    You have inspired me to begin building a layout.
    But the BIGGEST reason I watch your videos is because you are such a happy & cheerful guy! YOUR ARE AWESOME! If I'm having a rough day I just watch one of your videos! And I get to learn something as well! Thank you. 😎

      Hi! Thank you very much! I’m really happy to hear that you like the videos and that it helps you keep the spirit up. We all have those days when we need something to cheer us up. I have many of those as well, especially now during autumn and winter. All the best to you! / Martin

    I live in the Netherlands and fortunately there are still plenty of suppliers here and also retailers who sell the products. I understand that you can't always or don't want to wait for delivery time when stock runs out. But for my 2 layouts that I will start working on in 2024, a 3D printer is too big a purchase for me. Fluids as I call it for a moment are not exactly cheap in the Netherlands.
    Of course, I do enjoy your inventive solutions Martin that you make and or create yourself. We also learn from someone else's mistakes and that keeps it fun and above all instructive.
    The rolling stock is already almost complete, the rails are also waiting. All we need now is an empty room and the necessary building material for the construction.
    Greetings Antwan

    Thanks for all you do for us modellers Martin.
    I also started with Märklin for my 11th birthday in 1970 and will be 64 in a weeks time.
    Congratulations on the Milestone now if I could only afford a new computer and 3d printer etc!
    Greetings from a lovely summers day in New Zealand.

    You mentioned that sea foam is quite fragile and may break. To prevent this and make it more flexible you may immerse the foam over night in glycerine. And if you add some brownish wood glaze (like Xyladecor) the branches will be pre-colored like nature.

    • @mooglesmodelrailways
      @mooglesmodelrailways 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You can also dip the seafoam in liquid latex and leave it to dry. This both strengthens the seafoam and gives it a bit of flexibility. A lot of wargamers make trees this way

    Wow, we've taken a quick look at the catalog. It's a superb, extremely helpful initiative for the hobby. Our felicitations, and what a blessing ❤ We can not 3D-print ourselves but a nearby shop here can. There are indeed many ways for making trees and bushes. E.g., we've been using the dark green material from kitchen sponges as one of the many materials available. A pack of 10 are 0.55 Euro cent per pack at the well known German discount supermarkets, lol. The material can be stretched and formed quite easily and does accept a colour wash. Your ideas are a great addition. Cheerio 🙂

    best wishes for your library of model elements..... I am an Architect and back in 2009 when I started model making, there weren't much informative videos available like we do today.... Luckily I had my seniors who passed down their share of knowledge and the rest i improvised..... Architectural models are different from these realistic moidels that you guys make, and here in India we dont have these products for models available at a reasonable cost (foliage items/turfs/miniature humans, lights,etc....).....But we tried to make use of whatever is available.... I have always used Saw dust for greens....
    Sadly, I had to move back to my hometown of Port Blair, Andaman islands when COVID happened and there's no market for Model making.... when I watch these videos, my hands start to itch and I feel like someone is chopping onions beside me....

    Also the 3-D printing projects is a very useful contribution. Living in Argentina this is extremely helpful. I am into Swiis railways in HO scale. Do you have or plan to have SBB catenary system? Also you mentioned 3D prinying with resin. Do the 3D models print in the other kind of system? Thanks!

    I enjoyed both the bushes and the other video on making trees. I would like to use them in my garden layout to phase out some of the live vegetation since the real shrubs grow and present more maintenance. Would your tree and shrub design be suitable for my outdoor application? Thank you and blessings from Vancouver, Canada.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, it’s not recommended for outdoor application. Paints and materials are not water resistant. Also materials for indoor use has poor UV-resistans

    G'day mate. I'm a regular viewer from Australia and I have just been totally enlighten on the bushes building which has been a real " thorn in my side " . I just keep stuffing them up but now I've seen where I've been going wrong. Great show. Thank you. I'm very keen on the N scale catenary as I'm hoping to build up a Swedish/ German electric railway along with my Australian system all in N scale. What I would like to know is, Is it possible to span a wire along the masts and have it taught without pulling or bending the posts or outrigger's [ wire hangers ]? I would really like to have the pantograph running on a wire for authentication if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thank you Chris! The N-scale catenary using 3D-printed wire hangers in combination to actually powering the train via pantographs is not likely to work. I have assisted in making such installations for H0-gauge and it was a real challenge even using metal masts from Sonnenfeldt. I cannot recommend it. It´s better to have the pantos up halfway and not let it touch the wires.

    I have a ton of lichen growing on the hill behind my house and probably a lifetime supply. I've been using water soluble glycerin to preserve it before painting it with acrylic paints. What would you suggest for preserving it? The glycerin seems to keep it pliable as I've got some in a box I treated years ago and it is still pliable. Just wonder if I'm doing it the correct way. I get all my fiber from old pillows that have gone flat and I paint it green usually. I make all my fine turf out of sponge rubber and my electric coffee grinder and color it with acrylic paints. I use jute instead of hemp for bushes as well as old Scotch Brite pads for hedges.
    I purchased a flashing circuit board that flashes crossbucks with alternating red LED's I mounted in the crossbucks. I need a way to turn the flasher on as a train approaches and turn it off as the train clears the intersection. What would you suggest for accomplishing this task? Reed switches? Or maybe a photo cell? I do have an Arduino and I've seen code to use it to making crossbucks but I already have the flashing circuit powered either by 9 or 5 volts.
    Cheers from an old modeler in eastern Tennessee

      @@marklinofsweden Hi, they've banned my country. All other services are working: PayPal, Visa, etc. I can buy real railway models including digital in any EU model store . The US, the UK and the EU haven't impose any sanctions concerning 3d models or STL files. But the owners of CG Trader think that the dictatorship will fall and world peace will come if I do not have the opportunity to buy those files. Also they've banned Panama for some reason.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This will depend on how you do it and what resins you use. If you follow the instruction provided with each 3D-model the answer is ”forever”. We only had ours for 8 months now, but run enviromental tests and they still keeing their shape.

    Love the idea of the ready to print 3D models. Since we can't downscale, any plans for N-Scale? Particularly the non-rolling stock items. I have tried a some items form Thingiverse and the like, but find the quality very variable. I mostly end up designing my own, but like the idea of ready to print files.

    • @niro017
      @niro017 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually, you can downscale, you may lose some fine detail, that most likely wouldn't print even if the item was designed in N scale. HO to N is 54%, just scale that in your slicer. I scale things smaller than that all the time (as far as 12.5%), and I only have a FDM printer at this time, a resin printer would do better. Give it a shot, you might be surprised.

      Hi Eric, I’m sorry I got you so upset. I cannot recall seeing any messages or questions from you. However, I recieve in average 90-120 comments and questions per 24h, so running this project alone I must admit I cannot cope with that amount of correspondence in parallell with doing videos and taking care of family and friends. Please realize I have 170k subscribers from all over the world and work 12-14h/day 7 days per week trying to keep up. I prioritize my Patrons, business partners and customers for 3D-models. Your comment really made me sad and ruined my good mood getting started with work this morning. I found your question and responded. Fine. Unsubscribe. I’m much better off without people like you.
