You are very welcome. Snow tires would turn it into a beast, but from what I experienced there simply switching to Fun with all season tires would be sufficient for most instances.

Nearly sharded myself driving to work (i’m in healthcare so i had to be out) friday morning as this thing would let loose on the ice - especially if regen was set medium or high. Recommend, keep it in Earth and low regen on icy roads, Fun and low regen on snow- and drive slow! AWD does not mean shit on ice or when trying to slow down on descents.
I found it on eBay. I am in the United States. It came from Europe.

The upcoming addition of “Smart Traction” will I hope improve its off road ability, as I’m assuming it will be smarter about power distribution rather than just cutting it off at the slightest sign of wheel spin. Plus when the e-Force package is released I hope we all get an Off Road Mode added to the software that allows for smooth control to all 4 wheels and allows some slippage and torque vectoring. Ideally they would implement an e-LSD, using the friction brakes to grab a spinning wheel and force power to the other side - having that on both axles would almost give it independent speed control over all 4 wheels. Even just the ability to turn the traction control off would help in the meantime. When I took mine on slippery mud I was frustrated by the fact it could be great, but right now is hampered by a dumb traction control system.
IMO They should have "Earth mode 4 wheel drive" because you don't really want it to be more punchy in winter just have the 4 wheels. Maybe it will come in the future.
Earth Mode is all about efficiency so I can see why they have it this way. They could do the software where it could kick in the rear wheels with tire spin but a simple press does the trick by activating Fun Mode
That is indeed the noise it makes when backing up. Its an artificial noise to warn people. EVs are required to make noise now at slow speeds. It reminds me of the Millennium Falcon gearing up for hyperspace 😆
Funny thing is, we got the Mazda right before the Ocean. I though it was AWESOME until we started driving the Ocean. Now, it feels like a time warp of at least a decade every time I drive it. The Ocean makes it feel so old.
It should just switch automatically to Allwheel drive when there is not enough traction on the front, like all cars i know do, in all settings. Shourely, most of the time it will be no problem as you can switch before you get where it is slippery, but if you don't know and accelerating on another road and it just slips it's not convenient to have to tab some buttons

Nice job, but I am dismayed that you left the Mazda running for so long. There is no good reason to waste gasoline and pollute our air. Even in the coldest weather, you should warm up any car no more than 15 or 20 seconds before driving, slowly at first.

This!! 100x this! Fun and Hyper are too fast for low traction situations whereas the acceleration lag in Earth is ideal to minimize spin.
