This is a new series I am starting now that we are cruising full-time. These "A Boaters Guide" will be How To/Reviews of transient slips, public docks and moorings and guest anchorages.
I found the process of arriving to Marina del Rey and paying confusing so I decided to start this series to try and make it easier for others who get a slip here to understand the process.

Well done! I lease a mooring in Cat Harbor MV “ANGELA B” I waved a hello to you about a month ago. My boat is currently at Channel Islands Harbor we’ll be heading back to Cat early August, but now may stop in MDR for a few just to get familiar. Thanks for the information. I love the Trader Joe’s with a dinghy dock, got to check that out! If you see “ANGELA B” at Cat say hello. I might be able to help you with some transport to the isthmus if you have a heavy load laundry or Jerry cans and such. I have access to a vehicle.

Thanks James. Good to know about the facilities and area - TJoes and West Marine, Wow. I am actually glad that I didn't know about it last month as I might have opted for it instead of anchoring off Malibu's pier when enroute from Catalina to Santa Barbara and Morro Bay. The anchorage was a bit rolly due to a very small south west swell, but a cool experience none the less. Are you heading to Mex in November?

Very good and informative video. Thank you. By the way, my father had his Ericsson 25+ docked in front of the old Moose’s restaurant. Sold the boat in 2005.
Great information. I sailed down from Moss, currently at Channel Islands. This would have been a great addition to Charlie's Charts. Hopefully when I head South you'll have more SoCal marinas in your playlist.

I had a slip at mdr boatyard for two years. Great folks. I never had to do any work there, but the consensus from everyone I talked to was that they were not cheap, but they did good work.

Both marinas look like ghost towns, no one else to be seen. Strange...
You should do a book for all the marinas in California that would be a seller
Enjoyed the video. On your outboard motor check the pickup hose inside the external fuel tank. It was rather loosely installed on mine causing an air leak. The engine would run until it sucked air and then quit. Very frustrating until I found it. Good luck. Lee

Fond memories of Marina del Rey and overlooking that marina - I spent the first four nights of my honeymoon there before heading off to Tahiti.
