I had five of these fans purchased from my home depot. All five had to be returned due to a defect. The fans would start running ok for a day or two, then they would start to blow very weak air flow.
I have had loads of these over the years, best fan for the money if you ask me, I just beat them to death and they want more. And the open swirl grill still works better than the standard style, I swapped grills on a 90s air King on a 2013 premium model and the difference in both units is impressive.
I got the Lasco Power Fan in July and they are failing already. They are making a rattling noise after working good for hours. i have 2 doing this. I put a power meter on them and the voltage and power factor looks good. I dont think the capacitors are failing either.
My next fan-to-get, could possibly be the Lasko wind machine/tunnel/cyclone (which I assume is the most common Lasko fan in my Walmart), or maybe that retro style mainstays 8" table fan (which I seem to take a liking to)
The 9" mainstays HV fan I got in June 2016 is still working, despite that as of November 2017 itll sometimes lock up (usually if I have it like about 45 degrees down), but it's still holding on. If it struggles to move I'll put it in storage to fix it in the deep future. My black Honeywell ht-900 is still doing good, and I actually have a interesting video where the ht-900 is running with a HT-800 blade (which I'm actually kept on it on ever since, and you can see it in a video on the Honeywell I recently uploaded)
I bought one of those Honeywell fans I think 2 years ago now.. I've used it quite a bit and it's still going fine.. Those seem to have an issue with locking up over time also..
I don't think so.. The box is buried deep in storage right now.. Lasko posts the CFM ratings for a number of their high velocity fans, but I have not been able to find the ratings for their box fans either..
@@joshuaryanferguson3702 It's worth the extra few dollars to get one of the WeatherShield or PowerPlus models, the feet still aren't the greatest but they move far more air..

I've been looking for a fan that has a grate that had the corners filled in, and a radius that matches the blade diameter.

I think these are the best box fans currently on the market.. The circular guards are definitely more aerodynamic..
Thats one thing i noticed about mine. It does have that kinda deep sound to it like the older Lasko box fans. Iv been useing mine at my moms.
I've been using this one in the bedroom window.. The thermostat is great for these nights where its still getting quite cold at night..

lasko's fans seem to have gotten better in the 2015-Today era than in the 2006-2014 era

Mainstays is one of those big-box-store rebrand names, they're usually not very good quality..

I had mine for one week and it stopped working. I will try one more time. I don't like the thermostat - just another thing to break which it may have
