh, your honesty, & new ideas for storing yarn.
Your words touched my heart, my happiness in crocheted yarn balls, I do not have a lot but I like what I have.
LOL... anyway thank you for sharing your gift as a teacher and a fellow crocheter... love ya
Sandy Giles I’m bipolar mixed and I have many creative outlets that help.
Well said, you made me realise that wool is my is my happiness too. I get sick of people telling me I have too much
I loved what you said about why yarn is so important in your life.
I knit and crochet and I really joy it because it help me with my stress and I love to see my final project turn out beautifully.
YOU are absolutely adorable. Thank you for the great ideas. Love your humor. Have a wonderful day
I love collecting yarn and fabric. That's what makes me happy. :)
Thank you for stating the yarn makes you happy. I have yarn overload. 4 wiremesh organizers filled and tons more.
I love how many times you said "balls". I love your videos and I love that others share my passion. Thanks for all you do.
Mikey i adore you! You made learning to crochet through youtube so easy! I use it as a way to relieve my stress and i appreciate that you take time in videos to go okay learn from my mistake before and stuff!
Love you Mikey!!!! So got back into crocheting and I feel so creative even with simple stitches!! It's so fun!!!
WOW,you are in yarns heaven.That's a lot of balls.TFS
Aww mikey you are amazing and I love the way you organized everything! !
You took the words right outta my mouth. Yarn is my joy too. Even if I don’t use it. Love it.
I don't think you could have put it any better. My yarn collection is in 8 large plastic tubs in my bedroom. Nothing gives me more pleasure then perusing all my beautiful yarns after a lousy day!!! Thanks Mikey!
LOVE you Mikey!! (And Diva Dan) Yes, there are many of us that find our Happiness in yarn.. Sending you a BIG hug from California
Linda
I am totally in love with all those balls in different sizes and colors. 😀💕
To this day I really don't mind “frogging” my work
if I have to (: Thank you for letting me share.
You're so comical Mikey. What a great sense of humor!
I so agree with your thought process on why people crochet I do it for fun and to keep my mind busy keep up the great job
LOVE LOVE LOVE when you talk to us just being you, love it
Great suggestion on organization, Mikey. I am going to do by brand and the unique finish yarns. Happy!
