Way back in 1999, the Euro currency was launched, Ross Kemp leaves Eastenders, there was a solar eclipse, Brooklyn Beckham was born, and if that all wasn't enough The Naked Chef first aired in the UK! Lifted from the very first episode of The Naked Chef - ‘Chef’s Night Off’, Jamie shows us his humble but super delicious roast leg of lamb. Giving us the very first insight and advice on making quality, delicious food, with minimal fuss.

Halcyon era! I was maybe 18 when Naked Chef started and was hooked from the get go. I copied every recipe like a diligent student and dreamt of my future home with open plan living and sliding down the banister on my way to a deli! That man taught me how to cook and today, I searched Jamie Oliver lamb leg to make sure I do justice to the joint I bought and it was perfection!
I remember when this series came to the US. It was phenomenal then and is still phenomenal 20 years later! Now we can watch it over and over. You are my favorite chef and I still love watching you anytime possible. Every recipe I’ve made turns out excellent and I’ve learned how to become a better cook because of you. Thank you so much for all you’ve generously given us! We love you 💕💕💕💕

I was in my teens when Naked Chef started and I've loved him ever since. Jamie changed the face of cooking by making 'chefy' skills achievable for the home cook, whilst still retaining the wow factor. He also made cooking cool and appealing to all ages, male or female. I'll forever be a fan of his!

I was once a Chef myself, Indonesian Chef, now subtitler for Cooking Shows and movies. I used to glue to his shows on BBC Food, a young, long-haired, and the cutest Chef of all. Keep on cooking Jamie. Will always enjoy your shows.

I was 10 or so and still remember watching Jamie as The Naked Chef, really awesome to see him grow into the Globally-renowned chef that he is today. Huge respect!
When you see the confidence he had at such a young age with his cooking ability and knowledge then it's no wonder he's become such a success.
The naked chef turned my interest in cooking into love for cooking, it's what made me want to become a chef (unfortunately life took different turns and a became a miserable lawyer instead, but my dream of becoming a professional chef and owning my own restaurant will never die... The Naked Chef is still my favourite cooking show. I loved watching it with my mum as a kid.
I bought the book "The Naked Chef" after watching that show on TV and I have been cooking and making my own recipes ever since.
I was 8 when I saw this for the first time and thanks to my parents AND Jamie I learned how to cook, how to love cooking and how to make others happy through food.

quite the flashback in time. missed the first couple when it came out because of the title but got brave and watched, was not disappointed. you inspired me as well as others to cook more and my friends and family have enjoyed many a great meals through the years. thank you. was hoping you would do a throwback where you used most of what was available on site for the meal.

It's very sad to hear of Pat's passing. Her inquisitive nature and patience made the great, original JO shows possible. We have every JO DVD in English and German and still love watching them. It's nice to see them here, too.

Used to watch The Naked Chef on my 14" Goodmans portable TV in my bedroom when I was 9ish.
Good times, got me into cooking and flavours, unfortunately I'm now nearly 30 and I have to cook every meal in my house because people like Jamie taught me to be half decent 😂

This takes me back. It is so true that Pancetta was a niche product, as were quite a lot of the ingredients we use more regularly. I remember the local Sainsbury's still had a section called "Fancy Cheeses"!
I remember when the show was just about to come out and I thought that he was really going to be naked hahaha. My family was too obsessed with Emreril Lagasse and made me watch him instead.....boo! I'm 30 years old....now who's the boss?? My kids will grow up watching Jamie!
