Motocross Action Magazines tests the 2022 Kawasaki KX450 at Glen Helen Raceway. This bike is identical to the 2021 model in every way except the graphics. We have tons of time on the 2021 and put even more on the 2022 at Glen Helen Raceway with Kawasaki helping out on the day. Assistant Editor Josh Mosiman breaks down the details on the Kawasaki and all the areas that need help as well as where the bike excels the most.

Back in the 80s here in Cali, I was one of the very few who rode Team Green. Starting lines were a sea of red.

I went to a 240mm rear rotor on my 2020 KX450.
Ordered a Braking rotor, and a 2018 rear caliper mount. You only need those 2 parts.
And in a pinch, I can use the rear wheel on my 2021 KX250 if I get a flat or something else.
Only difference is the rim(2.15 on a 450, and 1.85 on a 250).
I use 110/90-19 tire on my 250(sometimes factory 250's run 120's depending on track and rider), and 120/80-19 on my 450.
The tire clears the swingarm.
That 2 stroke that came by at 16:48 just sounded so proper. Can't wrap my old ears around those 4 strokes on a motocross bike. Team Green forever
Pulled 7 out 8 holeshots on mine last weekend....so it's plenty fast for me. But yes the 8mm air filter bolt was stripped the first time I removed it lol.

Just bought my 22 450 and I definitely love it so far on the rides. Can't wait to see how it does this weekend on the first race.

The plastics just keep getting smaller on newer bikes. Looks funny imo

I only like valves in engines belonging to vehicles with more than 3 wheels lol, but for a 4 stroke bike, and a Kawasaki at that, I'm happy to see the factory adding more green back in. I love me some lime green when it comes to Kawi's lol.

They need to tuck the muffler it really ruins the look of the bike even with aftermarket options they still hang waaayyy out the back.
Yeah it’s massive.. have to be careful not to loop out with that hanging off the back.
Just wondering if you could change the disk on the back of the bike...
I always love the green color. At least it never tried to mix it with red nor blue to confuse it for another color.
They mixed it with purple back in the day and everyone loved it

be nice if they made a 1/4 turn kit(Dzus fastener) where the 8mm bolt goes for the left number plate when accessing the air filter.
And side note, there's even less room in the 250 airbox, pain in the ass to get the air filter in and out.
I cut the backfire screen out of my air filter cages. I think No Toil makes a filter cage without the screen.
Will you guys do a KX 450SR review, that would be awesome.

Glad to see the rear number plate was changed I don't know what they were thinking last year it looked like it was taken off a 1970"s bike .

Love it.. what do u think of the Yamaha 250 fix for trails and intermediate ripping on tracks. I’m worried about the non kick starter but wanted an option but I’ll take your opinion if u know others that talked about it.
E start is great now a days you won’t need it but if you’re worried get a back up starter

To adres the problem with the 8mm side panel bolt, i put a Helicoil stainless 8mm insert in the sub frame, done.
The rear brake disc: i cut it in the lathe down to 240mm, problem solved.
A smal part of the brake pad is now not used.
Question: Can you putt around on these bikes without fouling plugs or do they like you to pin it all the time to keep it running good?
Four stroke engine... the spark plug will not foul, but the liquid cooled RACE engine will OVERHEAT if idled too long or bike speeds are low.

@@vwsandvettes3253 this bike is made for putting uphill in fourth gear at 20-25 mph. Try it, it's exhilarating. Farm tourer.

Hopefully soon. Still waiting for Honda to get us one. Once we have it, we'll have a video up quickly. Excited to see how the suspension and ECU are this year

Hi I bought a 2022 kx 450 5 months ago ,I fitted a yoshimura RS12 full system with rubber mount .
I have done 15 hours and while riding today the subframe exhaust mount snapped .
Looks like I’m up for a new subframe.
Should this be covered under warranty . ??

Man thanks for an honest review never thought I would hear someone say how trash the Kawi is. They can't ever not cut corners. They are right behind SuckZuki. Can't wait for Eli to get off this bike.
They really weren’t saying anything bad about it just the top speed isn’t the fastest and they make up for that in the upfront powere

No it's only legal when you ride it on track... If you want to turn this green gojira into supermoto.. You need to spend on few mods.. Like taillights, horn and blinkers ☺️💚💚

Could be done but there are better options for dual sport. This bike is intended for dirt. You'd need to swap the tires, adjust suspension, etc. The dual sport bikes have a lot more road friendly options besides the obvious blinkers and lights etc.
