    You guys should record your trails taken on map. With ONX or other trail apps so we can scan the QR code and take the same journey that you all did. Only a suggestion- take it for what it’s worth. Thank you for your video.

    Beautiful footage. I've been looking at different channels to see how they do the intro and I noticed that you don't have one (for this video at least, lol). Excellent job here with the cinematography, it's very clean-cut with the shots. Looks like you all had a great time!

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Angela! This is 2.3 miles round trip with 524 feet of elevation gain, I’d recommend downloading the offline alltrails map as there is some route finding on the rock slabs

    Kevin:
    Great video, I have been all over southern Utah but never to the Vortex, I will definitely go there now. You might also check out Yant Flats near Silver Reef Utah, just north of St. George. Also a beautiful place.

    Can you overnight park at trailhead?

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We couldn’t find a 100% correct answer to this. The info we referenced is Hike St George website. I hope this helps! But if you can’t, the drive from St. George isn’t far, and I believe Gunlock State Park (just off the gravel road) has camping

    • @adventureweekly
      @adventureweekly ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you cannot camp in this area. There are signs up all over the place clarifying this.

    What a gem it is. How long is the trail and how long is the hike round trip?

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is 2.3 miles round trip with 524 feet of elevation gain. But ours was probably more because we explored and ran around quite a bit haha

    Kevin, did you purchase a recreational drone permit for the state parks in Utah when you went? If so did you have to have your FAA pilot license to do so?

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we do! TH-cam has made it extremely easy to get drone permits for their state parks for both hobbyists and licensed pilots. The parks we’ve flown at the permits range from $5-15, which typically includes multiple days usage. Some parks has specified months to fly (dead horse for example). But every park clearly lines this out. I hope this info helps!

    • @shamusoatis2571
      @shamusoatis2571 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KevinEassa Thank you for the info! I was just curious because I am not a licensed pilot yet but I wanted to get a permit for the state parks in Utah and didn’t know if they would let me or not as a recreational flyer do that without the license or not?

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shamusoatis2571 you shouldn’t have an issue unless they change the current permit rules!

    • @adventureweekly
      @adventureweekly ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing to be aware of is places like this are in designated wilderness area, which means that it is illegal to launch your drone from inside the wilderness boundary. This particular hike is in the Red Mountain Wilderness. The good new is that it's not illegal to fly your drone over the wilderness, so if it works out you can launch your drone just outside the boundary and you should be just fine.

    which offline maps do you suggest?

    • @KevinEassa
      @KevinEassa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I looooove Alltrails, it’s such an informative tool. Their app is very glitchy though which is super annoying but even with all of the glitches they’re downloadable offline map option still is amazing. We download the map for every hike we do
