Hello everyone. I need help. I received a Sonos Play 1 from a friend, but he didn't confirmif is in good working worder. But I still want to use it. I use the same application as in the video, I followed all the steps shown, including factory reset the speaker, but the application does not find the speaker. Can anyone help me with an idea of what the problems might be? P.S. My Sonos Play 1 was not conected on the Wi-Fi router via ethernet cable and. When I press the + and Play/Pause keys, a sound is heard in the speaker as if it had entered Pairing mode. But the application on the phone does not find the Sonos speaker. Thank you very much for your help.
i connected into the wifi and set as a bedroom but then it show the issue that is incompatible saying sonos s2 required to review option of either update options then transfer me to sonos app u showed or remove this product. Both are not working..? What should i do?
This means that you speaker software is glitched and cannot factory reset over wifi. to fix it: connect it via enthernet cable directly to your router and plug it in while pressing down the play/pause button (for play1) or mute button (for play3) and it will reset to factory and then you can connect it. You're welcome.
After the searching product screen, when I press, “set up this product”, it says I need to downgrade to S1 because it is an S2 product, but when I do that on the other app, I can’t even connect the Sonos, to be able to complete that?
I had to go through this myself for a Sonos Play 1 speaker I bought recently. As a veteran IT pro, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with Sonos speakers and their closed eco-system. Pity they don’t allow direct Bluetooth access, even with speakers that support Bluetooth playback…they want everything to go through their clunky app. BTW, where the heck did you get this for $8? I paid $50 for mine…the lowest price I could find.
Does it have to be connected to Wi-Fi? cause I don’t have Wi-Fi. The reason why I bought it was because of the sound, but it’s useless for me if I cannot take it outside to parks or beach
Better you buy Bose minilink 1 or 2...that's just connect to Bluetooth...and it's stay 6 to 8 hrs play time at full charge...it has great sound with base.
If I remember correctly it needs wifi to get connected initially, but after that I don't believe the wifi connection is needed. So you could install it at the library or somewhere else with wifi then take it home and stay connected. I've since sold it but the stereo was amazing in the time I had it. Especially since I paid pennies for it at Goodwill
tried today to install the S1 controller after installing it. I opened it and immediately it asked to upgrade it to S2. Again I was forced to install the S2 app i.e. new sonos app. i checked the list supported by the S1 controller and Play 1 is not listed there anymore.
I connected it to the newest app and wondered why I couldn’t connect to it to Bluetooth or Airplay. Is that the reason?connecting to WI-FI isn’t the problem. I bought this because I wanted Bluetooth and Airplay.
Same to me, i bought it cause i thought i can easily connect to airplay at least, but you can use it only with services in the App, no podcasts, :( better to buy another device
PLEASEEE HELP ME I tried to do it with mine, and the following message appears “this product has S2 software which isn’t compatible with your S1 System. “Can anyone help me how to solve this?
Same issue for me with my Play:1 and playbar....so pissed off with Sonos. I deeply regret buying this,it has been lots of trouble. My product is 7 years old only and already does not work anymore although they are all in perfect condition, as good as new. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful 🙏

@@InkorpTattooMafteiCatalin thank you. I managed to fix the issue. It seems that one of my play1 and my playbar were bricked for good, their FW being at least 2 years old. But fortunately I updated one play 1 last year and using this one as base for a new system, managed to add the other play1 and playbar afterwards without difficulties... But man, Sonos is absolute rubbish, I don't count how much time I have wasted on them since I have them. They really could not care less about their customers. If I would do that with my customers, they would never buy a second time and most probably would return the first device they bought.
yes it doesn't support Bluetooth. it uses Bluetooth for first time when it try to do initial setup to get the wifi info from mobile to choose the same network.

Does it connect via Bluetooth or only via WiFi because the bluetooth symbol is not visible on the phone.?

I ended up picking it from a Goodwill for $8 lol. Was a great find and I did turn around and sell it on Ebay

It also needs wall power. But to answer your question, it does need WiFi

I'm an android guy so it was fairly plug in play but with Apple I could see how that could be a serious issue

Hey! The solution would be to update whatever is on the S1 System to S2. Have you tried that already? What has happened if you did try to update it?

I cannot downgrade my Play 1. It gets hung up on Wifi, cannot find and connect to wifi even if I manually input the info
But it always occupies the wifi?
I don't think so but I could be wrong
I dont think it supports bluetooth, I'm going to try this

So not Bluetooth then... In the slightest
