What if you were to glue a character's hand to the door so the person's feet were floating over the floor so it would look like he was pushing the door open

for K-track, it is very easy to simply solder wires to rail joiners.

Fully enjoyed this video! Great as always! :) Like idea, that track goes through round turnout (table) and depo sits aside.. Very good for space tight layouts and for future layout extending.. ;) Usually, depo with round table is at the track end..

    Hello
Is the paint you are using water-based?
This is because I hear you talking about propanol which is probably alcohol.
You cannot use this water-based acrylic paint.
When aging the wooden doors you also use propanol, which will probably cause the same problem with water-based acrylic paint.

  • @MissionZ

    Hi there,
this is a great tutorial and it should also enable me to age a building. but how would you do that in a bright building with a smooth facade? aging like this certainly looks different.

I connected the servoes to the track power through a home made controller, so when the track is turned on, then the doors open. No power = no movement = closed doors. :-) (I can turn on/off all 12 tracks in the round house individually)

Looks great! For ideas about the yard layout next to a roundhouse I highly recommend the book "The Model Railroader's Guide to Locomotive Servicing Terminals". It has lots of pictures, layout examples and explanations why and how yards are laid out, and tells the story how yards slowly transformed from the steam to the diesel era, so you can make good decisions about what a yard should look like and what buildings to include if you run steam, diesel or both. www.amazon.com/Railroaders-Locomotive-Servicing-Terminals-English/dp/0890244146

A very detailed Roundhouse and a nice diorama. I am also building a 6 bay roundhouse that is being 3D printed for me. The creator made a mistake on the front walls and doors, he did not allow for the tracks. I think he is redrawing them now, but after seeing this video I saw the doors are shaped to go over the track. I also want to open and close the doors. I will use servos with control via an Arduino board with an Uno 3. I think I will try and cut the door and see if that is ok or not. Many thanks. Martin (Thailand)

Try not to use black, it doesn't really appear naturally try raw umber or a dark brown black is produced when there is a fire. I painted movie sets for 11 years and I watched many times when someone would use to dark of a color for aging and it can make a place look like an transmission shop rest room, to dirty.

marklinofsweden Here in the Netherlands we have a website called Arcomora: www.arcomora.com/ . They sell a cheap Arduino + DCC shield for about €10. This will give you the opportunity to program your servos very easyly and make that time about 9 seconds instead of 1.
No need for programming skills, the interface is easy to use and allows all kind of possibilities. I use it to switch 3 way switches with the cheapest Chinese servos available.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes. These servos operate linear, so the motion can be very slow and very precise.. However.. Then you need a more intelligent driver circuit. If you’re building like a 6-port or larger, it’s probably best to program an Arduino and use a PWM-motor module withit.

One day they pass on and no one knows how to operate the channel to tell you all. I think I will do a pre epitaph if you will thanking you all now so if anything ever happens you will all know why.
