      Didn’t think they went hand and hand. Most old guys at my club swing very slow and are off single digit handicaps. Just because someone has speed doesn’t mean low handicap. He probably can’t do the scoring stuff like chip and putt. Also probably loses 10 balls a round

    • @Pud56
      @Pud56 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CharlotteK2008i am one of your old guys age 67, but i do speed work, stretching and swing plane exercises. If i want to maintain my low single figure handicap, need to hit irons into par 4’s, if I don’t keep the swing speed up, i need fairway wood or perhaps hybrid, reducing my greens in regulation. So unfortunately, yes swing speed reflects in handicap, albeit that you are right, it needs to be coupled with accuracy. I work harder on my fitness than i ever have, it pays dividends on rotation, distance and concentration.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah they don't have to be linked, as you rightly say there are lots of older golfers who don't swing quick but do have good handicaps, but on the whole a graph of all golfers would show swing speed going up as handicap comes down. But golfers like Ash, who have a lot of speed but aren't low handicaps, having that much speed absolutely can certainly hinder scoring. As with that speed being consistently straight is very difficult.

    This was extremely relatable. I am this guy but a little older with a slower swing speed. I started my golf journey with a big driver slice which over the years has become more of a gentle fade. I still fight it, trying to swing more in to out and setting my clubs up for draw bias, all of which just results in big pulls and low snap hooks. I keep aiming right and trying to visualise a draw flight that only occurs once in a blue moon. A good strike ends up fading into the right hand trees, a bad one hooks into the left hand trees. This is not working for me. After watching this video I am going to try setting my clubs for a more neutral bias, aiming slightly left, and allowing for my natural fade. Embrace the fade.

    your club fitting videos are fantastic. I've seen several others and maybe they edit more out of theirs but at face value it really appears that you're not just swapping the main three clubs. Youre changing weights and all kinds of stuff I don't understand on the screen. I'd have to go back through your videos to see if you already have but would you ever consider a tutorial on what all the stats/weights/numbers/etc. all mean when you show the new club you're having them swing and how they would contribute to someone with a harder or softer swing?

    That’s the guy you want leading a fire brigade to break down a door of a burning building with a fire ax. Dude absolutely hammers it! I’d like to see him maybe set the club to ball position on the toe because he goes after it and, from the neutral set up, he’s hitting it off the heel.

    8:00 When the shoulders are coming through but then pause, the club head flips past and shuts down = double cross. Keep everything turning on those fades. The hands are the symptom, not the cause. It's like a car is pulling a skateboarder by a rope and then the car brakes, the skateboarder flies on past. When danger/lake is on the left, I turn the entire body hard and try to outrace the club. While he needed this great fitting, I think a big thing was educating him on ball flight laws. (club face/path/setup). Early in the video he said if he wants to hit a fade he puts the ball back in his stance. (misunderstanding).

    Can't believe he's an 18! Take him in a scramble anytime! I'm a 7 and can't hit it out of my shadow anymore. I sure wish I had that firepower! On the plus side I don't miss many fairways because I can't hit it very far so it doesn't make to the rough!😂

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Your point at the end is exactly correct. The issue with mid to higher handicaps that naturally have power and speed, while still having a slight lack of control over the club, means the miss is so much bigger than someone with less speed. So it's not really an advantage when you are off a higher handicap. As you say, if you miss then it doesn't miss big. If Ash misses then he's taking 3 off the tee, and it doesn't take much for that to happen a few times in a round. That score soon starts racking up! So yeah it's great but can certainly hinder the scorecard a lot too. They really need to put the time in with the driver to learn to control it.

    • @AshKnight
      @AshKnight 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I do love a scramble haha 🤣 HC is down to 16 now, partly due to this session! But Ross is right, if the driver is behaving on the day I can have a brilliant score. If not, I’m losing 3-4 balls off the tee that day 😅

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why not both? Plus I'd argue at the moment for Ash this is more important, as he can't get off the tee consistently without missing quite a lot of the time, and with his speed the miss is generally then hitting 3 off the tee. And if you can't get off the tee then you can't score. So getting this dialled and improved is super important. But this lesson has seemed to help him massively from his feedback so far as this was filmed 3/4 weeks ago....

    • @AshKnight

      I agree to a certain extent, however it's very hard to hit a straight shot every time, especially when you have a reasonable amount of speed. So learning to hit one specific shot off the tee and play that every time is going to be a better bet than always aiming down the middle and hoping you deliver a square path and face to path. That's very hard to do.
