you all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me
I am so happy to find artists who are putting out valuable insight, encouraging other people to hone their artistic passions. I have mad respect for you John just from seeing this one video! :) On a journey to rediscover my love for EDM and find new music that aligns with my soul and activates my own creative passion. Thank you for being a source of genuine inspiration and help
What this now 17 year old has achieved since he posted these tutorials is incredible. My respect. The quality and consistency in the heaters he drops is insane. He will always be welcome to the carne asada. Fr.
Yo John really loved these little mini tutorials and would love to see a more in depth view of how you use operator. I know you're a lot busier now but when you got the time I think we'd all appreciate some more content! Hope your foot is doing better bud, cheers!
LEGEND! Please launch an online course or masterclass! I am going to buy it! :) You are very straight and easy as a teacher! Love that John, thank you for uploading this
i've been into electronic music my whole life and it was kind of crazy discovering your tutorial around the same time i got into playing trombone in a salsa band. there is so much energy in latin american music because of that percussion. it's amazing that you're able to merge that energy into house music. house and salsa music in the summer is peak chicago. maybe you'll remix some of those old fania records. would be sick.
@@JohnSummit I've got so much respect for your production and songwriting chops! Man do I wish I knew what 909 sample you are using for the kick. Your kicks are always so god damn punchy and phat lol
I use logic but this really helped me with my tech track. Thank you so much. You're a very pedagogical teacher and I like how you planned the video out. Easy to follow and to the point. I just subscribed and look forward to checking out your other tutorials.
Your videos are simple and straight to the point. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. How much time did you spend at the production process? Did you work multiple tracks in one day or you stay with one track till you finish it?
thanks!! i generally do one track altho a lot of ppl recommend multiple. i spend a while on each track prob a 3-7 days a track and don't release all of them
Thanks for the video! Tech house is all about groove. Do you program your own grooves by pushing back or forward the samples manually or do you use the ableton groove pool? I'm also curious if you quantize the percussion loops to the grid first and then apply groove to them.
everywhere! here this was splice, but the original vox was at 70 bpm so u can't even tell it's the same. i like to take samples and warp/mess with it to be my own
how you get the bassline note on the first step not clash with the first kick, is what i need to know. actually, how to have a bassline note and a kick drum on the same step without them clashing. thanks.
When you are coming up with a percussion motif do you think about the melody first then try find sounds that go with it, or do you just start with the first element and then keep adding to it??? Hope that makes sense, sick track btw!!
good question, i honestly do it by ear. u can use abletons tuner, but this is moreso following the groove rather than how melodic it is. some really tonal percs i try to make sure tho
Great - but my eternal question is where are Latin House producers getting their original vocals besides overused sample packs? Also pronounce Clahvey not clave.
you can tell this dude is just good vibes
yer i agree

Good to see you still killing it man crazy how you started but we all knew you’d be huge, now my life’s a bender thanks to you!

still here after meeting john the legendary 16 year old in orlando edc and NYC, crushing it
Loving the vids. Short, to the point but with some really helpful suggestions. Looking forward to the next one!

Once again, you proved that good quality music you don't need expensive gear! dope advices. Keep sharing this kind of stuff!!
It's interesting to hear this broke down. It has a variety of sounds originally from a few different drum machines from back in the day. ❤
The main thing I got out of this vid was making your MOTIF groove with the bass..same grooveiness...dope
yes!! so key. sometimes i write percussion first then try to make the bassline follow it too
@@JohnSummit well whatever you do..its works my man..keep those vids coming. Eventually...we will collab...I see it.. 👍👍👍
I really like to watch this video bro! Always encourages me to keep doing music and believing on this! Thank you bro for being one inspiration.
Wow. I’m just getting into music production and your tutorials are so inspiring and that too with the sample packs attached! Just legendary!
Yo from accountant to DJ? That’s so dope bro we were in some accounting classes together at Illinois. I been raving since 2012 nice video!
haha no way!! yeah i used to dj at red lion back then but i don't live the accountant life anymore lol
John Summit good to hear bro. Yeah I’m still about that ACCY life at the big4. Looking forward to seeing you live soon!
man you're just the inspiration i needed lol lets go!!!
Definitely correct with both loops and one shots!
added so much flavor to the track! let's gooo
What a success over the last year! And funny to see your DJ controller and Studio setup back in 2020
You're an amazing producer mate!

I like how you keep it simple and yet practical. Great tune John! What is a good starting point for your kick and bass levels?
thanks!! i have the kick at roughly -6 and bass around -10, but i also have like no headroom on my premasters haha. no real right way to do it
@@JohnSummit big thanks!
You are my inspiration John

Really cool you took the time to make these tutorials. 😎 respect brotha
Great video! Would also love to have a bass tutorial to see how each change and added effect alters the sound.
Oooh my Goooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As DJ I played this track in my sets.... and it was big dancefloor boooomb!!!!!!!!!!))))))
Really great insight into how you build your tracks - thanks!
you're an animal man. thank you for the tuts. lovin' it
Such a legend
Banging vid John, love the insight!
thanks!!
Awesome track man! Keep it up. Can you give us tutorials on how to mix and master tech house?
most mix
maybe, it's honestly not that complicated. 9/10 times the biggest mistake is gain staging with the kick/bass
@@JohnSummit A gain staging tutorial would actually be awesome. Thanks for your videos man! they are really helpful!!
@@JohnSummit Im finding it complicated! As you're not in the most high tech of studios do you mix through headphones?
Been waiting to get insights into how you create your drums! great video
Love your nature! So glad i found your channel, vids are just on point! Thanks to you now my techhouse like yeeaaeeee--- Please keep it up!

This is class
finally i found a percussion like mine, i don't know what kind of music i do, i just call EDM music
electronic dance music music
Thanks for sharing your technique i could follow it pretty easy...
Hope to catch you live one of these days!
where do you get your vocals from man? top work
prob from splice or recorded from youtube
Great stuff!! Keep em coming :)
thanks!
Thank you to share your knowledge!
What a goat
awesome thanks for your video !! could you share your arrangement techniques as well please ?
big up yaself john
nice vid john! always enjoying and feeling educated as well as entertained after watching your stuff! (btw, what macbook do you use atm?)
thanks! macbook 2015 pro
Plase make how to do a master for the track, you are the best! :)
What usually is your Kick/Bass relationship in terms of volume?
Great tutorial, thank you! :)
Where do you get your samples/ vocals from?
everywhere! here this was splice, but the original vox was at 70 bpm so u can't even tell it's the same. i like to take samples and warp/mess with it to be my own
we need more of these tut's dude! :D
Amazing brooo!!! You need to do a masterclass with Dead Space how you guys did Impactor
GOLD!
Amazing!!

Dope shit my man..

Take a pull of 1942 every time John says motif
GOAT
MORE TUTS JOHN!
Where do your vocals typically come from? Are you working with vocalists or are they from sample packs?
Any chance I can re-download the files? i bought them in the past but lost from my drive
What head phones is summit using here?
Van anybody tell me, how i get my bought viva voce 8 bar loop into my DAW?
Thanks bro
Nice! Good Job Bro!
very groovy groove :D thanks
Great video, how do you create just the djembe fill? always have trouble making it not sound robotic
bought the file with samples but I cannot use them.. anybody know what I am doing wrong?

Awesome tutorial. Where did you get the awesome vocal sample?
Any production classes that can teach how to make beats like this??
Awesome tutorial man! Do you worry about pitching any of your percussion (bongos, claves, etc.) so that they are in the same key as the bass?
good question, i honestly do it by ear. u can use abletons tuner, but this is moreso following the groove rather than how melodic it is. some really tonal percs i try to make sure tho
Hey bro cuando sacas nuevos videos de produccion?
i know your famous now and might not answer but what software/ app is this that you used?
That's ableton
Rock It! Fire
You are fucking awesome. My fucking hero !!!! More videos please....
nice video bro. where did you find the vocal tho?
thank you
yes !!!!
does he get all of sounds from splice?
I notice these guys dont overly concern themselves with sample source, which could be why they crank out music and get on with things.
Where can I get vocals like this please ?
Great - but my eternal question is where are Latin House producers getting their original vocals besides overused sample packs? Also pronounce Clahvey not clave.
Don’t correct pronunciation it’s rude. #badvibes he’s providing free knowledge and you here criticizing lol
CHEERS!
where do you get your vocals from?
Hello John lol and thank you
Sounds amazing. Only that's not how clave is pronounced :D
What software is he using?
ableton
cutting from the premade loop packs, wow cutting edge production
used a variety of samples and loops as does every other producer in the world...
@@JohnSummit sure
@@partlysimpson5154 its true we do that all the time! Cutting loops isnt cutting edge production....but the ideas are what a producer makes or breaks!
