They picked up and carried the ships, because they hadn't invented cradles with wheels (and figured out they could attach harnesses for horses) yet. For a while they got along rolling logs with the ship on top, but that knocked the shit out of the waterproof seams, and the hulls would have to be re-tarred after every short trip. Its called portaging, and you really don't wanna have to do it for anything bigger than a kayak or a canoe, and definitely not for extended distances. Edit: Then in the 19th century they invented/perfected dams, canals, and mechanically controlled floodgates. If you like history, look up how much of a difference the Panama canal made to modern shipping routes. No longer had to go all the way around North America, Central America and South America (or drop the cargo off in the nearest available port, and carry it over land via horse and wagon, and later on, trucks and trains).
Somewhere around 5:30 when they celebrate going to war and there is that Old G in the mix, I can explain that. Back in the day they took old men to their raids and when the battle ensued, they sent the Old G's rush the enemy frontlines and started chanting for them 'cause they were entering Valhalla. Imagine being raided and you stand on your line. You start hearing "ODIN! ODIN!" Chanted behind the visible lines and you see elderly men, men whom are taught to wage war since they were kids, charging your army with zero hesitance, cutting down your troops and finally when they are killed, you see them smiling. And the battle has not even began.
5:50 if thors kills them all, wich he could, then they just keep sending soldiers and he never sees a day of peace in his life. 10:30 absolutelly not what hapened... Yeah Asheland betrayed him in the end, but first he offered him to become the leader of their gang because he trully got to respect Thors. But since Thors would never accept something like that he had to kill him right there. Also I like Thorfin a lot more when he grows up, dude has one of the biggest character developments since Guts.
quick history fact the wood boats aint as heavy as the metals ones we have today obviously so theres actual stories of vikings carrying ships on land into battle and shit
I’ve been waiting for the day for CJ to add Thorkell into the round table of Black Air Force energy 😊 Because that walking monstrosity always be wanting smoke 💨 😨 and he collect packs with a sinister smile on his face
@@christianmccaffrey7113a fair few characters are actually based on real people in history, ragnar, lief ericson, prolly a few others im forgetting as well
26:55 Oh hell nah, I gotta stop it right now. Thorekell is a absolute diabolical human, kinda reminds reminds me of um Yujiro Hanma. Which brings me to this question, who you got in a 1v1 match between Thorekell and Yujiro? I got my answer, what's yours? WWWW vid 💯 #Foolishgang
Real talk bruh you are by far one of my favorite reactor, after I found you in the in love with Mary Jane (the full movie) I couldn't find anyone who can make me laugh 😁💯💯
I like when you said you would run but all these guys believe you HAVE to run the fade or no one give you props and probably kick you out of the war party. Also askallad actually respected Thors

Thorkell literally only sides with the underdog because that means more opposition to fight
17:40 Not going to lie, I have Viking ancestry on my father's side, and this behemoth of a man, Thorkell is the voice of my people.
Thorkell went hulk on thoffinn. God dawg I feel for that man. 😂
Thorkell is all fun and games until you remember he was actually real...that's the scariest thing about him.
5:32 CJ really had to turn on his best Kratos voice for this one 😂

16:58 "Go play for the league" What league the CBL?! (Catching Bodies League)
Thorkell the giant is absolute unit.
I mean Thorfinn didn't really win against Thorkell fair and square either, he had Askeladd's help, but ofc the other guys didn't know that.
I’ve been waiting for the day for CJ to add Thorkell into the round table of Black Air Force energy 😊
Because that walking monstrosity always be wanting smoke 💨 😨 and he collect packs with a sinister smile on his face
The fact he was a real viking warrior is even crazier.
@@christianmccaffrey7113 On god 😨

i'd recommend watching the show for better context. CJ does good work, but his show isn't meant for accurate show representations.
Thorkil was a Danish joms viking
First off I like to state that did not happen in the anime at all if you want to see what happened watch it your soul
