@TheElino CB is genuinely one of the easiest weapons in the game to pick up. Youre eased into it with saes spam, and you could reasonably keep playing like that for your entire mh career
So here’s the thing. I like longsword, it’s a very fun weapon, but personally I feel that capcom just keeps adding shit to it that lowers the skill floor while simultaneously raising the skill ceiling to a degree that no other weapon has (except for rise hunting horn but that bitch is dead and buried, praise god). I feel like being able to cancel out of helmsplitter is like if the greatsword could dodge out from the middle of a TCS in case you whiffed it. To complain about rise hunting horn again, it’s like removing the recital from the fuckin hunting horn and just making the songs proc automatically instead of actually putting any thought into what you’re doing. Like yeah it’s inconvenient to whiff it, that was the point. It’s the big high committal, high cost, high reward attack. You’re supposed to only use it when you know it’s gonna hit properly, because it does a fuckton of damage and would be an insane thing to be pulling out left and right (which is what makes intimate knowledge of the monster’s behavior extremely rewarding, because by exploiting proper openings and using smart gauge management you are just able to spam helmsplitter). I wouldn’t really have as much of an issue if they made any sort of punishment to dodging out of it like losing half your remaining gauge or something because then at least you’re still discouraged from just randomly spamming it until it lands. People always say “but dawg it’s a PVE game why do you care” I care because I like the current design philosophy of monster hunter that highly rewards players that really pay attention to the minute details. For example, in MHW during the alatreon fight, you can’t clutch to his head when he’s manipulating lightning. Except, THATS NOT TRUE (necessarily™️), you can’t clutch to his head when it’s covered in electricity. This actually stops a little bit before every attack that uses lightning actually finishes if you pay attention to it. I like that I’ve learned to differentiate that one specific monster twitch that’s only ever so slightly different from a completely different move tell (glavenus sharpening vs glavenus doing his fucked up roundslash). I love that I know what attacks that look insane to try and punish are actually consistently able to be punished safely. I love headsniping, I love baiting monsters into seemingly fucked up helmsplitters, I love latching onto fatalis’s skull and just making it blow up every time that dipshit thinks it’s safe to do a basic sweeping flamethrower. I don’t like that for whatever reason you can safely grapple alatreon’s head during the Ice AOE but not the fire one even though it’s literally the same attack regardless. I do like that I know that tho. That being said, obviously you are still rewarded for knowing all these things. But you’re not punished for not knowing them either. I’m not saying that to be a “back in my day we walked to school uphill both ways” kinda guy or whatever, I don’t think that new people should be obliterated for the crime of not knowing monster behavior, but they should be allowed to fail so they can learn and grow. I didn’t just know all those things about those monsters because I’m just goated like that (even though I AM), I learned it by hunting the monsters countless times. I labbed out all the moves I’m able to punish myself. If I could just cancel out of every high commitment attack I don’t think I would have learned all the monsters so intimately. I’ve been a vocal, not necessarily critic, more of a “guy confused” regarding how many counterattacks longsword seems to get in every recent installment but even then you had to actually know what attacks to counter and which ones would just hit you with an extended hitbox afterwards lol. I think the iai slash in rise being buffed with sword levels was a little unnecessary but hey whatever the timing is still really tight. Like I didn’t really play longsword a lot in world until after I beat fatalis. At which point I just kept throwing myself at fatalis using longsword after I beat acidic glavenus with it once just to get the moveset down. I’m not even that good at long sword in world but I can beat fatalis with it semi consistently using the helmsplitter punishes I figured out for myself. “After this attack he moves like this, if you hit the body with the launch you can get the head on the way back down.” If I could just go “whoops that was a bad idea, roll out” with no repercussions I would’ve just kept spamming helmsplitter on really dumb “openings” every time I had red gauge. I wouldn’t have really “learned” fatalis, just beat my head against a wall until it broke because I have titanium plating in my skull. TLDR: I’m an autistic nerd who has nothing better to do than to psychoanalyze fictional beasts like Laios from Dungeon Meshi. This post is really long and I don’t expect anyone to actually read through the whole thing because it’s a lot of me just vomiting words into my screen for my own enjoyment of talking about my favorite thing ever. Be it to the void, idc. Thanks if you did read all of it though lol.
Yeah yknow the one that happens by hitting b+y after a sword slash. You bash with the bottom of the shield not the face if that's what you're confused about
It is a pretty important move, in 4U and world, it allows you to go from sword and shield into SAED or AED. Mastering this move will allow you to do big damaged without having to change into axe mode previously.
Okay that first longsword guy saying "The other weapons also got new moves! Look at greatsword" really grinds my gears because Greatsword got like some of the least new stuff in Wilds. All of its additions are things that other weapons also got. Except for perfect tackle retaining charge level. But that's literally it.
The one you scrolled past about the lobbies, though, is a legitimate complaint. Saw it all the time in world and iceborne. Dont set a "target" for your hub if you at least aren't doing it. That and the countless people just sitting around afk taking up space
5:53 sheething mid air doesnt get away by itself, from what I've seen lance and gunlance are confirmed (but maybe even all shield weapons) are able to block to cancle attack animations. basically you don't commit nearly as much now and they play like sekiro, they get perfect blocks too. but at the same time this could just be demo oversight and not planned for release, so it's too soon to say
I've said it idek how many times. Nobody hates Monster Hunter more than MH fans. Thats why i donf frequent the community, all you hear are complaints about change. Whether it's good change or bad, "change is wrong" in their eyes

I got some friends into MH and I encouraged them to at least always try to solo a monster a couple of times before calling in randos to help, to try and prevent them from being like that. I think sone people just get carried into the endgame through multiplayer, and then suddenly realise they never actually learned to play.
Nah, that's not really it at all. As someone who's actually bothered to read the majority of the posts on there to see what was written instead of some weird fucked up desire to laugh at people, a lot of them have good points. Subpar design is subpar design, sorry that not everyone agrees with the people like you who have this elitist since that the only way someone could not like it is if they're bad. It's a really, really stupid take. (I am at Fatalis, btw, and am considered one of the two best players of my group, we don't normally play with other people, so please spare me the stupid "you must be bad too!!" fallacies ;) )
Flinch Free only negate some friendly fire attack. Others like launching, explosive and Lance Dash Attack still effect other player. Shock Absorber on the other hand negates all friendly fire, and should be included in all future MH. I would rather friendly fire to be removed all together though.
LS player not understanding that people hate the botched hitboxes a fast swinging everything around not become it make the weapons TOO OP but because the guys using them forget that they can hit and stagger their ally that are also fighting the monster.
Something noone has mentioned yet is that this game is going to be released specifically for their always online consoles, barring older offline compatible consoles like some companies have been doing. I will not be buying the game until I know it is a complete game with offline compatibility. I urge the MH userbase to make this decision with their brains and to be careful. We are not safe from beauracratic board decisions based on profit-motives and I am going to hate the day that this community breaks its norms.
Great sword, Hammer, Charge blade, Lance, gun lance, dual blade, switch axe, bow, heavy bow gun, light bow gun, insect glaive, sword and shield, hunting horn players: Long sword seems to strong and safe to play. Longsword players: Nah it's everyone else who is wrong. If all you are seeing is people saying hey I think this is too strong then there is probably a reason.

@jonaslowery837 I know but that doesent mean I'm not gonna hate on longsword weebs who continually talk about how good longsword is and why I should be playing it Capcom needs to stop buffing the longsword. I'm not even saying they need to nerf it they just should buff the other weapons and leave longsword alone for at least 1 gen
I love a lot of the weapons and I have been a long time monster hunter fan. Greatsword constantly has great clear time in all the games, so I think the devs love GS more than LS. LS is fun to play in world but kinda mid in terms of damage.

I'll bitch and whine about Long Sword until they make it so some random longsword dumbass can't mess up my perfect guard. Or make it so they lose their sharpness when they hit ally shields.
Yeah I recently started learning Lance in Iceborne, and one of the most annoying things is that allies can activate the counter. I have gotten hit many times because of this. Lance is still fun though, but you definitely have to watch out when playing in multiplayer.
Monster Hunter Rage is Scrub Quotes for the Monster Hunter community. They're terrible players who don't want to improve and literally have a rule against giving people advice to improve against the things they are raging about.
"It's a PvE game so anything goes" is not exactly how people like to see these things. Balance still matters. You shouldn't make people feel like they're gimping themselves by picking a weapon they like, or feel left out when a new game keeps giving new stuff to one weapon disproportionately. For just a comparison, LS has like 3 different focus strike moves, 3-4 brand new moves, and several additions and changes to its pre-existing combos to make it better. Compare that to its former shared category and partner, Greatsword. Greatsword only got 2 generic new things. It can do those guard clashes, and it can do an offset attack. Every weapon that can guard can do a guard clash, and half the weapons in the game can offset slash. Greatsword got nothing new and unique of its own, only copy-pasted moves from other weapons. Compare it to Insect Glaives, who even lost their flight. While Longsword only gets new moves and buffs. People will notice such difference in treatment. People will feel like they're having less fun because of the weapon they picked, and that's an awful thing to make your playerbase feel.
I play LS but also dab into many others weapon and it still feel a bit bummer that they don't get as much new move as LS. We just have to accept that LS is capcom love child at this point or even years ago. Same small outrage happened when sunbreak reveal LS new moves and capcom doesn't give a shit about it. Then people love LS more again to capcom it's a success. It's such a self-perpetuating cycle lmao.
No, it's because LS is the most popular weapon, which means it has more of the worst hunters. On average you just don't see a Hunting Horn user, and they're a supportive weapon, so even if they are bad, they're making you better, totally forgivable. Same goes for Lance, except they're soaking aggression and hits with their big shield. Long sword, you'll see at least 1 on any hunt with multiple people, they're more likely to be stunning or tripping you than adding to your damage, and also, probably getting carted because they're cocky. So the long sword hatred is completely rational, and I'd dare to say, appropriate. From and Insect Glaive user.
LS gets a cancel that makes sense but youre only allowed to have it if every other weapon can do that too??? Okay can LS get something from every other weapon then, i want a discharge, give me some rage attacks give me a hammer charge etc
Ls already has the best counters by a mile, it is kind of weird to let it just back out of a commitment when committing to animations and using resources is a big bit of mh. Doesn't help that Ls is like the only weapon that didn't lose any moves in wilds, it would be like if greatsword could roll out of tcs halfway through.
@@callanharvey6264 That would be true if u could tcs with 1 button. Obviously u cant. Also the fact u can aim the tcs with focus mode is a huge buff. It surprises me, how these games have such a huge "rage" community. Whilst especially the newer gen games have progressively become so easy in terms of difficulty compared to the older gen games, that I have lost faith in the average player skill and adaptability. Also the constant complaining about weapons they don't use themselves, just let others enjoy their weapon fantasy😅
Easy work around, point out where their skill failed and provide advice on how to improve it. Technically calling out skill issues, but getting around it by being helpful.
I tried it and it's as easy and strong as they say (in World at least, haven't played rise but probably the same there). It's crazy how much easier the game becomes when using it. I've made it my "I don't want to deal with this monster's bullshit" weapon
Helmbreaker cancel isn’t even a buff it’s a quality of life change. What would other weapons even need to match this lol pretty sure they dealt w all that in the same game that debuted it the helmcancel in the first place
It is a massive buff. It would be if SAED or WyvernFire had a cancel and didn't take thier resource to do it again. You can cancel SAED but all your phials boost your shield, but if its already boosted than its pointless. Being abke to cancel helmsplitter makes less risky and more rewarding.
That's a huge buff dude that further rewards players for making mistakes rather than being punished. If you positioned yourself poorly on a helmbreaker you lost red bar due to it which is fair. I made a misplay and now have to rebuild spirit. Being able to cancel it AND retain red bar just to immediately helmbreaker again to get rewarded for it with the new follow up as well is genuinely stupid. Canceling it should still take away bar because this further puts the weapon into the low risk MASSIVE reward style the 5th gen set for it. Tl;dr you should lose bar for poor positioning regardless of being able to cancel. 4U-GU LS>World/Rise LS

Thanks if you did read all of it though lol.

chargeblade has a shield bash???
Yeah yknow the one that happens by hitting b+y after a sword slash. You bash with the bottom of the shield not the face if that's what you're confused about
It is a pretty important move, in 4U and world, it allows you to go from sword and shield into SAED or AED. Mastering this move will allow you to do big damaged without having to change into axe mode previously.
The animation looks more like a Pile Bunker instead of Shield Bashing 😅

I dont understand why the LS player was complaining about how his main is shited on when in the same posted he did the same with the HBG
i love how most of these are just people being bad at parts of the game where you shouldve learned to be better by now
I got some friends into MH and I encouraged them to at least always try to solo a monster a couple of times before calling in randos to help, to try and prevent them from being like that.
I think sone people just get carried into the endgame through multiplayer, and then suddenly realise they never actually learned to play.

Flinch Free only negate some friendly fire attack. Others like launching, explosive and Lance Dash Attack still effect other player. Shock Absorber on the other hand negates all friendly fire, and should be included in all future MH. I would rather friendly fire to be removed all together though.

Based lance player
Also please what moves exactly have been lost that actually make the weapons worse? Also theyre giving pretty much every weapon in the game a counter how do u know LS has the best? No wonder everyone is sick of you guys. U cant even get a single thing right with your reasoning
@@callanharvey6264its as the very good counter because it's the type of weapon it is now, a counter weapon, complaining about it, it's like complaining that lance as the better shield or that hbg as the more range or sns the more utility
@@Steamedhams578you’re tired of us complaining? We’re tired of longsword being a baby weapon lmao. @@noctisebboy Ok? I dont care if people think LS is boring or braindead just give an actual reason that's not a nitpick or just plain false like above. Also anyone getting heated in the first place over LS being a 'baby weapon' in a PVE game is unhinged and stupid. Anyone I know who actually enjoys LS in the first place has enjoyed the different iterations and changes they made in Rise. The only fundamental difference was that iai slash became way more important.
