Thank you! I was really struggling figuring out where to put the wires and which ones I need it and it all clicked in my head while I was watching this video.
Thank you very much for the video. I have been having an issue with sound. For some reason some of my TV channels have no sound, the sound on some of them goes up and down and is sometimes muffled. Other channels seem fine. I have just fixed the wires of my surround sound system by fixing them back into place (thanks to your video) but the problem hasn't gone away. Furthermore, when I turn on Roku, there is no sound either. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you.
at about 1:13 if you connect the speakers “180 degrees out of phase” you will loose low freq content. as an experiment, try it with a tone generator and watch your woofers move in opposite directions. decades ago there were attempts at 4 channel reproduction that incorporated phase shift circuitry that gave a wider, interesting sound but low freq was sacrificed. look at old marantz, poineer, kenwood, sansui and even akai recievers and integrated amps. the techniques were to have 2 front speakers in phase and 2 rear out of phase (where cancelling low frequency content is less offensive to overall sound quality) to imitate a larger venue, if you will. i still have a pioneer QL- 60 that offers 4 ch discrete (true 4 channel) , matrix and variable phaseshift (up to 90 degrees out) which was called 4 ch synthesis. there were many approaches to 4 ch but manufacturers couldn’t agree on using the same so recordings could be made en masse. it killed 4 channel in our homes. some home theatre sets offer something in the neighborhood of 4 ch synthesis but using freq envelopes, not phaseshift or matrix. almost like having 4 way crossovers and dividing frequencies from front to rear instead of tweet, squawk, woof...

How do you know which speakers to use? Do they just need to have the right impedance? I have some real dinky speakers with much thinner wire lying around

Is there a 7.1 speakers-receiver system with bluetooth and the remote control which has 2.0, 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, and 7.1 buttons for witching to any sound channels at will to play movies or music for home?

I found a Yamaha AV RX 675 seeming in dynamite refurbished condition but I need to know how can I quickly hook up a couple of speakers to see if its functional
@@louisfrank1068 You could always plug in some headphones to see if you get music out of it, that won't tell you if there's music at the speaker terminals, you'll have to actually plug speakers in for that, or get yourself a small 200 watt power meter, that'll tell you if it's putting out anything.
I just picked up two Klipsch floorstanding speakers to add to my 6 speaker home theater system but I'm getting no sound from them. Older Yamaha HTR 5590 receiver that has capability for 4 front speakers but I'm thinking I must be doing something wrong, and can't figure it out.
Hey have a Yamaha V-905 and I also have 2 12 inch subs the are dual voice coil and 1000 watts a piece and I'm not very good at wiring things up. I have them hooked up in the normal speaker holes is there any way I can hook it up in some different hole and it get more bass? Just curious please let me know if your really curious to see what I have I have a video on it on my channel.
Question does your reciever/amplifier have low level ports for subwoofers (low level port is a RCA port to connect a standard single RCA cable from it to your Subwoofer's low level port depending on your system you may have more than one of these. I assume you're SW's are powered. Check your recievers manual for more information and location if available on your system.
Hello I have the Yamaha RX V861 7.1 - i want to hook up just 2 sets of 150w @ 8 ohms speakers to listen to my turntable ( Rega Planar 3). What would best way to set this up to get the best sound from my speakers and turntable. Thank you for your time.
Simply plug your turntable into the "Phono" RCA jacks on the back of your amp, connect your speakers in the normal way, because you'll be playing records, I don't think you'll get audio from your rear speakers, you might though, if you choose a surround effect.
I have an amplifier to has two input for each entertainment source. I am trying to connect marantz receiver into my amplifier but is has three wires. What do I do with the third wire ? The marnatz is old, I know but sound clarity is unmatched.
Denis Martin oh I see, your Marantz is a tuner, I thought when you said “receiver” you meant amplifier, when you say “3 wires” what exactly do you mean, can you describe them.
@@nickfatsis9607 First thanks for the quick response. I am getting the terms wrong. I just pulled out of the closet and it reads Stereo Tuner st 325. Ok, It has a dial where I can tune to different radio stations. It appears as if came with an amplifier to which it connects to. However, I don't have a marantz amplifier. I have a ONKYO amplifier I'd like to connect to. When looking at the back of this tuner their are two sets of wires. The first set, is labeled output but it has been cut off so I don't know if that is suppose to be the power source. I am assuming it is. The other set of wires are buched in three and is labeled GND, 15.6V and 11 V . Not sure what this set of wire is for.
@@denismartin4525 I just had a look at a connections diagram for your tuner, the one labeled "output" is the audio output and the other cables are for power, they are only designed to plug into a particular Marantz amp, you can't use it unless you can provide those voltages, there's plenty of other separate tuners you could buy to connect to your amp that have their own normal power plug, what amp are you using?
can you please tell me if it is possible to convert the yamaha htr 5730 AV receiver with a bluetooth adaptor (Logitech) and where to connect th input cable from bluetooth adaptor
I followed this video to connect my Yamaha amplifier to my speakers. The volume is really low. Is there something I may have done wrong? I used 16 wire. Only about three feet long.
Hi i was wondering if u can help i have a htr 5660 and the remote wont connect to the amp at all. I really just wanna control the volume. Batteries are new. Thank yoi
You may have a problem with your remote, get your phone camera and turn on the selfie camera, point your remote at your phone and start pressing buttons, if you don't see the remote LED light up in your phone screen, that could mean that your remote is dead, the remote might also need cleaning inside.
I've got a sony it says for the rear 6.1 I .can plug into the rears do I plug one end to the negative on the left and the piste on the right of the other? .mines a 5 .2 6.2 7.2 and 7.2 high (2 speaker go high up for vertical sounds. They all go in the same 2 connections. So it's stumped me with just the rear which only has 2 wires to go into 4 inputs
I was shocked to discover that my HTR-4069 is not set up to receive banana connectors. Why would they not be standard on all models, worldwide, what would it hurt? In the absence of this capability, is there a better method than tinning the wire (with non-corrosive solder) and inserting the lead under the nut (I always tin, no matter what connection I use)? I find this method a huge PITA, the connecting terminals are not particularly easy to access. I hate the little clamp connectors, very insecure.
It’s usually low end amps that don’t use banana style connectors, because usually on a lower end system you’ll typically use thinner wire and wouldn’t usually need banana connectors, I wouldn’t recommend soldering the wires either, this would make it harder for the speaker terminal to clamp onto the wire, just unsheath about 10mm of cable and use that.
@@inyobill Some Yamaha amps are low end, the HTR-4069 doesn't even come close to being audiophile, it only uses 8200uF caps for main filtering, it doesn't have really anything in the way of recording outputs, it has very few inputs and it only weighs just over 8 kilos, not much to brag about there, those plugs should pull straight out of the speaker terminals.
@@nickfatsis9607 Thanks for the response. Recording is a non-issue for me. Would you be kind enough to suggest an upgrade, keeping in mind my budget isn't unlimited?
I converted all my wires to banana connectors. My older receivers had the red and black inputs spaced so you could use a dual banana molded as a single connector (one side red, other side black) Seems they now space the terminals so you can't do that anymore. Supposedly for safety reasons.......
Do you know how I would set up a Yamaha a-s501 amp to a wireless network? I want to play music by using my phone to connect to my network hard drive. The amp has a digital and optical output. Thank for any help.
I just had a look at the user manual for your amp, the speaker terminals are basically the same, just expose about 10mm of wire, twist it and insert the wire, make sure you unscrew the terminal first.
Great video EXECPT you missed one thing.. There are TWO plugins for the subwoofer. You did not explain why there are two and how to connect to one or both.

Hey guys I need some help. My surround receiver outputs around 100watts at 6ohms, however, my speakers are 4ohms. I know my receiver will get warm as the speakers are a lower ohm than the recommended 6ohms of the receiver. But will the receiver still put out 100watts even though its running a 4ohm speaker. Or, would t to be better to wire the 2 speaker in parallel to get a 8ohm load, however i'll be massively under powering the speakers. Thanks
I have hi fi speakers with crossover connections. The connections take banana plugs but to crossover I would have to use bare wire. Unless there are plugs which have piggy back wire connections. I cannot find such a product, so I guess bare wire is my only option.
Hi I'm trying to connect my iPod to our stereo at work, I'm currently using an aux cable one end to the iPod and the other to a DVD audio hole, but it'll only play on 4 out of the 6 speakers, so it sounds unbalance, I tried using a different wire, I don't know what it's called but one end goes in the iPod and the other two ends are red and white, but when I connect those I get no sound at all even though everything is a perfect fit, I even tried plugging it in through diff holes, what am I doing wrong? :( please help
I find it really dumb that we are still using speaker wires and not some kind of plugs on the ends. Tired of twisting wire ends and dealing with connection and disconnection BS.

Ok here's the breakdown on why you have polarity on speakers - +, negative and positive. and you should hook up ++ -- for correct polarity configuration too speaker's and receiver, because the receiver and speakers have Polarity! with makes current flow correctly .
i have acoustic response series 707 but i dont know how to use them 'do i get a mixer and connect them through wires then mixer to my laptop? i'm really lost please help :(
Aman i'll take it as wrote you've never had a surround receiver before, larger standing speakers are usually hooked up as the main pair in surround setup (your front left and right speaker terminals as face the set of speaker terminals on the back of your system. but before you do, what are your standing speakers rated for (both ohms and watts if they're don't match or exceed your systems output one of two things will happen if ohms don't match you could have speakers not work at all or else cause your reciever work harder, with wattage however you need to watch speakers rated under your systems total means you could blow them if your not careful while ones that are rated at system (aka matched) they're ok but run you into trouble if you decided to upgrade the system later, the optimal as far as wattage goes is speakers rated higher than your system as your system can't destroy your speakers when you raise volume level too high. next thing is the gauge of the speaker wire (this is how you actually hook up your speakers to most recievers. smallest gauge is 22 and the largest is 00 not that you'll see that on a home system, larger is better from a impedance point of view (fancy way of say how much signal can go through with out causing distortion.) which gauge you'll get will depending on price per foot of wiring. best bet get 18 gauge small enough to fit most terminal but big enough kill distortion at higher listening levels. basically to hook up your speakers to your reciever take the speaker wires and connect one end to the terminals on the back of the speakers and hook the other end of the wires to main terminals on the back of reciever making sure to not swap neg and positive usually one side of the speaker wire is marked with a stripe usually this goes on the terminal marked with a + sign. I know that is a lot of info just to do something as simple as connect a pair of speakers to a reciever. once you've physically hooked up your speakers then you need to configure them in the recievers speaker setup (if it has one.) BTW a lot of this info is in your Recievers manual and can explain orintation of speaker terminals, as well as all of your other ports on the back of your system.
Thank you! I was really struggling figuring out where to put the wires and which ones I need it and it all clicked in my head while I was watching this video.

Check your recievers manual for more information and location if available on your system.
please help me find out how to use my phone as a Yamaha remote
Hello
I have the Yamaha RX V861 7.1 - i want to hook up just 2 sets of 150w @ 8 ohms speakers to listen to my turntable ( Rega Planar 3).
Are you trying to use your Marantz as a preamp?
@@nickfatsis9607 No. Once in a while I just want a receiver to listen to radio station .
I have a dsp ax759se Yamaha, should I bi wire with front a and b?
thank you. I was trying to put the raw wires in the hole and that wasn't working AT ALL!
can you please tell me if it is possible to convert the yamaha htr 5730 AV receiver with a bluetooth adaptor (Logitech) and where to connect th input cable from bluetooth adaptor
I did
whats the brand name of the receiver and where did you buy and for how much
Yamaha RX-V2700, and it's 8 years old.usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v2700_black__u/
I followed this video to connect my Yamaha amplifier to my speakers. The volume is really low. Is there something I may have done wrong? I used 16 wire. Only about three feet long.
Thank you so very much. This is just what I needed.
You are plugging the subwoofer into the wrong connection. It has to go to Subwoofer Pre Out. You have it in the `Multi Channel Input`.
Can I connect sony subwoofer in this receiver ? I have subwoofer which comes with sony 5.1 home theater ?
Thanks, helped attach wires to my Yamaha receiver, was perplexed
Yah Yamaha isn't "Low End", more mid level, entry audiophile level??? My previous Yamahas had plugs built into the nuts/terminals.
@@inyobill What is it you're looking for in an amp that your current one can't give you?
Where would u put a car sub on the back of the receiver???
I converted all my wires to banana connectors. My older receivers had the red and black inputs spaced so you could use a dual banana molded as a single connector (one side red, other side black) Seems they now space the terminals so you can't do that anymore. Supposedly for safety reasons.......
Do you know how I would set up a Yamaha a-s501 amp to a wireless network? I want to play music by using my phone to connect to my network hard drive. The amp has a digital and optical output. Thank for any help.
Great demonstration but I cant find the holes on my receiver speaker terminals they are that small.(Yamaha receiver RXS600)
I just had a look at the user manual for your amp, the speaker terminals are basically the same, just expose about 10mm of wire, twist it and insert the wire, make sure you unscrew the terminal first.
Can you put banana plugs into these?
Great video EXECPT you missed one thing.. There are TWO plugins for the subwoofer. You did not explain why there are two and how to connect to one or both.
My sorround doesnt allow me to add more bass its only goes up to -0obs and lower do you know the issue?
0dB is the maximum, does your subwoofer have it's own level control?
Can a second receiver with a subwoofer line out be hooked up to the first receivers subwoofer line out and have a third receiver hooked up to the subwoofer line out on the second receiver
I have a Sony I need to know how to hook up the radio to the reserver and the speakers up with it to to make it all work together but I also to watch a video how to hook everything up because I don't know anything about it at all
Yeah, "spin the end of the wires". Excellent description Einstein.
ahh man thank you for some reason this one stumped me now she's Sounding really awesome
Nice video man! hey, one of my speakers sounds great! The other, I can hardly hear it. What could be wrong?!
I have the v1700 and the center speaker wont make any sound. I have attached the same speaker to the either of the front connectors, so I know the speaker works. What should I do?
What mode are you trying to use, if it's in stereo mode, you won't get any audio from the centre channel.
@@nickfatsis9607 wow thanks for the reply 2 years later. I removed the system and bought a sound bar with a bass box. All the speakers were removed from the walls and ceiling. Honestly thanks for the reply, I just wish it wasn't this late.

hey bud, i have the rx v800, the cheaper version of this. I cannot get my rear speakers to get any sound. when i hit the test button on the receiver, it gets sound, but no games on my pc, no music or movies, and none on my xbox. any advice?
I have a Yamaha rxv1800 but i dont get sound from my center speaker, any fix?

Where would I hoook up my subwoofers if their not powered. I have 5 double stacked redline surround sound Bose. With 2 am-500 subwoofers. On a Yamaha rx-v657
Thanks
I'm getting a buzzing sound from the speakers after connecting them up. Do you know why or how to fix that?
What about a 4 conductor wire? Do I need an expensive reciever?
I find it really dumb that we are still using speaker wires and not some kind of plugs on the ends. Tired of twisting wire ends and dealing with connection and disconnection BS.
vanscoyoc you can purchase banana plugs for your wires.
It's not really an issue, usually people only connect them once and leave them, for years sometimes.
I love it lol
i have a pioneer vsx 7500s the problem is that it plays only from left input

Can i use any type of speakers to plug to the receiver. I have some samsung speakers which they have +.- behind. I was thinking using those instead of buying new ones to save some money.
So I got a Logitech Z906 sound system, and what I wanna do is connect on this sound system 2 other speakers (rca) to my main mixer (Behringer Xenyx) so I can play music through all of them...How Am I supposed to do that?
Can av receivers handle 4 ohm speakers
Thank you for the good information.
THANKS BRO HUGE HELP, THANKS AGAIN
Ok here's the breakdown on why you have polarity on speakers - +, negative and positive. and you should hook up ++ -- for correct polarity configuration too speaker's and receiver, because the receiver and speakers have Polarity! with makes current flow correctly .
Thank you so very much. Now I am a happy .

Very helpful. Thank you.--Colin
how can I connect my 5.1 home theater nd standing speakers together plzz tell me...
Aman J Singh
I know that is a lot of info just to do something as simple as connect a pair of speakers to a reciever.
once you've physically hooked up your speakers then you need to configure them in the recievers speaker setup (if it has one.)
BTW a lot of this info is in your Recievers manual and can explain orintation of speaker terminals, as well as all of your other ports on the back of your system.
