I was lucky enough to grow up in Rome in the early 70's where all these cars would be seen and taken for granted ! The Roman Bus drivers were my heroes. Driving manual gearboxed buses - double declutching and keeping up speed all the time like they were racing a Ferrari ! I loved that time. Together of course with the Restaurants, the Italians, the Vespas, Moto Morini, Laverda, Ducati, Lancia, Fiat etc. What a time to grow up with all the "left over" cars from the 60's still on the roads. AND of course the Roman Ruins of Emperor Julius Ceasar still standing to this day !
Many thanks Johnny. Notice that this car has been designed by Dany Brawand, a swiss designer that spent 12 years at Michelotti's place before taking the position of chief designer at Moretti!
From the side it looks more like a Lambo Miura. This is such a beautiful car and I have never seen one before this video. Thank you for posting, Johnny.
Such a beauty - I would love one of these and have never seen one in the metal. This green car is based on the Mark 1 Fiat 850. Very interesting, as you say. And the 'ordinary' 850 Coupe was also a great car.
Absolutely beautiful, definitely pays homage to the Dino and many others. Just a shame they were so expensive and sad we didn't get them here in the US anyway! Keep them coming...
I had 2 1969 versions of this car (one complete and one parts car) both red.. as a young man I had no idea what I had, but I'm sure the man I sold them to absolutely did..
In Switzerland there was an ad for a car like that last year. The asking price was over 75000$. seeing the engine brings back memories: My first car an early Fiat 127 had the same engine in the front of course. I know that the 850 coupes had a higher hp rating that the Fiat 127. I think the difference was the carb setup. In those days the cars were BEAUTIFUL. Specially the Italian coupes. I think the cars built after 1972 were never that beautiful anymore
What a great car, Johnny! I enjoyed your video. To me, there are very definite similarities between the front-end styling of this Moretti and the Fia Dino Spyder.
Saw one of these at a local gymkhana. Later a friend blew the engine in his 850 simply by driving it at 70 mph for over two hours. Definitely disappointing.
Abarth built the 1300/124 which was based on the 850 coupe. He also built the Scorpione (sp?) with the same 1300cc drivetrain. The stock 850s had a 4.63 or 4.88 ring and pinion iirc. The Abarth 1300cc cars had 3.50 or 3.70 r&p. These 1300cc cars were ideal for American driving conditions whereas the stock 850s were really city cars.

The lines of this car are so perfect, it’s too bad millions of them weren’t made.

Around 1988 I saw one of these in a fairly sad state next to the roadside outside Paphos, Cyprus.
Definitely a very beautiful car.

Added to my list of cars I'd love to own. Most are Italian cars of the late 60s and early 70s. Unbeatable for style!
What a beautiful motor! Not disproportionate as many small carrozzeria-built specials.

Former Dino owner here - I approve of your message

Son coches de la época de clase y no de la construcción en serie, aunque sean pequeños. Felicidades por el vídeo.
Non conoscevo questa Moretti ma è veramente graziosa.

Thanks for your message! Yes it is really nice designed
The Moretti Sportiva S2 really looks like a Dino.
The front looks like the Fiat Dino Spider. The rest looks like the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4. 2 Dinos in 1.
As a former Dino owner - I approve of your message
What a beauty like a baby Fiat Dino spider
Yes, really close design to Dino. It was named "the baby Ferrari"
As a former Dino owner I believe mine had the same wheels
Thanks for the interesting video.
I would love to own one of these (see my last name) Thanks for this video!
Thanks for your message!
Come to my place in Switzerland, you'll see a dozen of Moretti's. And drink one too!
Please show a Moretti 750 DOHC and a 2500 with inline 6
Nice looking Italian design!
What a machine!
Beautiful!!!!
Kind of reminds me of a Vallelunga.
Wow that looks beautiful !!!
.
I think it also has air conditioning ????....as i think i can see the compressor ???

Great car !!!
That’s the water pump way out there to the right with the alternator just inboard of it.

Stunning but You had to be under 4'-6" to fit in it though... 🙂
✌️🇮🇹🤓
Typical vintage Italian car: Gorgeous but burdened with ridiculous mechanicals and iffy engines.
Doesnt look like a Dino ....at all 🤨🙄😁😁😁😁
The best body and line. But the worst engine
Owning an early 850 Spider, I would disagree. Small engine, yes, but rev happy and fun. No racer, though.
paraurti posteriore non originale
From the door back is cool .The front Swiss crap is why it's not a classic.
AUTO MERAVIGLIOSA 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪
