No. This is NOT PHOTOGRAPHY. For me, this is JEWELRY MAKING, and you are the MASTER. I am sure I am your biggest fan. Your patience and creativity is a motivation Adam.
For anyone out there having trouble using a pen/pencil to focus or just having trouble getting your focal point at all you can try what I did as an alternative. Instead of using a pencil, pen, or similar object to get your focus, cut a piece of string and tape it to the dropper right where the water would be dripping from and let it dangle down into the water and get your focus that way. Nice to have options :) and awesome tutorial!
I absolutely liked the video. This included not only how to do the droplet pic, but also how to do photo editing. After a stunning result a good framed pic was the glorious end.
Long time viewer but not much of a commenter; this is superb Adam. Just been watching a couple of your Macro Videos from a couple of years ago and you have certainly grown in confidence in that time. Keep it up - looking forward to more.
+Stephen Tierney Ha thanks Stephen. The information in those videos is still solid but I cringe looking at some of the old stuff now. It was a nerve wracking place in front of the camera when I first started!!
Hello congratulation for you amazing photos, I would all you il you know or raccomend Cognisys stopshot water drop. It’s a little bit expensive... thank you
Nice glasses! Thanks for sharing your expertise--much appreciated. Love your no nonsense videos. Informative and never boring or slow. Keep up the great work!!!!
Thanks Adam, I watched the full video before and enjoyed it, and once again enjoyed this video. it is amazing the different forms you get with every splash.
+Elzbieta Arno Yeah. I think that's part of what I love about it. You have a lot of control over what is going on but the water is still seemingly completely random.
Great stuff Adam, I found your channel through water drop video, followed you ever since 😀 watched previous videos a couple of times & tried water drop from bag! Nice to see you’ve update this video
Stunning work Adam, I love your droplet photos, I have tried a couple based on your earlier vlog using super basic kit and got some acceptable beginner results and I think that I will try again sometime in the future. See you next time (by the way your glasses suit you ) Del
Hi, can you give a rough idea of a good starting point of the 4 dials on the splashart machine. I know there are no markings but perhaps you could use a 360 degree clock face with 12 o’clock being 0 as a guide. Or even a photo of the positions of the dials. I have ordered a machine and I’m waiting delivery. Thanks in advance.
When the weather was so miserable the other day, was thinking about your previous videos on this subject and remembered how interesting it was with the distinctiveness of each shot. Was great to see your revisit this topic and really enjoyed the post processing section and the final product was beautiful
sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Trace Kyson i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
so beautiful ! most of people use 1-2 sec exposure in a dark room. is it possible that remaining open so long time, we are sure to get the right instant when flashes trigger while at 1/200sec you could be offset ? 1/200sec is 5msec opening while waterdorp takes 200msec to drop and fire the speedlites. I agree it works in your case but i just wondered...
I’m in my 60’s and winter photography can be tricky having to adapt with some home stuff when weather up here in Scotland is too bad. So now I’ve ordered SplashArt kit and look foreword to learning new skills. Great videos Adam great ideas Jim
Awesome in-depth and clear info thank-you! My fiancé really wants to try this but we don’t know that the thing holding the tube is called . Do you happened know what it’s called please? Many thanks if you get this and reply . I realise this video is 2 years old and you may not read the comments so il see if I can find you on fb/ Twitter or instagram too . Thankyou for making your videos 🖖
Hi Adam, another great video, I've had some great success with water drop collisions, but finding it difficult to get the actual collision to focus from front to rear. I'm using a good macro lens, and my setup is very similar to yours, I've tried various F-stops , and the water stem is always in focus. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Keep these videos coming!! Thanks.
I noticed you have the 10S Pro Printer. I just wondered if you had any thoughts on how it stacks up against the 100s? I'm getting the hang of this a bit better now that I have watched more your videos! Thanks again!
Hi. You can check my review of the printer here. th-cam.com/video/8icsJbVVHYE/w-d-xo.html The main benefit over the 100s is the chroma optimizer ink. It coats the paper and adds an extra level of quality. The 10s also comes with the Canon Print Studio plug in which is very nice. The 100 doesn't have this.
I think I may have to give this a try.....was the flash strip on the vertical portion not removed from the reflection in the water on purpose? now theres a flash strip on the reflection in the water but not on the original.
Superb! I just bought the SA2 and was experiencing the frustrations that you spoke of, so I'm glad its all part of the process and not just me being rubbish. Question is, do you just add the gum stuff to the water dropper or the bath as well? Thanks again. It was actually your videos that encourage me to buy this.
My question is drop size. Are both drops the same size? Do you find a larger drop works better for rebound or smaller? And if the 2 drops are different sizes which one is larger. I have the Pluto trigger and Pluto water dropper. I have only taken a few shots with it so far but like the results. You tips are invaluable!!
I really enjoyed the video, as a user of the equipment you use I find it difficult to get the fine adjustment to get a good image. Could you spend a some time on the how you use the adjustment dials to get your results?
+Graeme Cave Thanks Graham. Nothing wrong with a rubber glove and manually shooting the camera though. Might take a bit longer but I've still had good results doing something similar with a hole in a sandwich bag.
by hantax gum how much do you wear? Do you use hot water? Then some milk? When I try, I have some lumps of hantax gum in the middle, a nice thick liquid doesn't come out like in your video. I am using the pluto valve but it is not easy to find the right combination, because I have seen that with the same settings the stem or the hat does not always come out, maybe communication delays with the pluto trigger and the camera :(
Adam, about to try water droplet photography with a friends electronic dropper, please can tell me if you put the gum in the liquid in the bowl, or dropper or both. Love the images. Best regards
another great video, love the set-up and the look behind the scenes shots.i did notice a small thing that might help later.in the editing process, you deleted the light from the flash on the "stem" of the water drop.i think you might have missed the same light on the reflection of the "stem" from the water under the drop?
+MrPanthers23 Yes. I have samples I can send you. If you send me a message via firstmanphotography.com I'll ship them to you. There's three different types you can choose from, each with their own qualities.
Great vlog Adam. Brilliant studio work on the water droplets. I tried this a month or so ago after recapping on your first vlog, the result was very impressive given the fact that I was just using a plastic bag! Thanks for sharing and great work.
Hi Adam brilliant TH-cam channel. Thankyou for inspiring us all you are a legend. I have a quick question. I’ve got a Nikon D7200 and I want to get into water drop photography myself but I don’t have flash guns yet. Any recommendations you can give would be great. Cheers mark xxx
Some flash guns can be bought very cheaply on the used market. The key is to be able to fire them of the camera. Wireless flash triggers are now pretty cheap and can be picked up for under £40. The flashes from Nikon will obviously be best but the range from YONGNUO is also now pretty decent. Appreciate the comment. Thanks
Hi Adam , I wanted to buy the Splash art system , but I use Olympus E M1 Mkii and the developer recons the Olympus may not work , have you tried or do you know anyone that has used an E M1 Mkii with the Splashart , thanks for your videos , David
Great tutorial Adam.... may even give it a shot myself at some point. How much is the water drop gear and box etc? Am potentially starting my own photo biz at some point soon and vids from yourself and Mr Heaton really inspire... keep up the great work mate! Maybe a 2019 calendar would be useful in gen some extra £££. Cheers Jase
hi , great video by the way, what was your setting in the camera, 1/200 F11, ISO 100 ?, what is the advantage using this method instead the open flash technique ( in the dark ), do you put your flashes in high speed sync thanks
Hi Adam. Is this kit the best on the market today? i bought the mops splash but its very hard to use and haven't got any good result. what is your recommendation? Thanks
First man, your videos are awesome, you inspired me to get into the water drop photography. I-have been shooting some water drops lately, and i got some good results....
Mate those images are brilliant. You are a true artist. PS love the glasses :D I always comment as i go along. Thanks once again for the mention at the end buddy :)
Adam, I love your videos, thank you! Re. Water splash photos, is there an inexpensive way to get started or do I have to invest in Splash Art equipment? I’d like to see if I like doing it first as I have a very limited budget. I Have the 105mm macro lens and two flashes, triggers etc. but need a dropper and a stand. What stand do you use? Thanks for your advice.
Hi Adam, yours are the best water drop videos on TH-cam. Have you tried the Miops splash yet? I've got one on the way so I'm hoping it will be good. David.
I founf your video by mistake and I'm not planning to do anything similar to this but I watched the whole video because of your voice 😂 Very calm and soothing, I wish you did crafts hahaha
I´m quite advanced in drop-fotography. I already have a dedicated system for my setup: Search "Glimpsecatcher" and you will find a guy from Luxembourgh called Claude who professionally built this units for highspeed. I´m always recommending a longe macro such as a 150/180 mm lens with f/2.8 or f/3.5 to avoid water splashes on the front of your lens. Due to the fact that the action is freezed by the flash light itself it´s not necessary to use a 1/200 or 1/250 exposure. The flash will do the work for you. Try to avoid over 1/8 of your flash´s power ratio. Good luck !
Thanks Adam for all the information you have shown. Fantastic photos, I have tried without electronics will little success, will keep trying. Hope you don't mind me being picky, you removed the light of the stem but not off the shadow! Sorry.

you left the highlight in the reflection, fascinating process.
Nice to see the process from start to finish, and those prints really do look pretty special!

Great stuff Adam, I found your channel through water drop video, followed you ever since 😀 watched previous videos a couple of times & tried water drop from bag! Nice to see you’ve update this video
Thanks David. Appreciate your support.
Oh yeah... and those prints: Awesome!
+thewelsho Thanks mate.
I'm glad you get some of those sausage shape ones too, I'm spot on at getting those 😓 I love the "toadstool like" ones. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad you found the video Stephanie. Hope it helps you.
Hi! You use xantham gum in both recipients ? Tks
Nice glasses!
Thank you very much, Adam I am going to give it a try.

It's beautiful alright! 👍❤
Stunning final image mate. Great to see your work from beginning to end result. Thoroughly enjoyable video 🙄
+Paul Bell Thanks Paul. Really glad you enjoyed it and comment makes it all worthwhile. Appreciate it.

Hi Adam, What was the secondary flash set to? 1/32 also? This video has been so helpful!
+Alex Roffe Hi Alex. Really glad it was useful. The second flash was on 1/16 power. I just make sure it doesn't directly strike the water drop.
Superb! I just bought the SA2 and was experiencing the frustrations that you spoke of, so I'm glad its all part of the process and not just me being rubbish. Great Step by Step.
I do like these experiments.

wowww what a beautiful photo
Adam, about to try water droplet photography with a friends electronic dropper, please can tell me if you put the gum in the liquid in the bowl, or dropper or both. Love the images. Best regards
+Dave Wall I do both. Good luck. Would love to see what you come up with.
Is there anything you can use other than xantham gum?
Fabulous tutorial - really want to try this.

Do you have any pictures or samples of.the metal print? I am interested, but I'd like to see what it actually looks like first

Hi Adam. Is this kit the best on the market today? i bought the mops splash but its very hard to use and haven't got any good result. what is your recommendation? Thanks
I just want kit that works. The splash art does and I haven't tried anything else. Its not easy though, controlling water isn't easy.
First man, your videos are awesome, you inspired me to get into the water drop photography. I-have been shooting some water drops lately, and i got some good results....
Hi Adam I wondered if you could tell me how you managed to suspend the Green colours in the water without it mixing in?
Can you use the xantham gum in the miops water dropper?
I love this video. What is the brand name of your water dropper and where can I buy it.
Fast, Focused, Friendly lesson. Printing and framing made a huge impact, Thank you !!!!
Great Video very inspirational
Mate those images are brilliant. You are a true artist. PS love the glasses :D I always comment as i go along. Thanks once again for the mention at the end buddy :)
+Paul G Johnson Thanks mate. That means a lot.
Great video. I was curious where you have the metal prnts made. Thanks!
Hi Adam!! Can you explain to me how you have your printer settings?? Your image printed just like on you monitor screen with true colors
Could you make a video in depth of how you printed and framed the image
Great looking pictures and a real inspiration - can I ask your advice I am torn between the MIOPS or the splash art setup any advice or guidance ?
So Cool!!
Thanks!!
+Jared Kinz Really glad you liked it.
First Man Photography Thanks For Responding :)
+Jared Kinz Of course. I love interacting with the people who watch my videos.
Hello, I am one of your followers from Belgium. Can you say what is the name of the printing press for your photos? Thank you
This is just amazing! Thank you.
Great video!! 👌
what's the approx size of the water container you use. is it transparent or opaque glass?
It doesn't really matter. I use a two normal sized oven dishes though. One is glass, the bigger one is white ceramic.
Great work, I really like your personal and photographic style!
David.
That was amazing!
+SinnfullDuck Thanks buddy.
I founf your video by mistake and I'm not planning to do anything similar to this but I watched the whole video because of your voice 😂
Very calm and soothing, I wish you did crafts hahaha
Awesome images Adam, love the print, like the glasses as well they suit you!!
Ive tried this once and failed but this has inspired me to try again - thanks.
You're very welcome Keith. It is very satisfying when it comes off. Good luck.
You look like Jim Royle with the glasses Adam.
Awesome video!! Thanks for the tutorial!! 🙂
Must be selling a few Adam, first lot of colours were from "Mozzer's", now Sainsburys, watch out M&S First mans a comin !! haha ,great vid mate,
I noticed that too Ed 😂
Another great video Adam.
Just wondering if you`ve ever tried to get the very tall jets to create a 3 x collision, if so have you had any success.
What printer do you use?
Very nice tut. At the end I suppose you forgot to remove the lightstripe in the reflection
Got that printer on your say-so. Love it! I hope they give you commission! Ha! Where do you get your frames?

hi Adam, can we shoot with mobile like this if we use moblie lens?
Thanks Adam for all the information you have shown. Fantastic photos, I have tried without electronics will little success, will keep trying. Hope you don't mind me being picky, you removed the light of the stem but not off the shadow! Sorry.
+Peter Ellarby Yep. I'd like to say I was just testing but I just missed it. There was a lot going on to create that video and do a decent water drop shoot in the middle of it. I've corrected now although still need to upload it to the site.
First Man Photography your doing a grand job.
Is it possible for me to do this with an 18-135mm instead of macro. One more thing do I need an electronic dropper
+Fifth Dimension Yes you can do it with a non macro lens but it will not look quite as good. You would have to shoot it a a greater distance and then crop in. You don't have to have a dropper system. Check out my tutorial for the in depth info.

Cracking video, cheers Adam 👍
Will this work with mirrorless cameras
I really enjoyed the video tuition so thank you for that. I did chuckle when the pencil went in!! You have a new subscriber :)
Another great video. The second flash, is that aimed at the background?
Thank you for all the info , i'm very new to photography in general and this was great , quick and easy to understand to get up and running fairly quickly and lovely finished piece . nice one and good luck mate.
Can you recreate this with just a simple bag set up for the drips of water..really want to do this sort of shot :)
Great and helpful, thank you!
Looks really great printed and in a frame :-)
Good it wasn't the flash you dropped 😃
Ha yeah. You're quite right. Appreciate the comment buddy. Thanks.
