Just read Pluto last week. That thing slaps. Anime watchers are not gonna be ready when it comes out in October. It’s hard to pick my favorite out of Monster, 20th CBs, and Pluto but Pluto benefits from being much shorter and no chapter feels slow, it’s like a sprint from start to finish. Bleach is in my top 10, and one of the few Childhood shounen I keep going back to because of the Mayuri vs Szayelaporro fight. Growing up with perfectionist parents, that quote really helped me through some hard times.
Considering that Oyasumi Punpun, Homunculus, Witch Hat Atelier, Oshi no Ko, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Goodbye Eri, Chainsaw Man and JoJo's Bizarre adventures are in my top 10 favorite manga and that Mob Psycho 100, Hibike! Euphonium, Violet Evergarden, Oshi no Ko, Banana Fish, Steins; Gate, Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight, Pluto, Vinland Saga and Chainsaw Man are in my top 10 favorite anime, the deacription for Oyasumi Punpun is quite accurate.
As someone that considers Punpun my favorite manga thus far, you actually hit the nail on the head with me! I have this thing where, if I hear that a piece of media is particularly heartwrenching or tear-jerking, I will prioritize experiencing that over others. Because imo, if a story hurts you to the point of making you genuinely cry, that’s like the biggest indicator that the story you are experiencing is really good.
