@@danielfair4675 Auto manufacturers and salespeople should let consumers know when they put vents for the rear passengers under the front seats. If consumers don’t see the vents on the center console, they may think they are not installed.
I wish they would ditch the vertical screen, I hope this trend goes away. A nice car from Subaru that will sell well certainly. You guys are killing it! Top notch reviews, keep ‘em coming!
It appears the new 2026 outback will bring back physical HVAC buttons and a new infotainment screen. Hopefully the other vehicles in the Subaru line up will follow suit.
Vertical screen is nice when using navigation, because it allows you to “see” further ahead on your route, and to see those red markings indicating heavy traffic a bit sooner.
I am happy to see doors better made. My old Subaru Legacy L did not have top boarder. It was just top of windows. It had the most terrible road noise and wind noise. The rubber seals around doors wore out easily.
I don’t hate it but I wish there was a higher trim option with a bit more premium interior materials. And they desperately need to upgrade that infotainment system. It at least needs a processor boost to make it reasonably responsive.
Traded a Honda crv touring hybrid for a crosstrek wilderness. Honda crv touring hybrid gets great gas mileage in summer but in the winter sitting outside in- 20 to -30 I got 12.3 to 17 mpg. Keep your hybrid crap.
Just one small correction. Both the Crosstrek and the Outback have 8.7 inches not 8.3. Otherwise great review. Have owned 7 subarus in 27 years and still live them.
Not sure why they're not keeping the entire tail lights in LED. It's not a nice look anymore. Instead of a boatload unwanted design elemnts they could have spent that money on some aethetics that really matter.
I got basically the same car, 24 dark green limited. They are good cars. For the money it does everything well, but there are a few things that can be improved. The lack of a power tailgate option. Come on. The lack of a heated steering wheel. Big miss. Screen can be a little laggy. Especially on warm up. Still overall, I’d say it was a good purchase.
Get rid of the massive vertical screen. Offer FWD standard for a lower MSRP like they did in the '90s. Then the Crosstrek might be something I'd consider.
The '25 Crosstrek Premium is the best new car for the money with this 2.5L. Top 10 Most Affordable Insurance Policies, Top 10 Best Residual Values, and without options starting around $30,000 OTD.
Subaru has been doing cvts for a long time, The reason cvts get a bad look is mostly because of Nissan and Infiniti's bad cvt reliability. Majority of people don't know the difference between Cvt and Regular Auto Transmission.
So I am a subaru owner, and I have the same complaint like most people who either have one or do not have more, not the fact of the styling it lack of power. There's no reason that this vehicle should not have AXT version and have a turbochars. 4 cylinder at least makes, like 230 to 250 horsepower. This vehicle deserves it, and a heat is steering. Room power liftgate.
Vents should be a standard feature in every car regardless of price point. I would trade off USB ports for air vents because some people aren’t responsible enough to remember what or who’s in the back seat and could really be a hazard in the summer.
This car needs rear cooling/heating. The seats are also not exactly great for big guys. I like it in general but it could be better. For the market I think its good but not the best. It can also use a front facing bumper camera
How do you clean snow off the top with those rails if you're not tall? Looks very inconvenient. I always just push the snow across and off the other side. Can't for the life of me imagine how i would do this roof. Is it possible to get it without the rails?
Subaru is the only brand other than Volvo that I know does a foot and paste interior design. If you look at the entire Subaru lineup right now, im sure you have to look real close to find a difference. Eventually, it’s gonna get stale because there’s nothing that stands out on the interior in any of the models in terms of the front area. Even the engines are shared, but the boxer 4’s aren’t bad, I like the way it sounds, it’s not bad at all like other 4 cylinders and they feel quick. But Subaru definitely has to find a new interior design because this design is getting old. Started from the outback and has trickled its way across the lineup and we haven’t seen anything new since.
My 2018 Nissan Rouge has a 360 Camera system , hands free trunk release ( either fob or moving my leg under under car at the back) etc.. I am in the market for a sub- compact for my wife . That the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek premium trim does not even have a front camera ( forget 360) is very disappointing . 🙄😨
it feels they got stuck in the past with the basic features inside. Analog cluster? I was considering something like this but I don't think this is for me
Car confections, There are reliable cars brands like Toyota, lexus and Subaru this brands from Toyota, and the most reliable cars brands honda and mazda, But there is a problem, lexus, subaru, honda, mazda, even Mitsubishi this cars brands spare parts very expensive, compare to Toyota, There is no point in reliability if spare parts are expensive
This car has 2 airballs - the front end styling is atrocious and the vertical infotainment is not user friendly. Also, the best colors are only available on the lower trims.
The Crosstrek is too small for our needs. They look like a dog squatting to poop 💩. But we Love our Outback, except for the CVT which ROBS the GUTLESS engine of horsepower, torque and mpg !
Part of the reason the gas mpg’s are low is because of the full time all wheel drive system. All 4 wheels are being used so that cuts into fuel economy. Other manufacturers us a 2 wheel drive system that the other 2 wheels engage only when needed.
How I gonna fit all of this into that tiny car????? The hair is straight, the gold is on point, and my BBL is popping!!!! So I hoping you review some better cars that will hug my big yams properly!!!!!
Ugh, the Japanese are sooo stubborn....why in the name of all that's autos can't they put the Trubo Charger in the Forester Engine......like in days of old (ie 2001). I don't want the 2026 Hybrid engine and I dislike the Outback!
And they still have to Old, Outdated, Depressing, Drab, GLOOMY GRAY or DEATH BLACK interior that Every automaker has been shoving down Everyone’s throats for 35 years. Yeah those FUGLY colors were great in 1990, but after 35 years it’s past time for a change. I’ve Never seen Gray or Black dirt, dust or mud, but automakers seem to think that dust and mud and dirt won’t show up and match perfectly with their interior colors 🤢🤮
A few weeks ago, I tried many brand cars for purchasing my new car. Originally I had good images about Subaru's safety system and all wheel drive. But I was disappointed with subaru Cars when I tested driving recently. Reason was, 1. Still stay 10years ago release car design even newer model, too. Newer Forester looks Ford Explorer's small version. 2. No innovations on exterior and interior, used too much plastic. Also engine and technologies, too. Too slow engines. Feel uncomfortable center screen, too lower position. Hard to see the center screen while driving. 3. No hybrid, phev models. No any renovation. Still make 20 years ago same engines. 4. No attractive points. Finally they need to have momentum.

No vents in back is pretty ridiculous! Honestly, all cars should have that!
There are rear vents under the front driver and passenger seats.
@larrymiller0915 true, now someone feels stupid,. lol.

Totally agree. Only reason not to buy a new one.

Great review!!!!

I'm waiting for the hybrid for my first vehicle! 2026 probably!
Just get a new generation Rav4 next year, all hybrids and new interior

The 10th gen Accord wants their tail lights back.
you guys need some hot cocoa with whipped cream - it's cold outside.
Agreed!
The windows are small.
Isn't there a significant blind spot with the rear pillars?
Get rid of the massive vertical screen. Offer FWD standard for a lower MSRP like they did in the '90s. Then the Crosstrek might be something I'd consider.
19:42 what about stuff like a power hatch and rear hvac? Those are more important than the interior looks. As well as a heated steering wheel.

I love this design

Does it have the thermal control valve that had issues? Or did they fix it for the 2025 models?
The CVT transmission is. a deal killer.

wheel design looks out of place
Subaru Australia 🇦🇺, are you paying attention? Your cars NEED more power.
it feels they got stuck in the past with the basic features inside. Analog cluster? I was considering something like this but I don't think this is for me
Plenty of people prefer analog over screen. Screens are actually cheaper than analog clusters now which is partly why so many have them.
@ maybe the components not the technology behind that
@ No, total cost a gauge cluster is much more $ for a manufacturer than a screen.
All a digital screen does anyway is mimic analog gauges. 😅
@ im talking about the capabilities to integrate more safety features. With an analog gauge you can’t do that

Nope. Terrible infotainment. Lackluster cvt. No pep at all. Hard pass.
What a funny looking vehicle..it looks ugly no matter what angle you're looking at.
Functionality over looks. Cosmetics are subjective to the owner obviously.

I do not like the Subaru crosstrek I would easily pick in a Hyundai Kona or a Honda HRV

@keystonedaytrip238 lexus rx 450h+ plug in hybrid.
What kills me about Subaru that every model has the same interior. Its not even a good looking one. Too many cheap looking touches and dated looking.
It looks very old-fashioned car. Is it old car or new?
