This works. I was reading books 📚 at age 3. My dad did this with me. It's very simple. Lifelong reader! 🌟

This works. I started doing letter sounds with my son when he was 2 and a half. It took maybe five or ten minutes a day. He was reading basic words by a little over 3. He reads on his own now at 4 years old. It's so cheap, get a pack of white index cards and just flip through them once a day. I split the alphabet in half at first and worked up to the full alphabet. DO THIS!

This is really good advice. Note to parents: be patient with your child and don't compare your child. If you are a CONSISTENT teacher, they will learn (catch on) eventually.

Oh man I needed this! My 6 year old kindergartener is just very very slowly getting her ABC’s

This is already working for us. My four year old has a hard time blending, but as soon as I turned the letter sounds into flash cards, and then made flash cards of the two-letter “blends” she started to immediately get it. She’s even anticipating how the two letter blends are parts of words and she likes to throw out words she can think of that start with those blends, like: “di : dig” and “to : top.” She’s a smart kid but she was stuck and I think this is gonna do the trick. Her 2.5 year old sister is catching up with her fast, too!

Thank you for this!!! I've been searching for a while for someone to EXPLAIN how to learn reading (rather than just comparing programs). I've been a great reader for as long as I can remember, but now that it's time to teach my daughter, I had no clue where to start! I don't remember learning things like "letter sounds", short sounds vs long sounds, etc. I'm literally having to re-teach myself to read. Haha! This video helped so much!

I taught private school, decoding with phonics only. Frequent, common words will eventually become sight words. You are right in your methods. I also had my students and now my grandkids trace the letters when first learning the letter's sound, it helps with learning how to write the letters as well.

I know hoy to pronounce or write words by memory and can’t explain why a letter sounds different in different words; i desperately need to take phonics and grammar lessons. This was very helpful, thank you!

For those who wants to know why c p and x the consonant are not in the chart of blends
Here this may help you to understand
In vowel blending (aieou), certain consonants like "c," "p," and "x" are not commonly used because they may result in complex or uncommon sounds when combined with vowels.
    - **C:** The letter "c" often has a soft sound (like "s") before "e," "i," and "y" and a hard sound (like "k") before "a," "o," and "u." This can complicate vowel blending.
    - **P:** The letter "p" can create abrupt sounds and might not blend smoothly with vowels in a way that produces common and easily pronounceable combinations.
    - **X:** The letter "x" can represent different sounds, and its use in blending with vowels might lead to less common or challenging combinations.
The goal of vowel blending is to create simple, clear, and commonly used sounds, which is why certain consonants are avoided in these specific combinations.
