- In this video i have to make a bigger repair as i was to rough when making the walls. I think also that the wood peg i used might have been to week. It shouldn't have broken otherwise. I also make blueberry porridge and rope from lime bast that i use to make drip lines in the cabin. The water is running from the rafters and drips inside the cabin, as you can see in the beginning.
The lime bast
I dont like to fell living trees, but these is from a plantation where lots of them was felled this vinter, to create space for the left trees. I was lucky that i knew about it and could fell a couple in june where the bark is full of sap and easy to peal.
Musen:
My dog eats raw chicken every night. Besides that she has dry food available all day.
Musen (the mouse) is a labradoodle
She is half brown labrador and half black/white toy poodle.
Her real name is Effie, but i only use that when her hearing is bad. ;)

Not only are you a master craftsmen as a carpenter, but your knowledge of the trees you use never fail to impress & astound me. The use of the bark from the year previously and turned into rope is an incredible skill in itself. Your blueberry jam would be lovely on fresh warm bread, spread with butter (which is how we have our jam here in the U.K. although it’s a bit thicker in texture, looks delicious - yum!) I admire your confidence within yourself, which allows you to show when you’ve made an error & how you improve it. Most men have such an ego that they would not want to share that part on YT. I adore your fire cabin, it’s such a stunning & unique design and build. It looks as if it was always, and meant to be there. Here in Michigan we do the same thing with Basswood bark. Makes great cordage, the rope that held the world together!

I just love watching you work Soren. Fills me with contentment and brings memories of watching Dad work. I noticed the first log you put in was kind of rotten at one end; will that be a problem in future? I flinched for some reason when I saw you de-barking the tree; It reminded me of seeing a hunter skin a snake alive when I was a kid. He got shot by another moose hunter the next moose season . . . karma.
I could see Musen thinking "Dad, what's goin' on here" ;)>
My mom used to make blueberry soup with dumplings for our dinner every week during blueberry season; it's one of the major industries here . . . we also had strawberry shortcake every Sunday for dinner; so much better than going to church ;))

My advice to you sir put a wooden umbrella on the top of your wooden roof so that the melted water came from the ice snow will not drop to that middle whole

Thank you :) When i was i kid, i always ran around half naked with a feather in my hear playing i was a native american. Have always been fascinated by them. :) I think of thinks i would like to do, and research, other things i figure out when i am walking my dog, sometimes it takes a long time, other times it comes instantly. :) But often when i build or practice it, i run into problems, but. The best thing is to figure out a solution and fixing it. I love that. :)

The rope is ingenious.
It must be a challenge in colder months to heat the home, lose the CO without also losing all the campfire heat. Do u ever slip rocks into the fire, for later distribution around the cabin floor to heat it? Native Amecians heated teepees and wigwams this way (always careful not to heat geodes, though, which can easily explode under heat).
I sometimes use heated rocks in the foot end of my top quilt, in wintertime.
