Best derailleur adjustment instructional video I have found! I now also understand how everything I'm adjusting actually works. Great video and seriously appreciated. Thank you for taking the time and care to make this.
One of the best videos on setting up the rear derailleurs I have watched. You made it sound and look too easy. I always have a problem setting up derailleurs.
This is the best video I’ve seen yet. This really helps me understand what everything does and demystifies the process for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to make the video!!!!
I'm going to add to the other comments below to also say that that is the clearest explanation I've ever seen or heard on rear der adjustments. I can now actual understand how the adjustments effect the set-up. Amazing! Cheers!
Great video! After hours messing around just followed your instructions and in minutes tuned it all perfectly! Can’t thank you enough… ohh the satisfaction of achieving it on my own!!!😀😀
That’s a very clear description. What I’d like to know is what to do when the rear derailleur jumps from 6 to 8 (smallest cog/highest gear), skipping 7.
Thanks a lot for suggesting adjusting the b-tension screw! I recently got a new MTB and I'm still quite new when it comes to bike maintenance. I recently took the bike out for it's first good run and my gear shifting was horrible. Constantly skipping gears, which isn't great when you need them quickly. I looked up endless online how to's and everyone was saying to adjust the tension. What would happen is I would make the adjustment, and it would fix a couple of gears, but then the issue just kept jumping from one gear to another, and I was pulling my hair out as I couldn't understand why. Came across your video and followed your advice about the 6-9 mm gap on the b-tension screw. I then reset the tension again and only had to make minor adjustments to one of the gears, and the rest of them shift perfectly now. I was so close to throwing in the towel and doing a 40 mile round trip tomorrow to take it back to the shop to get them to fix, but now I'll get to go out on the bike instead. Thanks again!
I've watched many of these videos - am about to replace the gear hanger at the weekend and can now confidently use this to realign my gears with confidence - this video is by far the least techie.
thanks for this video. It really explains well what the adjustments do. In the past I just tweaked the screws with trial and error and no understanding until I got a result I wanted. I've got a problem with my rear derailuer. It skips and slips out when it's the rear range of the rear sprocket. But not at the largest or smallest ends. Any ideas what would cause that? I did have a bent up rear derailuer from getting a stick stuck up in it while riding, and a bike shop repaired it and it was fine for a time, but now this problem has started happening. Any ideas what would cause that?
Thank you! If you have 3 blades at the front should the chain be on the biggest blade when you are determining the cable tension? Can you tell me how to set the basic cable tension for the rear derailleur and blade positions?
That, sir, was a splendid bit of tuition. Thanks.

Now I understand how rear radius should function.
Thank you.

This is the clearest video I've found for what those screws do for which cog/direction (and I've watched soooo many). Thanks! :D

Very clear, concise and to the point. Other videos on the subject a bit too granular. This one cut straight to the chase.

Would a worn shifter cause the rear mech to jump a few cogs in the middle of the cassette and also need a few clicks to get it from the smallest cog?
Did I miss the bit where you reconnected the cable?
Even I understand this
