    Without the balancer; but with a technique I learned from JD, I have all 3 fertilizers saturating each of my farms. I average +40% yield from fertility which maintains at around 139%; plus 30% from edicts averages +70% per farm.

      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh stacking edicts ontop thats nice!

    I realize this is an old video, but you can dump compost as a dirt alternative. good for expanding farmable land if you need it or just generating more land when much of your other dumping sources suddenly have uses that take up most of your terraforming stuff.

    Nice to see that there are different ways to sustainability. Nearly the same amount of people like my base but way different in approach. And no I’m not finished yet, still mining to make big ramps to have more place for solar. And I have the problem jd talked about because my uranium usage gets less and less,food is backing up and things break ….5 hours later.
    Edit
    Perhaps I try stopping the mining for space and see what happens. Oil is my only concern what can go wrong (famous last words)

      I think the only way to test for sustainability is to AFK for a few hours then check to see if everything is still running as expected. If nothing has broken AFK for a longer time, and longer again etc till you can safely afk for 12hours and then you can claim 100% sustainable. Like i said the challenge is not a easy one!

    A lovely build. Not my favorite island, and on that difficulty, is totally amazing.

    Hey jd I have now learned that you can not be afraid to just lay pipe and belts. You must just let it rip. And eventually you will make a beautiful Picasso with Bob Ross backround

    I love this tour - it was very educational and informative. Thank you JD and thank you Zinc for sharing the map.
    I did miss seeing the rocket build - is he not planning to launch here ?

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rockets were outside the reach of his base, due to the lack of electronics 3, Maybe in his next playthru he will be able to add them to the list

    he did a great job

    I like the outposting he did; build everything needed for a contract at the ships dock. Nice separate systems; self contained and balanced just for that task.
    Not a fan of the food store nook; don't those housing blocks NOT get the central park bonus?
    Also I now need to math on the electric boilers > make power > profit?

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes they will mis the central park bonus, but often after you have a number of blocks the bonus is quite small, I know on my map its 0.06 Unity to not have it on my latest development. Personally Id only cut the food stores in one tile, so 7 houses around a park, and the 8th would be house will now be food!

    • @glasseyemarduke3746
      @glasseyemarduke3746 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      instead of having the missing block be the park delete a housing section so you keep the unity bonus. there are several ways to solve that puzzle and keep the park bonus. the houses dont have to be max upgraded and can be paused.

    Very impressive! Do you know why he did not use nuclear power?

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      because you have no way to deal with the waste, eventually it would back up. Thats something you have to account for.

    • @Marin3r101
      @Marin3r101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Just cant be sustainable. Maybe Mafi will allow exporting of Nuclear waste at some point.

    is interesting to see that he have a lot less that your map and he have 100% Sustainable

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is interesting, and also is a the upper limit of what I would consider playable in the game. He is also super limited in survival, He cant make more solar due to lack of electronics 2, to make more of them he needs more people, to get more people he would have to get more X, Y and Z which means many existing systems would have to be rebuilt and extended and he would have to look for a new point to become sustainable again

    If i followed all that correctly.... it's not 100% sustainable? The rock will eventyually run out?

    • @thefactorymustgrowlarger3947
      @thefactorymustgrowlarger3947 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no rock mine at 7:10 is infinite.

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rock, Water, Wood and Sulphur are all unlimited in any difficulty

  • @AustinStanley1
    @AustinStanley1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is very cool, but kind of disappointing that the optimal strategy is to use the earlier items.

  • @Aanthanur
    @Aanthanur ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When your coal comes from an island. Its not sustainable. The game literally tells you the mine will b3 sustained for this many years.

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The resources come in from contracts, they last forever, hence sustainable

  • @bummbumm1149
    @bummbumm1149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    so 100% sustainability is having big buffers, using multiple recepies and having unbreakable/no backing-up production lines with a sprinkle of luck. doesnt feel like you can plan out that equilibrium in detail...

    • @JDPlays
      @JDPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hmm, well you can plan everything out from the get go, ratio everything to perfection, add some buffers for dips in production and then test. Or you can wing it and hope to replace all your mining later in the game with contacts and upgrade them as required.
