I saw the trailer for this and immediately thought NOPE but you might’ve changed my mind a little bit now! ♥️

i think the film will be magnificent in aesthetics but some of the characters seem different to the book (if I can even say that from only seeing a few trailers) 💕

I've always meant to read Alasdair Gray, will need to bump him up the list. It's been years since I've made macaroon - I'm lazy and just buy it now 😂

I'd forgotten how delicious it was! And sweet. So sweet 😸 I really want to read more of his books, they're all just so wild! 💕

I saw the film then watched your video. As a fan of Scotland, I was surprised to hear that the book starts out in Glasgow. The movie's home base is London. SIGH. Not sure why the location was changed. It is however, a steampunk movie. Was the book steampunk? I'm interested in reading the book now after hearing your review. I thought the movie was a visual feast, but it's not one I have a desire to rewatch.

A Visual Feast sound like a truly wonderful experience! The University of Glasgow is stunning and it feels so strange not to include it but maybe it worked with the steampunk vibes the film wanted. The book wasn't steampunk though, just whimsical and bizarre 💕

I agree. I wouldn't want to watch it with my family. Maybe the book contains more message

I get queasy very easily and didn't notice a lot of ick in the book, things happened but we didn't get detail or descriptions. That makes me even more intrigued by the film adaptation! But also not because I don't want to watch gross bits 😸💕

@@KapowskiReads it was more of the fact it was a baby's brain inside a womans body but having lots of sex, so really it was a baby having sex that bothered me. and the fact nobody ever acknowledged that 🫣 but most people that have seen the film dont seem to care about that so im kinda over it haha, i enjoyed it overall

@ConnorStompanato yeah that is definitely icky! If it helps at all, the book does mention how her brain is developing and her mental age is growing quickly. But definitely an ick!
