I am so happy that I get to see this video, Jady. I have a daughter who is turning 4 years old in 2 months time but we both struggle in her writing activities as she always complains her hand hurts! I feel bad as a mom because I am a teacher myself and it is so difficult to juggle work and taking care of her needs as well as her younger sister who is turning 2 years old in December. How I wish kids can go to school and learn face to face with an actual teacher. However, I must double my effort in teaching her and her sister and having to watch this video gives me hope that I can help her learn how to write and have fun while learning. So a HUGE thank you to you!
Writing is a developmental skill not an age based skill. The reason your young child struggled so much is because the bones in her fingers were not properly developed to begin writing, and yes her little hands were hurting. Did she have sensorial activities like playing with clay, transferring objects, lacing/threading, tracing in sand, painting? Most in India do not understand how crucial it is to develop the muscles BEFORE you teach a child to write. If school had waited until she was ready and not forced it - she and you would have not had the stress and she would have enjoyed learning.
This is awesome! As a licensed childcare provider, these hands-on activities work like miracle. I included play dough and beads as part of our motor skills. They love them.

I have two in my classroom and when they see me using my right hand they try using their right hand, I give them freedom, and I tell them that if they feel comfortable that is ok. Have you had any experience in this, thanks so much for your content! :)

I have a problem on teaching my daughter how to hold the pencil perfectly..she fights me when I try to correct her or she just cries and then no longer wants to participate she is 5 years old
My mother for me put me in a speech program at school, I don’t know what options you have but pencil grips help a lot, fun colors and glittery ones so that she’d want to use the pencil grips, make sure she picks them! But before getting them I’d give her an explanation on what these are used for and show her yourself?
