Russianbear Unless you can surprise attack the B-11 in the Hydra. Although sometimes against pilots that are not as good I can use a Lazer and kill them. But that’s very situational. I mostly use my Ruiner 2000 to take these things out cause there slow, when they dive bomb and pull out of the dive I shoot them. Works every time.
If it didnt take me hours of server hopping to find somone to dogfight the b11 would be a very useful jet but currently all i see in freemode sessions is mosquito mk2's
Don forget the jet griefers that panic the moment they encounter anyone able to fight back and instantly eject, I swear they pick on low levels so much that the moment someone comes after them with a jet or explosive sniper they panic so hard
And some people just enjoying flying around while others think gta v is Tom clancys HAWX...... Play Tom clancy if you wanna dodge fight tho. Gta mechanics are way to unrealistic for a good fight.

I’m not even good at dogfighting and I’ve only lost to a deluxo while in the b-11. I shot down multiple hydras, lazers, and even pyros. This is my favorite vehicle in the game and it’s one of the few things I don’t regret buying in the game.
We should all be LIVING LIKE LARRY Most of the jet pilots I faced were average pilots, those of just try to get behind you by circling around. But there was this lazer pilot who was barely moving, almost stalling in the air, who I beat easily. I’ve seen good pilots use that tactic. And the pyro pilots idk I shot them down as we were flying towards each other.
If you saw the damage analysis, I seriously doubt a good pyro pilot could kill this thing either. You'd have to be following someone and consistently getting hits for probably 20 minutes. And in that time they can go faster at high altitude, aren't trapped by homing missiles because of chaff, and can disable you with one lucky cannon burst. It's even foreseeable, that with all it's missile resistance, a damaged b-11 could go straight into a hanger in one piece. Unless someone really likes drawn out fights, I don't see anyone trying to kill this with a pyro, which then makes this plane significantly more maneuverable than its viable counters.

This relates to the render issues you described. This means that in my opinion, it needs a higher fire rate so you can dish out the damage that is required to make a decent impact.
I was waiting for this lol. Your guides have much more depth than the others. You develop all these strategies for vehicles that aren't very strong, but somehow find a way to make them fun and enjoyable. Instant like 👍

ajbarnes777 keep in mind the fact that its “armor” is completely negated if it takes an explosive to its rear; it’ll blast off both rudders and the tailfins, putting you into an inescapable spiral, and if that’s somehow not enough to finish you off, both engines will eventually die from the splash damage overlapping both engines’ hitboxes

I've found that the barrage is much more satisfying (and easy) then using the cannon and I find it easier to dive bomb with than the rogue overall I feel like it's very well balanced but if you have skill its very good great job ghillie
because out of all the other gta youtubers ghillie ACTUALLY tests the planes in a consistant manner, looking at every aspect of them and performing actual tests using numbers and times. looking at you pyrerealm gaming and your "it feels like it handles pretty good/bad" style of testing.
though i wish it would have included a proper gun vs armored vehicle test. theres so much out there done wrong, but because he didnt want to beat a dead horse he didnt test it. probably the only reliable source we could hope to get on exactly how good the gun is vs vehicles (with a person inside) its such a shame he didn't bother.

Huh, I feel it needs a missile range buff, maybe that'd make using them more viable. I love the barrage missiles, feel the armor is nigh perfect, just wish its tail took another missile or something. I wish you could manage your speed so you can go faster whilst lower and vice versa. I'd like it to be a little faster in general, and I won't even bother you bout the cannon. I'm not sure. It seems to be intentionally done this way. This plane gains a lot of speed at a very specific point. While most planes just gradually get faster as you get higher in the air. Ghillie isn't wrong when he says this is the most complex vehicle in the game.
Gun sucks in comparison to any weapon in the game; not just the Lazer/Hydra cannon. You want to talk about a dead horse - the whole "meme cannon" thing is as dead as it gets. It is a good plane though. Tough, and will beat other planes in a dogfight most of the time. I don't appreciate the sudden and unevenly applied nerfs on stuff though. It reminds me of the handling flags on cars. Like, if the other older vehicles are going to be powerful, don't limit the ammo on this and nerf the gun.
I agree with you about killing people on foot (sure, it is meme terrible). Gun is very good at destroying armored and normal vehicles, on ground and in the air. If you ignore the lazer and hydra cannon, this plane has the best explosive MG to deal with other vehicles.
All it needs is just a bit faster fire-rate thats all. U can clearly see in ghillie's video that B-11's cannon misses some shots even when the target reticule is directly on the enemy aircraft... That would never happen in a lazer/hydra, Thats what really frustrating about B-11 and a bit of fire-rate increase would totally fix it and even make it easier to kill on-foot targets.

Great review although, the armor in dogfights or air period is not actually cut and dry. It takes just three rockets usually to render the planes controls useless. Then the next 2 or three to blow it up. Same with bullets when you take half the armor max damage it's useless for fighting nearly. The extra armor in the air is either just bugged which I personally doubt, or it is there so you have time to bail out and not die with your plane which, in an mc club, bail and quickly return to storage 😂
Also, you forgot to mention the B-11 has bleeding damage when it comes to the engines. If one side is hit and smokes badly, the other side will as well.

I love that you pointed out the render distance problem. It’s also a huge issue when trying to drop bombs. Personally the B-11 is my new favorite plane, and the only dogfight I have lost in it was against another B-11. It’s even great at taking out deluxos with the missile barrage.

I played with the B11 Strikeforce a lot yesterday learning almost everything about. Although you mentioned some things I never noticed so I will definitely have to put it through some even more extensive testing but thanks man!
I just noticed this, but the speed difference in altitudes are true for many (possibly all) other planes. Try it in a hydra or lazer. PS: I based my "speed" on the "air speed" meter inside the planes. Most planes fly around 140 kts (i think it's kts) when close to the ground and close to 180 when high up
The explosive test is HIGHLY misleading. While the plane itself can take up to 5 Explosive Sniper shots, or 6 Homing Missiles, or 2 RPGs, one well placed shot is all it takes to down it. The rudders on the plane are extremely fragile and will fall off with one shot, and hitting the tail can cause the plane to lose nearly all control. Even one glancing hit on the wing can be enough to render it unfit for dogfighting, or worse, easy pickings. While explosives might not kill it right away, it can disable the aircraft, which is almost as good as killing it.
Yeah, and a lot of the people saying this plane is "balanced" because of it's armor don't seem to acknowledge that. It's more fragile than the Rogue, which isn't exactly sturdy itself.
Most people don’t take into account that most rockets that get shot at you will hate you in the tail, I have seen only but one TH-camr who has actually tested this planes strength when it comes to getting hit in the rear end
This was good as i have been someone who will discurage people from buying it but i see that i have to give some props for it being a dog fighter(strangely enough) ty for your guide and enlightening me on it.
Honestly, your assessment of the aircraft pretty much matches up with mine. In addition, I've had no trouble killing ground targets with the weaponry available on the B-11. If anything, I'm sick of hearing people complain about it and asking for a rebalance. It works fine. If you can't fly it, fly something else.
The control surfaces on this plane are too fragile. A single missile or explosive round will often blow apart the tail and send it into a spiral. And one thing I noticed about the engines: if one starts smoking, eventually the other will too, and then the plane is doomed. So the armor and separate engine hitboxes aren't really much help. I really want to like this thing, but there's so much wrong with it. If I want a plane for air-to-air there's the Pyro or Starling. I don't get why Rockstar made the A-10 just another generic dogfighter. Even the Starling is better for attacking ground tagets with it's bombs and free-aimed rockets. At least the Starling won't ragdoll people instead of killing them.
Wow really helped me decide for a jet. I guess this is my best choice since I really love the design of this one and the fact that carries many types of explosives makes me even more excited to get it
greenthunder1000 Clearly you're not using the plane right. I took out a Khanjali with ease using the Barrage dive method. The dive is so short because of the rapid fire, the tank stood no chance as I was shooting from ~2,000ft
using the bumpers along with the joystick to turn will drastically increase the turning radius to compete with a starling, therefore it can easily outturn a laser 😁
The thing about the armor is that although it's definitely real tough and can survive a lot, in practice one good explosion entirely disables it. One bad explosion just ruins one of your engines, practically disabling it, but not really. The good thing is that you have more than enough time to bail out and you don't have to worry about it exploding when you do, but it just ultimately makes it a really high risk high reward plane to use, considering its amazing dogfighting abilities. I don't really mind that too much though. It makes it fun to use knowing you could be out in one hit.
I LOVE this plane! I rarely use anything but barrage and MG. The bombs take some getting used to but easily mastered if taken enough time to use it. I use this plane for everything. I run every hanger crate mission with it without issues. The same is true for dogfighting, vip missions, and killing tryhards that constantly try to blow up my crates. This plane is amazing! Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

I was waiting for your review of the plane. Your info is much more accurate and explains better what’s going on with the dynamics of the game rather than just observation which only gives part of the perspective. It’s important to note though that it has tough armor that the control surfaces on the wings and tail are not armored and can lose functionality with just one rocket. If I had to guess at R*s overall intentions I would say they wanted to make it tough enough to take a hit so that players couldn’t boast a kill but not so tough that it becomes the new OP greifer tool in the game. You actually have to use skill to make this plane useful and most tryhards don’t care about skill. They just want OP weapons so they can go around and get kills and that’s really NOT what the B-11 is
You turn First Person Vehicle Hood on in the settings section (I think it’s the camera part of settings?). Anyway when you turn it on just go in first person when flying and you will see like that
So this plane has had more balancing done to it than any vehicle released since the first DLC combined. At least we know where the line goes for Rockstar.
This plane's missiles are actually not the "bad" missiles that most of the other aircraft have. It is the same tier missiles as the homing launcher, hunter/akula, and the oppressor. While not perfect like the "ruiner" tier missiles, these will still track targets fairly well.
A very nice detail is tha the A-10 have an independent system for eatch engine, so they can fly back enven with serius damage, maybe rockstar knew this while making the B-11, very nice detail
I’ve had the Strikeforce for about a couple years and I can say for certain that altitude is your best friend in a dogfight, it’s just to slow and sluggish at low altitudes.
MY OPINION They should remove homing rockets on the b11 all together. Keep the rocket barrage and armor and flares. Bombs? I could go either way. The b11 cannon should be that of the hydra and lazer. Make it a ground specific aircraft. Oh and keep the sound the cannon makes. That’s SUPPOSED to be the best part of the plane but is rather the most disappointing. (Everyone saying it’ll be unbalanced) Gta online has become so unbearably unbalanced already it’s painful. Rockstar doesn’t care enough to change it already, so making these changes wouldn’t ruin anything. There will forever be tryhards. Just find a new lobby with a lower player count. It’s not that hard. You are putting yourself through those toxic try hard lobbies. AGAIN, JUST MY OPINION. (Leave yours in response, id love to have a discussion :D )

Just as an FYI: If you shoot the tail of the B-11 with an explosive sniper rifle you will be able to down it super easily. It will end up plummeting into the ground almost every single time as the tail wings just end up falling off. I've managed to do this a few times on passing B-11s as they leave the tail super vulnerable when they miss a barrage.
MillionCosmic Burgers I completely agree with you, but knowing Rockstar they want to try and limit the amount of OP vehicles. By removing barrage and increasing rate of fire then it keeps it balanced
I posted this on Helisexual's video earlier but I think it holds true here too. I think if the cannons on the Strikeforce and the Hydra/Laser were swapped, and the Laser/Hydra got buffs to their turning radius, it'd be perfect. The tanky nature of the B-11 implies it was supposed to see a lot of return fire from the ground, and would need to high-wake it out of there by gaining altitude once the dogfighters responded. It'd be an interesting mechanic if(assuming this isn't the case already) the B-11 would be faster than the Hydra/Laser at altitude for escapes, making the pilot decide if they want to engage at low altitude in hopes of tagging a fast mover with their cannon, or climb and zip out of there once they're done fucking up a ground target.
Man cant wait to watch your video fully later on (at work now). One thing though: I think the missiles are better than normal airvehicle missiles. Somebody said Oppressors, Im not sure but I feel like they track very good. This would make sense with the 30 limit as well
The Ultralight has a speed boost too, as far as I know. I once got it to fly around the whole map in less than 20 seconds. It may have been a glitch though.
This is a try hard sanctuary because it takes 3 homing shots to disable its flight capabilities, and then another 2-3 shots to blow it up, they can EWO in that timeframe
The extra speed is for transport as you will not be bombing someone at that height. The reason it is so slow at low altitudes is because it is easier to bomb someone when it is slower.
I feel that the reason most people hate on this is because people where expecting a ground support plane when they introduced the Strikeforce. I mean that IS what the A-10 Warthog is for. Not dog fighting. The A-10 has a minigun with a 10 foot barrel (Goes along nearly the entire underside of the plane) and pretty much peppers the ground with tank shells.

All planes move more quickly at higher altitude. This isn't a new thing. It's just much more stated on this aircraft.
The speed increase begins around 900ft to 1000ft.

I'm not sure. It seems to be intentionally done this way. This plane gains a lot of speed at a very specific point. While most planes just gradually get faster as you get higher in the air. Ghillie isn't wrong when he says this is the most complex vehicle in the game.

Gun sucks in comparison to any weapon in the game; not just the Lazer/Hydra cannon. You want to talk about a dead horse - the whole "meme cannon" thing is as dead as it gets.
It is a good plane though. Tough, and will beat other planes in a dogfight most of the time.
I don't appreciate the sudden and unevenly applied nerfs on stuff though. It reminds me of the handling flags on cars. Like, if the other older vehicles are going to be powerful, don't limit the ammo on this and nerf the gun.

Gun is very good at destroying armored and normal vehicles, on ground and in the air. If you ignore the lazer and hydra cannon, this plane has the best explosive MG to deal with other vehicles.
All it needs is just a bit faster fire-rate thats all. U can clearly see in ghillie's video that B-11's cannon misses some shots even when the target reticule is directly on the enemy aircraft... That would never happen in a lazer/hydra, Thats what really frustrating about B-11 and a bit of fire-rate increase would totally fix it and even make it easier to kill on-foot targets.

Great review although, the armor in dogfights or air period is not actually cut and dry. It takes just three rockets usually to render the planes controls useless. Then the next 2 or three to blow it up. Same with bullets when you take half the armor max damage it's useless for fighting nearly. The extra armor in the air is either just bugged which I personally doubt, or it is there so you have time to bail out and not die with your plane which, in an mc club, bail and quickly return to storage 😂

I love that you pointed out the render distance problem. It’s also a huge issue when trying to drop bombs. Personally the B-11 is my new favorite plane, and the only dogfight I have lost in it was against another B-11. It’s even great at taking out deluxos with the missile barrage.

I played with the B11 Strikeforce a lot yesterday learning almost everything about. Although you mentioned some things I never noticed so I will definitely have to put it through some even more extensive testing but thanks man!

I just noticed this, but the speed difference in altitudes are true for many (possibly all) other planes. Try it in a hydra or lazer.
PS: I based my "speed" on the "air speed" meter inside the planes. Most planes fly around 140 kts (i think it's kts) when close to the ground and close to 180 when high up
The explosive test is HIGHLY misleading. While the plane itself can take up to 5 Explosive Sniper shots, or 6 Homing Missiles, or 2 RPGs, one well placed shot is all it takes to down it. The rudders on the plane are extremely fragile and will fall off with one shot, and hitting the tail can cause the plane to lose nearly all control. Even one glancing hit on the wing can be enough to render it unfit for dogfighting, or worse, easy pickings. While explosives might not kill it right away, it can disable the aircraft, which is almost as good as killing it.
Yeah its like when you get hit from the back the plane like spins out of a control and you have no control of it. You're forced to bail out.
Yeah, and a lot of the people saying this plane is "balanced" because of it's armor don't seem to acknowledge that. It's more fragile than the Rogue, which isn't exactly sturdy itself.

This was good as i have been someone who will discurage people from buying it but i see that i have to give some props for it being a dog fighter(strangely enough) ty for your guide and enlightening me on it.

Honestly, your assessment of the aircraft pretty much matches up with mine. In addition, I've had no trouble killing ground targets with the weaponry available on the B-11. If anything, I'm sick of hearing people complain about it and asking for a rebalance. It works fine. If you can't fly it, fly something else.
The control surfaces on this plane are too fragile. A single missile or explosive round will often blow apart the tail and send it into a spiral.
And one thing I noticed about the engines: if one starts smoking, eventually the other will too, and then the plane is doomed. So the armor and separate engine hitboxes aren't really much help.
I really want to like this thing, but there's so much wrong with it. If I want a plane for air-to-air there's the Pyro or Starling. I don't get why Rockstar made the A-10 just another generic dogfighter. Even the Starling is better for attacking ground tagets with it's bombs and free-aimed rockets. At least the Starling won't ragdoll people instead of killing them.
Wow really helped me decide for a jet. I guess this is my best choice since I really love the design of this one and the fact that carries many types of explosives makes me even more excited to get it

greenthunder1000 Clearly you're not using the plane right. I took out a Khanjali with ease using the Barrage dive method. The dive is so short because of the rapid fire, the tank stood no chance as I was shooting from ~2,000ft
using the bumpers along with the joystick to turn will drastically increase the turning radius to compete with a starling, therefore it can easily outturn a laser 😁

The thing about the armor is that although it's definitely real tough and can survive a lot, in practice one good explosion entirely disables it. One bad explosion just ruins one of your engines, practically disabling it, but not really. The good thing is that you have more than enough time to bail out and you don't have to worry about it exploding when you do, but it just ultimately makes it a really high risk high reward plane to use, considering its amazing dogfighting abilities. I don't really mind that too much though. It makes it fun to use knowing you could be out in one hit.

I LOVE this plane! I rarely use anything but barrage and MG. The bombs take some getting used to but easily mastered if taken enough time to use it. I use this plane for everything. I run every hanger crate mission with it without issues. The same is true for dogfighting, vip missions, and killing tryhards that constantly try to blow up my crates. This plane is amazing! Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Your info is much more accurate and explains better what’s going on with the dynamics of the game rather than just observation which only gives part of the perspective.
It’s important to note though that it has tough armor that the control surfaces on the wings and tail are not armored and can lose functionality with just one rocket.
If I had to guess at R*s overall intentions I would say they wanted to make it tough enough to take a hit so that players couldn’t boast a kill but not so tough that it becomes the new OP greifer tool in the game.
You actually have to use skill to make this plane useful and most tryhards don’t care about skill.
They just want OP weapons so they can go around and get kills and that’s really NOT what the B-11 is

You turn First Person Vehicle Hood on in the settings section (I think it’s the camera part of settings?). Anyway when you turn it on just go in first person when flying and you will see like that

So this plane has had more balancing done to it than any vehicle released since the first DLC combined. At least we know where the line goes for Rockstar.

This plane's missiles are actually not the "bad" missiles that most of the other aircraft have. It is the same tier missiles as the homing launcher, hunter/akula, and the oppressor. While not perfect like the "ruiner" tier missiles, these will still track targets fairly well.
1:17 how do you go into that first person mode?
In settings u have by camers first person vehicle hood, put that on and in a vehicle u see from the hood instead of in the car or cockpit
R3/right analog down, INSERT on PC, you can also make it the standart first person on the camera menu
A very nice detail is tha the A-10 have an independent system for eatch engine, so they can fly back enven with serius damage, maybe rockstar knew this while making the B-11, very nice detail

I’ve had the Strikeforce for about a couple years and I can say for certain that altitude is your best friend in a dogfight, it’s just to slow and sluggish at low altitudes.

They should remove homing rockets on the b11 all together. Keep the rocket barrage and armor and flares. Bombs? I could go either way. The b11 cannon should be that of the hydra and lazer. Make it a ground specific aircraft. Oh and keep the sound the cannon makes. That’s SUPPOSED to be the best part of the plane but is rather the most disappointing.

My life is a lie I disagree. The plane it is based off is a close quarters ground support aircraft. I want it to be true to its real life counterpart or more close to it. Secondly, all the changes I stated in my original comment would not make it not a good dogfight aircraft. Quite the contrary, upgrading the cannon would make it better in dogfight combat. Just as an FYI: If you shoot the tail of the B-11 with an explosive sniper rifle you will be able to down it super easily. It will end up plummeting into the ground almost every single time as the tail wings just end up falling off. I've managed to do this a few times on passing B-11s as they leave the tail super vulnerable when they miss a barrage.
Can confirm the render distance is also an issue on PC, I pretty much play on max settings and player models render in super late

I posted this on Helisexual's video earlier but I think it holds true here too. I think if the cannons on the Strikeforce and the Hydra/Laser were swapped, and the Laser/Hydra got buffs to their turning radius, it'd be perfect. The tanky nature of the B-11 implies it was supposed to see a lot of return fire from the ground, and would need to high-wake it out of there by gaining altitude once the dogfighters responded. It'd be an interesting mechanic if(assuming this isn't the case already) the B-11 would be faster than the Hydra/Laser at altitude for escapes, making the pilot decide if they want to engage at low altitude in hopes of tagging a fast mover with their cannon, or climb and zip out of there once they're done fucking up a ground target.
Man cant wait to watch your video fully later on (at work now). One thing though: I think the missiles are better than normal airvehicle missiles. Somebody said Oppressors, Im not sure but I feel like they track very good. This would make sense with the 30 limit as well

The Ultralight has a speed boost too, as far as I know. I once got it to fly around the whole map in less than 20 seconds. It may have been a glitch though.
This is a try hard sanctuary because it takes 3 homing shots to disable its flight capabilities, and then another 2-3 shots to blow it up, they can EWO in that timeframe

The extra speed is for transport as you will not be bombing someone at that height. The reason it is so slow at low altitudes is because it is easier to bomb someone when it is slower.

I feel that the reason most people hate on this is because people where expecting a ground support plane when they introduced the Strikeforce. I mean that IS what the A-10 Warthog is for. Not dog fighting. The A-10 has a minigun with a 10 foot barrel (Goes along nearly the entire underside of the plane) and pretty much peppers the ground with tank shells.
